I've got a Forcite MK1S. I live in Sydney not far from the company, and have gone to many of their events over the years before they started production. So I had a fair bit of confidence before shelling out the cash, and I don't regret it. It's a nice riding experience. The info it gives you is just enough to be useful, not too much to be distracting and gimmicky. And even if you don't turn any of the "smart" bits on, you still have a lightweight, comfortable helmet.

A helmet that in the mark 1 gave the majority of owners severe headaches because the helmets don't fit well and cause massive wind noise going over 60km/h and with such terrible speakers that when people replaced them with actually well made speakers then turned on said customers and denied them warranty on helmets for things that weren't related. They lied about when the helmets were being made and then kept changing the designs but sold the product initially as a finished prototype. Don't buy forcite it's all fluff and the current buyers are nothing but guinea pigs to get to final product that might actually be worth the money they keep asking.

@@warmage247 I know what you mean. I first heard of them when they were trying the angle of a ‘radar detector in your helmet’ and instantly thought “but wouldn’t it take the cops all of 30 seconds to realise they could just give everyone with a forcite helmet a ticket for using a radar detector?” And forgot about them. Then when I went to mention it to someone else a few months later, they’d pivoted the whole thing, and now I see they’ve changed everything again. To me they’re very very startup, and the jury is still out on whether they’re the kind in it for the long haul working through teething problems, or whether they’re just the get investors money and cash out kind
@Gunks_
@Gunks_ Год назад
@@Bobby-wn5yr What cops are in your area that can ID a helmet at 60mph? Cops here couldn't tell me what bike I'm on, let alone the helmet. The only scenarios where this plays out is they've already pulled you over, you're sitting beside them in traffic, or they ticket you after you've stopped. The Forcite is not nearly distinct enough to be recognizable in 99% of situations, and that assumes the cop even remembers this is a thing.

@@Gunks_ traffic cops know all the popular bikes … traffic enforcement is their business? As for helmets, if I can tell what helmet the guy infront has, so can cops, and as I say it isn’t going to take long to start enforcing if one brand has a radar detector in it lol, so that’s all just BS really. It’s the kind of thing bikers tell each other ‘ah you’ll be fine cops know nothing about bikes’. It isn’t true but we wish it were some times. Maybe where you are you’ve just got those slow thick cops from the movies that just eat donuts and hate lefties, but here in Aus… yeah you’re not gonna get away with it for long if there’s actual radar detectors in the helmet. Not to mention the cop cars have radar detector-detectors. Probably why that all went away in favour of the actually legal google maps option. But yeah of course traffic stops. You know.. like they do all the time. Before you showed the forcite helmet I was thinking EXACTLY that solution. A peripheral vision based non-blinding "marker" of somekind that just makes you aware of things without being distracting. There's also another serious problem with look-through HUDs and augmented reality that few people outside of niche researchers and bleeding edge gamers are aware of: Simsickness. Building something that your eye can look *through* and cleanly see the world properly is very hard to do, and the slightest miscalculation will lead to migraines and nausea at best.

I lately had the idea of a HUD helmet with rear camera because it's something i desperatly need for higher speeds. I can't see my mirrors anymore when I lay down on my bike and I certainly don't want to put my life into a green LED bar showing me that there isn't a car behind me before a lane change. That is an absolute no go. I have no possibility to be sure the thing is working or just pointing the wrong angle or something. No way to check for a false positive while with a camera view I can atleast see when the system has a problem. It's sad to hear that no manufacturer made it work but it is by no means a non existant problem.

The reason the fighter jet HUD requires so much more, is because it matches the view to the environment. Great video, I bought a founders edition Forcite Helmet and then bought the new MK1. Huge supporter of this company and now would not wear any other helmet. I thought going from an open face to a full face would be awful, not so, the vision is great with this helmet, it's also comfortable and super light. The camera footage for me is on point. My husband also has a Forcite Helmet and was side swiped by a car on a freeway doing 100km, the footage was given to the insurance company and it showed the car driver at fault. So no black mark against his name and they paid out on the claim. Good outcome as the bike was brand new. Love all the tech this Helmet has and to make things even better, Forcites after sales and customer service is like nothing I have ever experienced, they do this weird thing where when you contact them they actually respond and genuinely want to solve any issues you may have they have nailed it. They are also interested in customer feedback, you talk, they listen. Super proud to be part of the Forcite journey and seeing other riders buying and enjoying this fantastic product.

Don't buy forcite. Company ceo has a criminal history and the company is honestly full of fluff. They denied customers warranty on helmets because they changed the terrible speakers on them.. Not to mention the terrible headache users were given from the helmets well documented wind noise caused by bad fitting. The forcite helmet is a product in testing. You're a guinea pig to them and paying double what the helmet is worth. Till they make a final and probably not awful product. Forcite are happy to oblige customers if you tow their propaganda. If you have a problem with their product they don't want to hear it and fob you off. I got to wear my founders edition once and realised I made a huge mistake. Despite waiting two years after the promised date when asked for refund due to many issues and wrong size given they denied refund because I had ordered it so long ago. I used to fly Apache helicopters and we had a Helmet Display Unit (HDU) that attached to the side of the helmet and then we could rotate the display in front of our right eye. The main purpose was to provide a FLIR image that we could look through. It was difficult to get used to, but after awhile, it worked very well. We could also project flight symbology and weapons symbology onto the reticle and during the day we would just use the symbology. An unauthorized, but often used method at night was to use the FLIR image on the right eye while wearing NVGs that covered both eyes. The right eye would only see the FLIR image even though the NVG was also there, and the left eye would see the NVG image.

Alternatively, I'd design a slightly cheaper helmet that doesn't have anything built in, but is designed to incorporate what you already own, such as a gopro or sena. The camera location and obvious position of the sena wouldn't be different, but you'd get the quality of a stabilized camera and known communication device.

As a developer I don't like any of those. Skully and Nuviz (or Dvision) aren't HUDs, they're tiny monitors. Skully and Foresight are bound to shell and software. If you want a truly great experience use standards and let people innovate over it. Imagine a tiny (about ¼ of GoPro) camera unit that mounts inside your helmet near the upper edge of your visor by sticking a piece between your shell and its foam just in your natural blind spot. Then imagine it displays a monochromatic image straight on your visor - no monitors, just laser. It doesn't contain a battery because it's powered externally by any USB-C cable so you can stick a power bank in your pocket or to the back of your helmet and just connect it with a thin hidden cable, or even connect it directly to your motorcycle battery if you don't mind a tether. You calibrate it by adjusting markers on your visor to match what's on your phone screen. Then imagine its stupid. Its only functionality is to track objects in front of you, pair with your phone and display whatever the phone tells it to. The phone app doesn't provide much functionality either - it can do just 3 things: 1. calibrate the device, 2. pass the image objects tracking image, 3. tell the device to copy whatever's on your phone screen in horizontal position, put it through a filter and display it on your visor. Your phone does everything. You want Google Maps? The app passes it through filter to make it monochromatic and ignore some clutter and displays it over what you see on the road. You want your friends position? Waze + filter. Same goes for *any* app because you can easily write your own filters or download one made by the community. You want a lean angle, incline and speed? Yamaha MyRide + filter. Everything's controlled by voice commands because your phone already does that. It's not only cheap to make. It's limitless when it comes to extending the usability and opens a whole new market for an unmet before level of experience - anyone can release a dedicated app, anyone can release a dedicated gadget like maybe a handlebar mounted left and right proximity sensors that warn you when someone tries to change lane into you, and with nowadays Android capability to display over apps (think bubble heads, etc) why not extends existing apps, e.g. add your friends position to Google Maps, connect your phone to your motorcycle and add stuff like engine temperature, fuel economy or battery voltage. By making your phone the brain of the operation, using Bluetooth and external charging you make it so universal it will sell even with 300% fee over production cost and after a year or so when you get copycats you can still sell it for 200% and make decent profit. You don't need much development software-wise because it's open, people will develop for themselves. You can specialize in making perfect HUD and HUD only.

Hi, never has Keep It Simple Stupid been more applicable 😁. Satnav directions thru speakers connected to my phone is the pinnacle of usefulness so far for me. It is loud enough and not distorted and overcomes the issues of a console mounted GPS, distortion, bright light obscuring screen, rain distorting screen, dust obscuring the screen. You get the picture and don’t even mention audio instructions.

If you want to have a HUD without fighting the Sun, easier approach than overpowering the sun is to use electronic ND to dim the sun during day rides. Or more low-tech approach: a black visor over the normal visor. So at some design costs the HUD ought to be possible. But maybe expect a good product to be expensive and don’t waste money on it before there are positive independent reviews.

Please also remember different helmet manufacturers FIT differently! You might be a Medium in a Bell & a Large in Shoei. That's because they have to take the dimensions of everyone's head and average that out for the best fit. So, if you're ordering your helmet online, BE SURE TO CHECK THE COMPANY'S RETURN POLICY should the helmet not fit you correctly.

Yep, me again. Couldn't resist making a comment about this little gem that I found on their website. "Riding a motorcycle is a visceral, tactile, cognitive rich experience. As a rider, when you earn the trust and respect of your motorcycle and vice versa, it becomes an extension of your senses, and seemingly your very being." I can definitely state, sadly, that I have never earned the trust or respect of my motorcycle. In fact, despite our many years together I still find it hiding in the corner, shaking with fear, and have to gently coax it with premium grade oil out of the garage before it will allow me to ride. Before anyone asks, no, I have never abused my bike. But I bought it second hand, so who knows what horrors it may have endured at the hands of its first owner. With this in mind, I have arranged for us to see a Suzuki certified therapist. Hopefully, it will prove successful, and neither of us will have to be put down.

I had the initial pleasure and then disappointment of owning Nuviz. Despite being bulky and noisy, it actually worked. It's customer service also worked as I was a to get a replacement after first one stopped working in the rain. It had cold weather issues and the stupid battery door was a pain. But customer service handled issues. The device worked and worked great. The thumb controller provided hands on the bar control without the need to play around with device itself while riding. Fast forward to company failing to secure distribution of units, running out of money and well closing doors. The device continued to work though, issues and all. Until something weird happen and Nuviz would display update required and try to call the mothers hip. As it turns out Nuviz used a proprietary mapping software and when hard programmed license code expired, boom it went. Because of the way it was built, expired license would prevent entire startup rendering all of its features useless.
