yes planning on the run seems to bring unseen opportunities. I am glad you are enjoying the series. Well if you are impressed with Royal Enfield - Himalayan now wait until series 2 in the Flinders Rangers and in North Western Australia in the Bungle Bungles, the bike was way more capable than I thought.

@@freewayproject Great!! Can't wait to see it. It's a beautiful ride and easy most times. And when I went through the puddles they were hard on the bottom so I just ploughed through them, so much fun. That one from Port has never been good. I've only ever done it in a 4wd car, and it's hard with that! There are so many trails west of me at the Watagans if you ever come back down. Be safe! 🤩

The biggest issue has always been the wind when traveling at 100kph+ with a board but, I have been think of riding through a country where there is a lot of surf spots to be explore and most of the time you can only go 60kph. It is definitely on this list

Just found your channel via FB. Super images and commentary, such a nice relaxed travel vlog, I really like the narrative and history too. By chance what cameras are you using for the video except for the drone? Tassie is a special place on a bike, especially the West Coast, so remote and unlike anywhere else, just the fauna itself is so unique. Subscribed and looking forward to watching more content. Thanks 🙏

@freewayproject Год назад
Thanks Neil, glad you enjoyed the video and yes the west coast is a special place. The cameras I am using are a DJI osmo action for shots from the motorbike, most of the other filming is done with a Sony A7SIII and sometime I might film with the camera I use for photos which is a Sony A7RIII (if I am taking photos and decide to get a video clip or 2 rather then pull out the film camera) and I have an old DJI Mavic Pro form 2016. Glad you are along for the ride.

You captured the wild west perfectly! Also (don't know if I have mentioned it in a previous comment) I am thinking of buying a Himalayan. This video gave me new-found belief in it's capabilities and dependability. How is it for you and what year is yours? Is this your first RE? Cheers from Canada!

Mine is a 2021, I got it second hand, it has done about 2000km. It has been great for me, I wanted a bike to go explore, so needed it to be decent on road and off road which it is. It's not a dirt bike but I have gear and camera gear on it so I am not going to be pushing it as hard as I would a dirt bike. The specs on it aren't world betting but the torque is all low down in the engine which is great for getting through rocky tight tracks, even sand if it's not over 12inches deep. If you want to go fast there are other bike (but it will sit on 110kmph all day which is the maximum speed limit here). I have dropped mine a bunch of times but it just gets up and goes again. It's comfortable to ride sitting or standing, the standing position is close to my dirt bike so I really like it. If you were over 6ft you might need to adjust the handle bars etc as it is perfect for a 5'10 person. So again it a great bike to explore on.

I can understand not lugging a Board with you on this trip (though the Himalayan looks like it'd take a rack well), but Joe, I feel for you checking Surf Spots with not so much as a pair of kicks.. Going "inland to see what you can find.."..? I do hope that's a Surf Shop with kicks, Surf Mat, Handplane and what thickness Wettie would you need there? I'm guessing 3/2 is ample for Summertime at least? That, a Mat with a pair of kicks in a Wet Bag really wouldn't be much weight or volume to truck around, but afford you the opportunity to Surf. Whilst on the subject of Surf, I notice all your Fish Documentary extended interviews are no longer available, 'you doing something with them?
@freewayproject
@freewayproject Год назад
Hi Simon, yes it's a bit of a dilemma to take or not take a surfboard. If I was only traveling along a coast line that had surf then definitely (actually I have plans for another trip to do this and yes there is an easy way to attach a board rack but boards don't travel well at 100kmph (wind issues) on a motorbike so it's somewhere were you would be traveling that fast). I have recently found out I am probably carrying to much weight already but you'll see that in a video soon. The extended interviews are just hidden for the moment, it is do to the RU-vid algorithm. It is putting the motorbike video in front of people who were interested in extended surf related interviews and although some people like both most do not so the CTR (click through rate) when the video appears on peoples RU-vid they are not clicking as it is not what they are looking for so the CTR is low for the motorbike videos. So just trying to help the RU-vid algorithm find the right audience for these types of videos, I will make them public again in the future.

Hello! Very Nice videos! Easy to watch! I have one question, when it is so much venomos snakes around you aren't you afraid that they will end up under your tent for example? I live in Sweden, and we have only one venomous viper but I wouldn't feel awesome in a tent and potentially get bitten through the tent! 😅 cheers
@freewayproject
@freewayproject Год назад
Hi Dannelind, no I am not afraid of the snakes, especially in a tent. Snake strike when they are afraid or think they are under attack. There would be no reason for a snake to bit a tent as it is not moving and posses no threat to them. Here is an example of what to do around a snake ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uVH_rTyF7EQ.html this is a brown snake the second deadliest snake in the world, see how the girl does not move, stays calm. the important thing to remember is to always I mean always zip up your tent went camping, never leave it open because if you left it open and a snake got in, then you got in you would probably lay on it and it would feel threation so would probably attack. Also most of the time I have boots on and kevlar motorbike pants which a snake can not bit through so I keep them on when at a new camp site for a while, the noise of me walking around will normally make the snake move on. Hope that helps.

Absolutely beautiful area. You are a definite explorer!! Such a cool town and awesome surf!! How’s the new chain doing and what made you choose that one?? Also, what make of tires are you using? Thanks, Willie
@freewayproject
@freewayproject Год назад
The chain is all good, I have learnt I need to clean it after every dirt or sand ride (just like my dirt bike). The reason I got that one was it was the only chain I could get my hands on that would fit. The front tire is still stock the CET and the back I have a dunlop d605, as I thought I might end up in deeper sand and some rougher trails which I have so the knobby tire was great for traction.

Yes. It’s actually a great bike to start on. Reliable, not stupid power which can get you in trouble, it capable off road so you can get a taste of that. It’s cheap, you can drop it and it won’t damage the bike, there are a lot more good points for it being a first bike

@freewayproject Год назад
Good pick up mate, well the engine warning/check light (the light you are referring to) comes on when the bike goes horizontal, in other words when I drop the bike and it is on its side on the ground, actually it also comes on when the bike ends up upside down too (long story). I gather it is suggesting to check your bike, it goes off after a period of time (not sure the exact time). So yes...... I know this from dropping my bike a lot on dirt and in the sand tracks. it was on in the video as I had laid the bike down over those rocks on the way to the surf spot but as I was not filming at the time I did not put it in the video. What's the riding like in the Netherlands?

Hi Cassidy, the LED headlight came with the bike, but had a quick look on eBay and found what seem to be an exact match to it (link below). But in the right location I think it will be worth creating a bracket for the board, and I know which country it will be through, there are plans in the works.
