we got a motorized pot sample in and wanted to test it out. this is a 10K linear slide pot with a small 5V motor on the bottom that has a small belt to move the slider automatically. some very fancy a/v boards use these so you can quick change presets. we're testing the motor movement with a DRV8830 STEMMA QT breakout we designed before covid and then sorta got distracted from. the pots are on order now, and we'll also try to release this lil breakout!

expensive studio mixing consoles have those for volume controls. you can store presets and it'll move the sliders. closed loop control of course. even "force feedback" is just a few tweaks to the control loop. you can apply a limit to the rate of change, or you can create detents that are purely defined by electronics/software.

Yep. They allow mix setups to be saved, and recalled electronically. The alternative is making a note of every fader position, and manually putting them back into those positions.

Yeah I think you're right. I've had several over the years. I found mostly found them in home audio systems. Generally used as a remote controlled volume or like you said audio mixers treble bass ECT

I have one of these, and with a planned use in mind, but the lack of breakout boards have made it harder to work with, so I would love to see you produce this

A useless machine, but it's one of these. Every time you try to turn the volume up it puts it back down.

Are they available in a shorter size? How does the resistive tolerance vary between each unit? What would be their approximate cost?

I remember someone made a pong game with a bunch of these. Made me wonder if you could make a small bowden 3D printer with enough of these. Definitely a plot bot or maybe a real-life homework machine. Friends can do each others homework if done over the webs. Well thats what I thinking about. These look like fun
