Man, I love both of those guys! They are nearly polar opposites voice-wise...both are (were in Lem's case sadly) incredible. I hope Rob is still with us for many many years.
Dee Snider said when Twisted Sister first went to England to play at a big festival people kept telling him when you walk out here, dressed like that, people are gonna eat you alive. Lemme, knowing this, and having much respect from the crowd, walked out to introduce them himself, saying they were his friends, and they were a great band. What a cool guy.
Two massive legends and not an ounce of arrogance in them.i would have loved to chill in a local pub with a bottle of Jack with these guys just listening to the stories they could talk about.
Tony Howell I was never lucky enough to meet Lemmy, but I’ve not heard anyone who did say a single thing bad about him. I look up to him in a way as he said a lot of things that really resonate with me. Had I met him, I would have been content to merely thank him for making my life better.
@@catjudo1 me too :) fellow Capricorn, same real name, major fan since I was a teenager, was lucky enough to see them in very intimate quarters once though, the guy was my hero, a hard working rocker who never once sold out or gave a half effort, all old school and absolutely 100 RIP
Was at a Danko Jones concert last weekend. Seen him many times. His last song at EVERY concert over the years is called Mountain. In it, he praises many of the metal and rock gods who have passed on. He mentioned Phil at the last one, but saves Lemmy for last at EVERY show! Lemmy also commented to Danko when Danko was in awe of him and said I wish I could be sound like you guys. Lemmy responded with a cool "you got your own sound man! You're Danko Fucking Jones! Be proud of it!"
Brian Sauer Awesome. That's what you want, need & should hear from your peers. Positive juju. I've seen Priest 12×, Motorhead, only 2×. You could reverse those numbers, & I would still be a very satisfied & happy guy. On a funny note: My old bassist got to hang with Lemmy one night, back in the 80s I think. He said Lemmy's bass case reeked of vomit & beer/alcohol. Haha Gotta love a memory with olfactory components. R.I.P., Lemmy
This is why metal is the greatest genre. The heavy weights we all love show nothing but love & respect for each other. It creates a global family of metal heads. By comparison, look at the wankers in hip-hop & pop, all trying to outdo each other and shit talk their peers.
There have been plenty of beefs in hard rock and metal over the years. I'm a die-hard metal head, but there's just as much pettiness and backbiting in our genre as others, especially in the '80s and '90s. No need to try to romanticize it.
@@keefriff99 There's petty infighting & then there's "popping caps in that n**gas ass for dissin' me". Big difference. When Mustaine was booted from Metallica, did he return with his homies & do a drive by? No. He formed his own kickass band, became successful and later went on to reconcile with Metallica. Rockers & Metallers don't kill each other.
@@paradigm_sh1ft532 None of this has ever happened in hip hop ever. Youre taking one small portion of hip hop culture, which isnt really hip hop as its more trap and drill music culture and using it to generalize an entire genre and culture. Rappers diss eachother over records because its competition and its part of that particular culture. Simple as that. Biggie and tupac weren't killed by other rappers, neither was Big L or Proof or fat pat etc. Ive never heard of a rapper killing another rapper in a driveby. Also The quote "poppin caps in that ni**gas ass for dissin me" is not an official lyric from a rapper so I see that as a racial charicature of how a narrowminded person sees a culture/ genre they do not know. If you only like metal/hard rock thats fine. It doesnt make it fine to talk bad about a culture you have no knowledge in. Rap isnt just about killing and drugs. Thats just a small portion, Much like all metal isnt about burning churches and murdering.
@@konobuzoggu239 not just British, but Brummie and British! Just like me, born in the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield. Tea is my drink as well, strong and black, like my women
Incredibly grounded and such a humble and modest man, with an extraordinary voice . . . Definitely one of my heroes . . . Nice to see him not being interviewed about 'being gay' for a change!
seen priest in oct 2014 in detroit. and rob halford getting older still has it. top 3 concerts ive been blessed to have seen. unfortunantly i never got to see motorhead and thats rough. motorhead and judas priest are 2 huge reason i love metal and hard rock music. RIP LEMMY!
NIC ROOD I saw Priest in October 2015, first time and was a life long dream, I was blown away at just how well he sounds. It was like listening to the albums, no difference at all. Well there is,, but its hard to explain if you’ve never seen them live.
I saw Motorhead several times, the last being in Charlotte, NC several years before Lemmy died. I knew how loud it would be from previous shows so I asked my buddy if he wanted an extra pair of earplugs I brought. I knew he would say "Nah, that's pussy." Well, Motorhead began to play and it was already louder than anything my friend had ever heard. Lemmy said "Do you want us to turn it up louder?" and everyone roared their approval. So they turned it up and my buddy started tapping urgently on my arm, yelling "Alright, lemme have 'em! Lemme have 'em!" Lol! Everything louder than everything else! 🤘😼🤘
@@CBT5777 both very good (I'm a huge fan of tony moore and riot in general) but non-comparable with the stunning power of halford's voice, not mentioning his onstage presence and charisma
Rob Halford is a national treasure. His voice has the same passion and range as Freddie Mercury. I remember an interview with Heart's Ann Wilson, who said a lot of the same things as to taking care of her (amazing) voice. I'm just wondering why Mr. Halford has the smallest eyebrows of any human being I've ever seen! Rock on, Metal God, rock on...
Paul McCartney and James Hetfield aren't in this video. Neither of these guys ever had a hit and Moterhead's most famous song is a professional wrestling intro.
Rob genuinely loved Lemmy. And same back. Respect to both. RIP Lemmy. Miss you bad. Cannot believe I will never see another Motörhead gig after 32 yrs of seeing you live. Sucks. 😥
Rob and Lemmy, 2 of the greatest rockers ever. Man, what a conversation that would be to sit with those guys and just listen to the details of their lives. Always admired their dedication to their music and their fans, and absolutely embodying rock and roll no matter their different approach. \m/
Dio, Halford and Lemmy are one of the best voices of Metal. Hope I can see Halford on concert for another time. I missed motorhead when they were at my country and I regret that I couldn't hear Lemmy one last time.
Love JUDAS PRIEST,Rob halford one of the best lead singers ever, regardless of genre, lucky enough to have seen them twice only live, never disappointed, and to watch Glenn Tipton live,WOW,one of my favourite metal players🤘
Lemmy is the only old school rock and roll heavy weight that never gave a boring interview. All the others naff on and on - Lemmy; short and sharp with a couple jokes chucked in.
In the 90s, I was crew chief on a non union production crew. We got the contract for Anthrax, Fight and Rob Zombie. Day 1 I met Rob Halford, whom I was a huge fan of. He is hands down one of the nicest people I have ever met, and as professional as they come. Had breakfast with every day, sometimes lunch and dinner. That tour was my number one, and I've done so many I can't remember half of them. We also toured with Bkack Sabbath, Motorhead, and Morbid Angel. I got completely wasted with Lemmy after the show. He and Rob are shoukder to shoulder as people in their profession goes. Lemme was a huge lover of WWll history, and during the day I sat with him going over a stack of books on the subject, and I learned quite a bit of that history. I'm also a huge WWll nut too. It's a shame he has passed on...
@@freedom2084, he was a little over the top, but I'm guessing it was due to the fact he was on tour for the first time, amd whom he was working with. Nothing too over the top though.
*LONG LIVE ROB! WE LOVE YOU FOR FUCKSAKE! WE WISH YOU HEALTH AND A LONG PEACEFUL LIFE! AND VERY LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE YOU ROCKING THE HELL OUT OF US ON STAGE IN TOURS!*
Rob being gay was such a non-issue, even back in the day when we all thought it, but never said it. And his profound respect, reciprocated by Lemmy, well, that's the best of heavy metal and rock, isn't it?? RIP Ian Fraser Kilmister, you are so very loved.
:grins: You remind me of a day back in my teens, when Killing Machine (US title Hell Bent for Leather) had just been released. A group of us were listening to the new LP and one of us, out of the blue said "Rob Halford's gay, you know". As one, nearly the whole group said "And?" ... and the matter never came up again :chuckles:
Ace of Spades is one of the greatest videos ever recorded Lemmy and the boys kick ass Rob has the voice of an Angel he is spot on practice always no matter how famous you are or it will show up on stage with sloppy performances.
In the early ‘90s, at Lulu’s in Kitchener Ontario, I got to see Motörhead open for Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio on vocals, (Sabbath). That show still ranks within the top five concerts I’ve ever been to. Wanna talk about loud? I had ringing in my ears (acute tinnitus) until the morning of the third day after! I can only imagine that gig was a smaller, extended part of a tour, if only to promote Sabbath’s release of “Time Machine” on the “Wayne’s World” soundtrack. Still... my friends an I were lucky-as-fuck to score tickets. : )
