We've covered the basics and broad strokes of essential motorcycle camping gear, but what are those "everyday use" type items that you take on every camping trip? Stuff that is incredibly useful but maybe not as obvious as things like tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, etc...
I take my possibles pouch on every trip, and inside is a collection of essential camping gear that I take on every camping trip. These pieces of motorcycle camping gear are useful for all types of camping, whether you're motocamping, car camping, or even backpacking. This camping gear I take on every trip fits into a small mesh pouch that makes it easy to throw in and take along no matter where or when you're going camping. This pouch includes things like a sturdy knife, multi tool, toilet paper, coffee making supplies, a trowel, wet wipes, headlamp and tent lamp, bug spray, sharpening puck, and more. I never leave on a motorcycle camping trip without these essential pieces of camping gear.

Small tip: get an old (credit) card and wrap duct tape around it. It is really flat and low profile, yet ducttape is always useful.

Hey Dork Great Video! Thanks for sharing your craft. One suggestion is put your bug spray in a zip lock baggie so it doesn't contaminate your kit (i.e. silverware or drinking cup) if it sprays/leaks accidently. I had a can get "triggered" in a bag of items it made a mess.

Your kit is your kit and everyone can use it as a starting point if they don't know what to pack. Having multiple sources of ignition is so critical. I keep 2 lighters, and a flint/steel as my emergency backup. Don't forget to start a fire at home so you know how to before you need to do it. We are Excellent and you are Excellent to us.

Good stuff Ben. I carry dryer lint for fire starter. Have bag on the dryer and my wife saves it. No need to soak cotton balls in alcohol. Works really well and packs tight.

Personal kit: Add ear plugs. Whether it's the wind thrashing your tent, a racoon in a tree, or a riding buddy that snores, ear plugs can help you get a better night's sleep. Fire kit: Add a 12 x 12 inch square of aluminum foil. Folded it is very small and weighs nothing. When the ground is wet and so is your wood, the Al foil provides a barrier from the wet ground and keeps those embers glowing while the kindling catches fire. Best fire starter ever: A one inch long piece of road flare wrapped in wax paper. Burns very hot and gets wet wood burning.

Gallon sized ziplock bags go on all my trips. Great if you have wet clothes or dirty items that you don’t want touching other items. They’re easy to replace once soiled.

Very similar to mine but I have some S&P, a mountain house meal (never know if you have to stay an extra day, food goes bad, etc). I pack a bit different though, I have a "kitchen" pack which would include things like silverware, cup, etc a "tent" pack which would include things like the GSI light, pillow, headlamp, power bank, etc. This way if I stop for lunch or to cook a meal I grab the kitchen pack, once the tent is setup I throw the tent pack in there, etc. Great video! Oh almost forgot I keep a thermacell in my kitchen pack as well! stop for lunch might need it haha.

Another great necessity to have in your kit is Hand sanitiser as it doubles up and a nifty fire starter aid.
@JL-FBGM
@JL-FBGM 2 года назад
I have learned if you buy the best of the best, there's no need for redundancy. No need for 6 ways to make a fire for example. Too much extra weight for me. I understand the theory of "one is none, two is one" - but that only applies to firearms...I started using paper plates and bowls, I am not a fan of "doing the dishes" with my limited water supply. Do you have a first aid kit? Road ID is another good thing to put right on your helmet, make some decals with all your emergency contact info on it....

Good Point. What I use is a sighting compass with a mirror and I keep a fresh book of paper matches in my first aid kit--the torn end of a clean paper match works great to remove grit from the eye. Some kind of mirror is also useful for intimate tick checks when solo.

Being out in the wilderness alone is a true test of a mans grit and resolve. The harsh weather and those curious critters always looming in the background or even in plain sight. In that environment sometimes what you don’t have is just as important as what you do have, especially when it comes to accessible food for foraging big-foots or lesser beasts. Its a good idea to stow your food items in containers that don’t waft their yummy smells throughout the camp. Tempting as it might be I recommend not bringing your favorite chips, pizza or chimichangas into the tent for a moonlight snack. I’ve never had to wrestle a Bigfoot from inside a tent but odds are the endings going to leave a guy looking like a shrimp pressed to the inside of a Vietnamese Summer Roll. Great video.
