Good advice, clearest explanation I've come across yet. One question if I may, if I do get stopped by the police or whoever how do they know if you're over the limit or indeed under the limit?, always had me puzzled as my area do not have any public weighbridges.
John Kirkwood Don't know how they do it in the UK, but in the Netherlands they either carry a mobile vehicle weighing system (two plates you drive onto) or they take you to a nearby weighing station for lorries.
To get a true unladen weight you should have a full tank of fuel and if your going to travel with water in your tanks that as well and full gas tanks that would give you a better idea of what and how many people you can carry iwould say 99%of motorhomes are over weight whistle travelling to and from the holiday destinations. But for some reason the police and DVSA turn a blind eye but hound the life out of us commercial vehicle users an over loaded vehicle is dangerous know matter what it is.
