The earplugs that Ryan F9 recommends are available on amazon for about $0.10 usd per pair -- and they work great. I believe that earplugs help me to ride faster and more efficiently. I have a theory behind that, but I won't bore anyone with it.

@@OFFroadOFFcourse OK...two sides of the coin: (1) beyond a certain noise threshold, the human limbic system yells "stop!" This can cause some throttle roll-off; (2) in general, quieter environments allow greater concentration, which promotes efficiency. There are exceptions, of course, but I have personally observed these reactions in a variety of stress/skill environments.

@@f18a I would also add that loud constant noise causes mental fatigue, eliminating this extra fatigue gives you greater levels of concentration and better decision making

@@tomcooney183 100%! 👍 But there it is important to choose the action specific hesring protection with the correct filters built in. The "0,001€" ones are just some piece of rubber that blocks every noise. And then there are the ones with specific filters that support your riding and lower your fatigue, like there are a million different types, grades and styles of hearing protection for the different usages within the industrial sector.

Liked it. And the suggestion is good for those who want to experience, for the first time, the advantages of using earplugs. But, after a short time (few hours), you will conclude that: 1.- they get wax after the first use and reusing something dirty is an unnecessary sacrifice. Not for the aesthetic part itself, but because there is a temptation to clean them before reusing them and this can lead to infections in the ear canal (for example: we will have our hands dirty with dust, fuel, chain oil, mud, water from the streams and other waters, if you know what I mean, etc.); 2.- they are extremely expensive (3.00EUR per unit!), it is more expensive than a liter of petrol! If you use at least two a day multiplied by the travel days, it's a fortune! Even condoms are not as expensive and essential to life as “Botox”, as we all know. So maybe you can consider buying in boxes of 100 units. They are about 50,00EUR per box, which gives 0,50EUR per unit. They come in individual packaging and are easily stored in any pocket. The choice of using these soft plastic or foam ones will be a personal preference. Although there are those who say that the foam ones come out of the ear, this is due to not knowing how to apply them correctly. They only come out if they are poorly applied. Even in situations where we sweat like race horses, the sweat running down our face, doesn't come out of the ear. In my humble opinion, they are the most effective in reducing noise and the most ergonomic. And the ones I prefer, if I can choose. Congratulations on the video. And you have one more subscriber. Keep up the good work. ✌

Hey there! Thanks for such a complete comment! I dont agree 100% with it thought...i've been using that pair of earplugs for almost 2 weeks now. If i was using 2 sets a day i would definitely prefer the foam disposable ones you mention (however i dont like how they fit usually). As for the wax...i think that depends a lot on the ear. I dont get that much wax, and you can wash these plugs with soap and water on any bathroom. I dont know. I understand your points but i think they can be easily solved with a bit of adaptation :)

I have a pair of silicone moulded earplugs. I can use them all day and they are easy to clean and use again. Pricy.. well yes but I like to keep my hearing.

I had some ear plugs made for my ears but I don't think they reduce enough.. I used "yellow foam plugs" for many years but they usually hurt me after a couple of hours. I have to put them very far in.. Last year I found a new type of foam plug with the fitting name "moldex spark plugs"! They are shorter, softer and have a shape that I don't have to push so far in.

Sorry but no! Sure the ones from the pharmacy are better than nothing, BUT... they are nowhere near comparable to the motorcycle specific than the looks! The pharmacy ones just dampens EVERY sound, which is extremely annoying. The motorcycle specify ones have specifically designed filters, that filter the frequencies for example coming from wind noise, but allow other surrounding sounds to pass unfiltered, so one does hear the cars, sirenes, the shouting of your riding buddy around you even better. Really awesome (at least for Europe, not sure if available elsewhere) ones that I for example use for over 8 years now are the Alpine Motosafe. They come in at around 20€ which shouldn't be too expensive to protect your hearing. Used them on my race bike doing longer Autobahn-rides (sometimes 250km/h+) and with the Adventurebike with the MX helmet and goggles on daytrips on paved roads. No beeping, no buzzin, no nothing. Take them out, wash them, go to bed and fall asleep without any annoying sounds in your head. Cheerz!

@OFFroadOFFcourse Год назад
Hey man, thanks for the long reply :D and for watching! The thing is, the pharmacy ones only get you down a few decibels, they dont close you in a buble of silence, so you definitely still hear everything around you. Actually, i am surprised how much they help with the riding/wind noise considering how little they stop me from hearing people and other stuff (at least the ones i've been trying). Anyway, my point was not to tell people the pharmacy ones are the best option ever, it was just to encourage people to try first "the technology" with something very accessible :) If they like it, then they may dig deeper and invest if they feel like it

Nice! If you love riding and ride a lot I even recommend to go to the Acoustics Specialist and create some custom ones. Perfect fit and Noise Canceling over the complete Day without any Pain. The cheap ones work too, but for me they got uncomfortable after quite a while. Best spent Money.

I totally agree, but in Spain it is technically forbidden to drive on the road with something that reduces your sensory capacity. Obviously the police must stop you and realize that you are wearing them... Something that may not happen... But if you get caught, you will be sanctioned for sure.. This affects the plugs, and also the intercoms.

In France I think that in ear headphones are not allowed but that ear plugs are. In helmet speakers are allowed for sat Nav etc.

There's a huge difference in laws between hearing protection and for example in-ear headphones! In-ears are also forbidden here in Germany, but earplugs are allowed and even welcomed by the "race directors"

I recommend 3M's orange foam ear plugs available in pharmacies. Been using them for years. They are extremely effective at noise suppression (yet you can still get the gist of what people are trying to say to you at a petrol station while wearing a helmet) and each pair lasts weeks until it gets too dirty (just keep them in a case when not in ears). I pay online ~2 Euro per 10 pairs. I tried Alpine MotoSafe Pro (20+ Euro per 2 sets) - which people rave about - and they are a joke in comparison. With the more protective Alpine pair you can get up to max 120km/h on a naked motorbike before noise gets too bad. I have not discovered speed limits with 3Ms and I've been past 200km/h.

Isso é sinal que tens tido bons capacetes. Caso os capacetes fossem barulhentos já tinhas usado há bastante tempo. 😁 Como eu por exemplo. 😅 Agora a sério...
