Motorcycle center stands on big heavy bikes can be intimidating. No one wants to tip over their bike while putting their bike on its center stand. However, it's a simple task. If you know the mechanics behind this simple device, it becomes much less daunting in use.
Sorry for sounding nasally. I had a head cold during the time of creating the video

Hi from a new rider and a 70 plus year old. I have a Scooter. It is a larger one and weighs in at over 400 pounds. One of my problems is age (of course) and finding, at first, it was difficult to put the scooter on its center stand. BUT being only 195 pounds and wanting to treat my new hobby right. I watched your video and others that described the process of doing the center stand dance. A little practice, the right shoes, the "confidence" and now I can perform the center stand placement of my scooter with hardly any issue at all. Thanks again to you and all that are making my new way of getting around so much more easier and fun.

Our pleasure sir. Glad the video helps. Most of the job of center standing your scooter is technique. And your 195 lbs is plenty. Merry Christmas 🎄

Thanks for tackling this very important subject! Can I make some comments? #1 Any time you’re moving the bike, including on and off the centre and side stands, have it in first gear with the clutch pulled in by your left hand on the handlebar, the side stand down (motor not running of course), and your right hand on the rear grab rail to do the moving. That way, if you think you’re losing control, you can just let out the clutch to stop the bike while pulling it down towards you onto the side stand. #2 This technique is particularly important for stopping the bike rolling away if you’re on an up or down slope, and also just for moving the bike around in your yard or garage. It’s second nature to me now to use the clutch to control my bike when I’m wheeling it around. #3 I don’t think you’re standing close enough. I use my right thigh against the fuel tank and seat to help push the bike up off the side stand, and to feel both feet of the centre stand touching the ground. Much easier to balance the bike on the feet if you’re close to it. #4 I don’t think there’s any need to put your left foot anywhere near the centre stand when bringing the bike off the stand. #5 As you say, putting the bike on the centre stand is very much a matter of pushing down with the right foot and pulling steadily back, not up, on the rear grab rail. The major input is the leverage gained by pushing down with the right foot. In fact, I can just about put my Versys 1000 SE GT on the centre stand with my right foot only! But I never would have both feet off the ground as you seem to. Thanks again, keep the videos coming! Hi

Great comments Joseph. Yes there is a lot of specific points like using the clutch. Yes very important to place your thigh against bike (tank). As far as your number #4, I found it most helpful, especially if your bike is on a very smooth surface such as garage floor

Cheers for this, just bought a 95 Yamaha V Max, it's 280kg wet (about 560lb ?), i've had 7 bikes and this is the first with center stand, not been able to use it but will practice with your vid, did use one during my CBT (first step of gaining a full license here in the UK) but that was on a tiny 125.

Actually the Honda Trail 125 weighs 257 pounds, rather than "200 pounds, max" but it is still a light bike.

Glad that the flat in back is more common. Getting a flat in the front while riding sounds a little more scary.

R1250GSA is way harder than that. it takes much more than just standing on the tab.

True. Don’t forget rocking, lifting, and pulling to the rear.

Dont use the flat part of your foot. It can be painful overtime especially with heavier bikes. Use the heel of your foot instead as it is one with your leg and body weight. Make sure your right foot has your toes facing the back of the bike. Not facing the bike like in the video. This is waaaaaay easier with momentum as well.
