Motorcycle, E-Bike Sales Rise Amid High Gas Prices 

This should be an incentive for the government to add more bicycle infrastructure! We have perfect weather in the bay to commute by bicycle all year round.

I feel bad for that one guy. You know, that exact one guy who thought it'd be a great idea to buy a motorcycle to "save gas". Right? To offset high fuel prices by spending 5 or 10 grand on a bike because of the extra $40 per week he was spending on gas. ...then crashes it in to a guardrail. Now, he's in the hole for what he spent on the bike ...plus his new, 50K hospital bill and the added joy of walking around the rest of his life with a limp. You know there's going to be that one guy.

Nice to see new riders but please learn biker etiquette get out of my way if you split lanes 2mph.

Ride a bicycle is more healthy with these fast food everywhere you need it

A motorcycle is a good alternative to commuting to work just be very cautious on the roads and always wear protective gear. If you have kids you need to drive around in the afternoon or evenings then probably stick with a vehicle. Electric bicycles are fun and good for short commutes. Again take alot of precautions as there are plenty of motorcycle and bicycle accidents occuring each day.

A used $500 E bike would be worth it and would save you money. If your current car gets 25 mpg and gas at 5.50 a gallon, you have to ride about 2300 miles and it will pay itself off. If you ride 10 miles per day average that is 230 days after this day. The cost of electricity to power the bike is super cheap. Most of the cost would be from bike maintenance (brakes/chains/etc). But then again you have a higher risk of severe injury or death compared to a car.

well if anybody uses their brain then they will find out that using a 2000 pound car to move a 150 pound body is probably going to use more gas than a 200 pound moto carrying a 150 pound body.

Here is the problem with this, If you pay attention to news reports than you understand that there is an increasing fatality rate from bikes and motorcycles at least in the Bay Area. Hit and run's are way up, people are getting hit by vehicals. I use to ride but its just not worth taking the chance on getting hit. Crappy drivers, caught up on electronic distraction, DUI driving and the blatent lack of Police enforcement makes for lawless driveing and speeding . Just think about any given day you drive to work and how it's a rat race. Now think to yourself, would you want to take a chance on a motorcycle in that shit? Noble ideal in a perfect place. Theres a saying amongst bike riders, ...It's not if you go down , but when you will go down cause eventually we all have some type of accident from what ever. Stay Safe if you choose to take your chances.
