I know that Nutn likes being prepared, and loves good gear, but this is beyond what I was expecting, even after watching TNP for years. 2 multi meters? I think he could take a few things less, and still be fine, but lighter. Nutn you did put a lot of work in making the video, and the extensive link list, kudos for putting all that effort in!
With the heart and soul that TNP is known for, we take a look at my motorcycle camping system, wilderness variety. This system allows for completely self sustained living in remote areas. A big adventure bike is needed to carry it. More importantly this gear allows you to get out and see amazing places, meet amazing people for those wonderful memories you'll never forget. -nutnfancy
Thanks Nut'n! I've LD Motorcycled for years but never with a loadout for camping, (I've slept in my roadcrafter and been woken by water sprinklers LOL) seeing the gear for actual camping will help me put together a more efficient load. About seven years ago my Slime compressor saved my trip, from Nor-Cal to Elko I had to fill the tire every 90 miles or so with a brand new tire that I hit a screw a few miles from home. Got a new tire in Elko and continued on. Product tip, the XO brand wisk broom dust pan combo. I bought one off Amazon for work and the broom stores inside the pan and seals the pan. Great system and fits in an apron pocket at work. BTW, love seeing products you've already reviewed going on the ride.
Holy crap! You sure you're not loading up a 3/4 ton pickup? LOL. I'm no minimalist by any means. My friends call me magyver because I load up everything including the kitchen sink on my strom, but I don't know if I could load that much on my bike. Always seem to have to make concessions.Hopefully your vid will help me figure out how to change my packing techniques. Just started checking out the Nutnfancy vids, I must say I am impressed and will check out more of them.
we have the same bluetooth speaker. Even the same color.. grin Well done video. Went on a ride today to Electric Lake, Scofield and then back via Soldier summit. A little over 200 miles and perfect weather. The guys that went with me had never been up there and memories were made. Thanks for posting. Be safe
Holy crap that is a lot of gear. Where is the trailer. I don't ride motorcycles but you had me at camping. I have thought of trying this out in a few years when I'm not so young anymore. Backpacking is one of my favorite hobbies. That was a great video nutn... thanks for taking the time to put that together. I like that you showed what it looked like all loaded up towards the end. 2 thumbs up.
Cool man! I just drove through Gunnison National Forest 2 weekends ago to get to the Uncompaghre National Forest area just south of there (Ouray, Silverton, Telluride) for a week of camping and Jeeping. Just got home yesterday morning! Favorite place on earth.
Thank you for sharing your experienced advice on what to pack. Next spring I plan on doing a lot of trips like this. But deer season is 9 days away, so the next few months I will be spending a lot of time in the woods.
Dig the gear nutn...and the bikes hope to get out there and adventure soon. Miss you over night camping vids!! Team up with crocket and give us a long multi day!! miss those so much! thanks for all you do!!
I use small cases to organize gear - pencil cases and the promo cases you sometimes get with tech. It's essentially the same mentality as LBE pouches. I have: one for power banks (for helmet cam and phone); one for camera memory and general USB drives; one for hygiene items (hand sanitizer and such); one for extra tools and gear-specific tools... It's easy to pack a load according to your intended adventure without excessive over-packing, or forgetting essentials. It makes life easy when you need to find something specific - especially if you color-code the cases. For example, I know my power banks, and leads, are in a padded pouch, while a spare flashlight is in a canvas pouch - top zip.
+NotHis RealName at 11:00.... damn smart call there. I guess it's probably common knowledge - but something I never considered the first time I rode dirt. ...guess what! I broke a lever!
That's a lot of gear for just one week. I did a one week trip on my F4i and did just a tent, MSR whisperlite, a small stove, a sleeping bag, and various other small stuff. And that tank bag on your KTM is as big as my tail bag.
Ever use that Gold Bond medicated powder? Never use in the nether region unless you want to be in fire your first 300 miles. It has some menthol, spearmint or something like that in it. Better stick to some plain ole Johnson's baby powder. Enjoyed the vid.
Having lived in the mountains of CO for years, I instantly recognized where you were in the lead in footage. Awesome trip! I. Used to ride a 250 enduro far back in the hills, but never camped when riding. Now I am inspired! Great video! Can we please see one from the rally? I know you have it!
+Deadwindshadow You can do this with a bike thats alot cheaper, the gear combined he has bought over time obviously and the time off again was saved up for. Money has nothing to do with this..
You definitely are ready for adventure! Great tips too, love seeing the Moto stuff too. Hopefully you can roll some more of the trip on the B channel. Thanks for sharing!
Love the ADVriding vids. Regret not making it to the KTM rally this year now..... If you ever find yourself in BC Canada i'll take you on some epic rides if you like!
I don't view many motorcycle videos since it's normally not relevant to me since I'm too broke to afford a motorcycle and rarely have to to myself between work and family life. But this is a good video, That's a lot of stuff! But I am sure you are glad you have every piece of gear with you. Nutn do you still fly? I would love to see some video if you do.
I don't think thats the first time you've shown the workbench in the garage, I think you've shown it about 2-3 years ago when you were adding crash bars to a bike in a video. I don't remember the name of it, but doodle was in it, you showed those tin plates on the wall.
I run a Tiger Explorer/Zega Pro setup with less than half that for a trip camping. Been all over the USA solo and I thin my load every trip. I assume you will too after a few 100 thousand miles. Love your bike and I love all your other vids, but this is major overkill for a week trip...including the Outback of anywhere. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
+tacticaldoodle 's boots look like the ICON Elsinore. I have the shorter version, the ICON El Bajo. Good boots - not for excessive walking, and the ribbed suede gets marred from the shifter, but those aren't deal breakers.
Hey Nutn, or Doodle, since it seems you handle most of the comments... Could you do a video on your ride on your channel, or maybe this main channel? Looks sweet, and I'm sure lots of dudes would love a better look at it. Great work here as well, Nutn.
+XtremeConditioning Which one? I need to go through and re-film it, but we have shot them for pretty much all the bikes. My little 650 strom, while still a DL650, is probably the most popular bike I have! I've noodled around on a hayabusa, hyperstrada, vintage sports, and the one that captures the most chain smokers in the parking lot is the strom. twitter.com/tacticaldoodle/status/631541239431585792 TD
Tbh, I was talking about a little overview/walkaround on the car shown in the beginning of the video @ 6:23 . Only because I've seen you guys always riding around on bikes, so I figured showing your car would be sweet as well. Thanks for replying, TD.
Hey Nutn, how about some more vigilant Owl patches and a review on the new Interordnance AKM247? Great price point on these and looking to see if the value is there with good reliability. Thanks in advance.
Hey Nutn... I feel like over the years you have guided your followers in the purchasing direction that is most mindful of cost/performance ratio. Performance encompassing all of the pou's, swc, and its ability to adapt into scenarios it might not be best suited for. I know you have quite a few toys and you advocate using the best tool for the job but i am trying to make a purchase that will tick as many boxes as possible. Do you feel that the ktm 1190 is the best all around bike for the money? Be it adventure biking, commuting, or just hitting the road with some friends... I really can't have a stable of bikes and I want to make a smart purchase that may last a long time given care and maintenance... As always I hope this finds you and your family well. Wish I could make it to the meet up but I have a feeling we will cross paths at some point in the future and I look forward to shaking your hand.
Bad ass! thanks for the vid I was asking you about this months ago!! id like to think you read my comment and thought it a was a good subject for a vid!
I understand that your gonna use what you want on your chain there, but, if I saw it right, your running a o-ring with the tacky white stuff. My Clymer manual does not recommend it for a o-ring chain on my KLR. Just looking out. Might want to check your manual. Hell of a pack out there.
Your just going to Colorado not Antarctica, Iraq or Afghanistan lol.. YOUR AWESOME AND FUNNY THOUGH LONG TIME SUB TO YOU SOLD MY SCAR SO IVE BEEN SAD AND HAVENT BEEN WATCHING YOU CUS I WOULD BE JEALOUS OF YOUR GUN TOYS BUT STARTED WATCHING AGAIN CUS I RIDE A SUPERMOTO AND I FIND YOUR BIKE VIDZ FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) !!!!!?!!!?
you can tell a good rider by how well the head stays level in turnouts. As you can see at 1:25 it creates an optical illusion the bike moving out from under the rider
Lol! I go backpacking and I go on trips on my DRZ400SM. I pretty much bring what I bring when I go backpacking...the only extra stuff I bring is a full extensive repair kit with extra basic parts and sometimes I break down the LAR-15 in the pack or box but usually my .38. YOU WILL END UP NOT USING OVER HALF THAT STUFF I KNOW ITS GOOD TO ALWAYS BE PREPARED BUT HOLY COWS
YES! I've been wanting to see this vid. One bad thing about motorcycle camping is that we can't take our dogs. Any suggestions on that? Put them in a sidecar? Just really wish we could take our dogs with us. Guess we'll just have to leave 'em at home, which we hate to do. Great idea with the extra tire! Love the load out. Such a great adventure. Thank you for sharing!
I once saw a guy on a CBR with a dog on the back, and it wasn't what you're thinking. The dog was actually sitting on the seat with its paws around the guy's sholder, just like a human passanger. And I didn't even just see this once, rather, I practically saw this guy and his dog on his bike evry day. So there is your solution! Just train your dog to ride with you, as I'm sure it would be easy.
Empirical Madman I already know that our dogs will not be trained to do anything like that, lol. As in, they wouldn't stay on the bike...one dog in particular has hip issues so that'd be dangerous. It sounds awesome but wouldn't work for our dogs. :)
Does anybody know where I can find this intro music? It fits this vid perfectly and I'm making a compilation video of my older brother who just went to the Air Force Academy on a football scholarship. We spent a lot of time in Colorado on ATV's and adventure bikes before he had to report in for In-Processing and I wanted to use this as background music. Try to preserve those memories ya know? If anybody could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
