No need to melt casing to get open, just get a thin flat bladed screwdriver and price apart - I used a small flat knife 😉

good idea to repair it instead of waiting days for a new part, and it is always interesting and satisfactory to be able to repair something. I just repaired it - I opened it with a knife, removed the metal contacts, cleaned it with sandpaper, assembled it back...click and it works again. thanks

My dear friend probably does not understand what this is all about. I would be happy to explain for you for free: 1. It is a hobby for leisure time, for your hobby you pay money, and do not save money. 2. This is a repair that repeats itself every few years, so for your information, I have already saved at least the purchase of 10 switches such as. 3. Sometimes you are already in the middle of another job, and find that this switch needs to be replace, and you do not have the replacement part, and everything is open, and more efficient to repair what that exists. 4. I do not know why you think that repair that takes a minute is worth 100$. 5. You do not learn mechanics in one day, you start from the small and simple job, the learning is costs you money, and learning mistakes are cheaper when you practicing them on a cheap parts, like this switch.

It's a $20 part, where I am. And getting it takes time. Versus doing a 5 minute fix. Learning something at the same time. Different peoples minds work in very different ways I guess.

Hello to sir from Thailand. Thanks for the information and sharing. 👍🙂♥️ I've been doing this fix for over twelve years, on average once a year, even once I added a layer of tin. When you get used to it, the fix takes seconds. I still have the original switch🤭🤩

That part costs literally 30 cent on Aliexpress. I mean.. for a the 30 day until that arrives okay.. but this part better be waterproof for sure on the long run.
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling

Every two years, the contacts get dirty, or catch rust, and then the process is to clean them. I am with the original switch from 2010, and thanks to the periodic maintenance it still works like a new. It's more convenient for me to clean it, than to order a new one. P.S There is no need for the switch to be waterproof.

I just tried to fix mine. I split the case and the contacts were really corroded. I sanded them and according to the test light it worked. I put it on my bike and it only worked intermittently. Good thing I had bought another one. If you do this be safe and make sure it works consistently. A new one is only $9 usd

Well done to you for trying to fix the micro-switch. Not always there is enough time left to return for fix a failing self repair. Yes, as far as I know, this is a cheap component. I personally have never bought it, and my repair has been hold on for almost ten years. Do-it-yourself hobby is a leisure-time amusement, as every hobby is takes money, and not always saving money. At the high levels skilled amateur, yes, you can save money. The task of repairing the micro-switch is one of the easy tasks. I understand that you have succeeded in the task of replacing a micro-switch with a new micro-switch, which that also very nice. Well done.

when u put it back, does it matter which wire u attach to which pin? im noob on electronics..
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling 8 лет назад
+Stefan Pihlgren Hi, and thanks for your comment. Good question. In my INNOVA, originally, the manufacturer was connected the black wire in the front. According to Haynes Guide, page 8*11 picture 14.2 the black wire is in the back. I am not a qualified electrician, as I understand, and according to the electric diagram it does not seem that important. Usually it is very important to connect the connectors in the right direction, and incorrect connection may lead a lot of damage. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bTV70ZbyUjo.html

Sir me i ask, my handbrake switch is new but not function there's no light. If i use footbrake it's o.k there have a light
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling 4 года назад
Hi. Try to shorten the terminals at the input of the switch, if there is a light, the problem is in the switch, if there is no light you should check the wires. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bTV70ZbyUjo.html (For control check that at the same time pressing the foot brake does activate the light)

Sorry, i do not know. If you like to play with it(It is also should be a cheap part), when you will removed it from the motorcycle, and if it will be possible, open it, and clean the contacts. Most of the problem is in contacts that oxidize over the years, receive green oxide and stop to lead electricity. good lacke!

@@thanos7292 It is possible to open the switch by grinding the 3 plastic pins that closes its two halves. Repairing this switch is a good opportunity to practice mechanics skills without risking losing a valuable part. Keep enjoying what you do, and safe riding.

@@MyINNOVAMotorcycling there is 'saving money' and 'being tighter than a flies arsehole' If your front switch has failed, you still have your rear one, so I think with things such as next day delivery, spending £2 on a new one is a sensible approach as opposed to bodging a failed one.
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling 5 лет назад
Martyn Robinson You insist on missing the point: It's not all about money(Because saving money in this case is negligible), it's the fun of a hobby(DIY), and sometimes there's no store available for purchase (some people live in deferred areas). Your explanation abut the "backup" of the rear brake switch is correct, but it does not help to repair or replace the front brake switch. It should be clarified that the repair holds the life time of a new switch, even better than a new one, it is not a temporary repair. Besides, the repair (To someone who has done it once), takes less time than the time it takes to buy a new switch.
