I got one as my backup/work phone a couple of weeks ago, based on this review. For such a cheap phone it is really responsive, butter smooth UI and a ton of storage. Given how I use phones (no gaming, mostly email/web/IM) this would do me fine for extended periods of use as my main device.
I got the Moto G54 Power Edition (12GB ram and 6000mah battery) for 200 EUR in October 2023. By far, this is the best phone I have ever had, especially for that price range- great performance + outstanding battery life, a good enough 120hz refresh rate display. I love that pure Android experience as I don't like the skins of the other UIs because they tend to slow the phones down after a certain amount of time. After the Android 14 update, the phone is flying 🎉
Got last year's version (g53) for free with my new contract. Its nothing fancy but solid simple phone that covers all the basics. Battery is basically endless.
I got a G53 too, absolutely love it but only problem is that I broke it before I got a case. And the screen doesnt have gorilla or pandaglass so it shattered, that's why I'm buying a G54 for a 100€!
How is it that these budgets phones have the basic features like FM Radio, 3.5mm jack & SD card whereas the premium phones you pay an arm & a leg for can't supply these basic features which I think should be mandatory on Android phones.
I guess they assume people who spend this much money aren't gonna bother with wired headphones or using SD cards. I'm honestly not sure if these premium phones are even worth the price.
In the early days i agree with you but wireless headphones are often as cheap as wired ones now.. you can get a gald decent pair of wireless ones for £10-£15. The storage one is because they want you to not pick the base model. If tbey ler you expand the stroage most would always pick the cheapest option and get an SD card. Also you dont need an FM radio on phones abymore, id argue thats a gimic these days, you can use the internet to listen to the radio wbich every phone has? And doesnt need wired headphones in order to work as the antena x
Love your reviews, but one thing that you (or any other reviewers for that matter) never seem to cover these days is signal reception and call quality! I mean, it is a phone after all, and I do actually use mine for making the odd phone call (yes, I know that seems a bit strange these days, and sales staff in mobile phone shops look at me like I've just arrived from another planet whenever I mention that)! This is now the third Motorola phone I have owned, having tried a mid-range Samsung (A53) between the last two, and I find that I get much better signal reception with the Motorola versus the Samsung, and the sound quality on voice calls is much clearer too. My Motorola stays connected to my provider's network (EE) throughout my entire commute (apart from when going through one tunnel), whereas the Samsung (costing around three times as much!) kept dropping out at various points during my regular journey!
My Pixel 6 Pro is in for repairs as it has an area of dead pixels on the screen so I had to buy a cheap phone to tide me over until I get the Pixel back (or hopefully replaced). I purchased the Moto G54 as my temporary replacement phone and I must say that for the price, I'm VERY impressed. It's an amazingly good phone for the price.
Moto's decision to release the g53 months ago is a real head scratcher when compared with this. The g54 outshines it in every way for practically the exact same price.
Totally satisfied with my Moto G54! The super smooth 120Hz display makes scrolling and gaming a breeze, and the battery life is a marathon runner - easily lasts a full day on a single charge. Plus it charges pretty quickly too. The phone itself feels light and comfortable to hold, and the design is pretty slick. One small drawback - the fingerprint sensor seems to be a little slow sometimes which can be a pain. To fix that, I'm thinking about getting a screen protector with built-in fingerprint compatibility from gadgetshieldz. That way I can protect the screen from scratches and still unlock my phone fast.
Why do reviewers not cover the phone call quality? How many mobiles have all the whistles and bells but muffled call quality or inability to receive/send messages in a building (yes, remember the Motorola G7 Power?}. Please include these aspects in future reviews.
@@odauduhassan2583yes, it's a great phone but it's bloody massive and heavy. Not to mention I now realise I'm no fan of victus. G73 is light and nippy enough for everyday tasks. Bonus is I can use it as a sat nav for hours with no worry of screen burn. If I'm going to family events, days out etc I'll take the ultra for the camera. For work and everyday I use the g73 as it's a better daily and just about the only decent phone I can find with a LCD screen.
Build quality. Don’t be concerned. Always get a case. My super duper expensive iPhone’s rear cracked within weeks, in a case! I hate glass and prefer plastic. 256gb of storage is very good. Again pay crap loads more for an iPhone that’ll break if not in an expensive case. I’m making the switch soon.
Far too much emphasis on which Android version you use - in practice there is so little difference that it is never a deal breaker. This is a good cheap phone for 10-30% the cost of a headliner. More money would get you a better phone - but it is the law of diminishing returns and whatever you buy it will be out of date in 18 months. Decent review.
Thank you for this video. Got this phone a couple of days back and really happy with it so far. Got so fed up with apple, updating far too often and gradually killing the older phones until they become unusable.
Craked my S22 ultra and picked this up as a stand in. Im not going to lie but TBH I actually prefer this little beast. Highly recommend. Im in Australia fyi
Hey dude, I am thinking to buy as currently Lebara only works on VOLTE... Australia Does it support Volte??? On Vodafone or Lebara network??? Howmuch U buy??
Already received the phone. Overall its a good device without any crazy design. Camera is good for the price. Mint green colour version with 12 GB Ram and 256 GB storage. Looks very sophisticated .
Hi @Natura804, I'm thinking of getting this phone as my current one is on its last legs. Can you give me more info on how hot it gets? Some reviews I've checked mentioned overheating on multiple recent Moto models and I want to make a good decision considering my budget. Any info you find relevant would be appreciated :) thanks!
@@YueClaudiajust buy it online and use it for a weekend, if it gets hot send it back. I'm just going down to Currys in the UK to get one now. If I remember I will post about it 👍😉
I'm glad there is no mention of heating and battery drain. I believe that is an issue on the Indian variant but it's OK on the UK version. Got mine coming tomorrow so fingers crossed 😅
@@OnlineElevator g54. Because it's a new phone and will get 1 more OS update, i believe it'll probably get android 14. G72 comes with android 12 and even if you get android 13 on g72 it might be laggy or have some issues etc etc. So, g54 is a whole lot better choice
Hey TS, consider testing the headphone jack with cable headphones. For us nerds who are interested in using a cheap phone with SD card reader and headphone port as a music player.
Moto G52 remains superior overall... sometimes i don't understand Motorola, even if im a loyal customer whose 5 last phones were theirs. Super happy with my Edge 30 Ultra, but had g82, g52, g8 Power.
Im so glad it has a memory card slot. I don't personally like cloud storage etc i like having my files saved to computer / memory cards etc. So many phones don't have a slot for some reason
They bring out new phones every five minutes. Try selling a second hand Motorola and see the response. Virtually zilch. Updates are pretty non exsistant . Never will I personally touch another Motorola. After your review of the Realme 9 Pro I decided to purchase one. And am so impressed with it. Thank you so very much for all your videos.
Thats Chinese ownership for you. Look at Xiaomi and all their subsidiaries. They have completely and utterly saturated the market with handsets at every single level and they keep pushing out new handsets every 6-12months.
im really not buying a motorola to sell it second hand later, im buying one to use till it croaks. i personally dont care about android updates its a fkin os and i dont care for constant "features". they get 3 years of secruity updates which is just 1 year less than samsungs so its fine on that front too
Used to jave Motorola G30 that was literally INDESTRUCTIBLE. It's still used as my backup phone. Got this phone for under 100€ thanks to the massive discount from the phone provider. Damn, this phone is amazing! 6000 mAh battery makes this phone last for AGES! For a basic user such as myself, I think this phone is perfect!
Hi I enjoy your channel very informative,I’m looking to by a m54 went to curry’s to have a look at one and it has everything I want. I would like to make a suggestion you see I wear hearing aids as I’m deaf or as the other half would say I suffer with selective hearing 😂. On your reviews could you see if the phone is compatible for hearing aids i think this would be helpful for us deaf buggers ta, Keep up the good work Ian
I can take it for 120-30 euro so im guessing is worth it when is in your top under 200 pounds budget video 😅 i will check every other phone you recommend but i doubt it they beat that price ,the only minus i see is again the size i guess they stop.making around 6 inch displays anymore sadge, cheers mate when it comes to phones you're the person i watch ,have a nice holidays and successful 2024🎉
It's a shame Motorola isnt releasing the G54 and 84 with the same specs in the UK as the Indian versions (G54 6000mah battery, G84 with WiFi 6) as I'd have replaced my trusty G7 power, still going strong but a bit outdated now with one of those and been prepared to accept the limited android update. Since not will prob pay more for Samsung A34, tho no WiFi 6 great battery life with better performance and cameras.
You'll despise the Indian versions. I have a G54, and after 30 minutes of using the camera, you can't hold it without plunging it into a bucket of ice. Also, after 20-25 minutes of gaming, the camera area starts to heat up. Heating issues, camera alright okay. But Moto doesn't harm the device with updates.
I was thinking about switching to Edge 40 Neo from my good ol' p40 lite(this phone is a true champ, the amount of shit it's been thru in my cheesy hands in the past 4 years and it's still working). But now thinking about it: -Do I need 4k video? - Nah, not really -Do I need 144hz p-oled display? - Meh, IPS 120hz sounds fine -Do I want a 3.5mm jack? - Hell yeah;Which one has it? - This one -Side mounted fingerprint scanner which I've already got used to in past 4 years, instead of the under-display one which is more uncomfortable to reach? - Yep, definitely like that one -same storage and RAM+expandable storage -WAY cheaper All in all, sounds great
Hmm thank you, I've made my decision. I needed something to upgrade from my old Lge LM-X430 and I didn't want any Xiaomi, Huawei, Honor or TLC CCP-phones. I always trusted Motorola and I'm glad I will never change that anytime soon 😁
Moto G64y sounds like a serious contender. Gotta see the official specs though! I have been hearing about this one with the associated mediatek chipset that is quite a performer I guess!
@@cumking it'll hang after some days as the hardware ain't that powerful. One can root the device & could put at least 2 more updates but it won't behave the same. I remember using my htc u11 on Android 8 for 3 full years ,even though I had received an Android 9 update. Newer updates aren't always ground breaking. It's only of use if you have a pixel device as you get to use all the new goodies shared by Google other oems don't have all pixel features in their phones.
I been saying now for 3 years that Motorola by far makes the best phones. Nothing can compare for $150!! My ex has a pixel 7 and she constantly has issues with it and literally my 2022 g stylus 5g outperformed her phone
Looks like a good phone in my budget. Thank you for the review. Do you have a website with image samples? I'd like to see what the image quality looks like.
crazy how these phones cost around 20 hours of work in the UK at minimum wage while it's almost 2.5 weeks for me and I make more than the local minimum wage lol my almost 5-years old phone is pretty much a brick atm so I guess I'm buying this one, should be good enough for the next 3-4 years
I have just been experimenting by just taking screenshots of those photo examples and then using a photo editor to see what quality I could get . Even though a screen shot is only 4mb on this laptop, after processing them and then re enlarging. I found that the quality was much better than the original. I therefore would say that showing examples is not much use as they can easily be improved, In fact even those on here can be made almost as good as my more expensive Sony digital camera, In fact with modern AI software buying an expensive phone because it's camera is better is a waste of money.
Really wish he'd do a video with only phones that have full screens. I cant stand the trend of cutting out screen space with awkward shapes or building a camera into the screen... I'd rather have no front camera at all
@@anon6181i have circular cutout on my left corner and you won't even notice it, it's in the notification bar and doesn't get in the way of anything. had slide out motorized selfie camera before, so i thought it's going to be annoying to me, but i literally never notice it at all and i have at least 10 indicator icons in the notif bar at all times
@@shaunofthedead5059 seriously? How is it even possible? How can a device can go over its rated physical limits? By the way I also asked you where do you get these beautiful wallpapers. Kindly let me know.
Wish I'd watched this before ordering, I was expecting it to come with a gel case like other reviews but I guess they don't include it on the UK model for some reason :(
A question here, as odd as it may be: I got the relatively new G54 5G with the new contract for laughable 5 euro (being around 175 on the market which is cool in itself, ok) but I find the camera somewhat worse than my Moto One Zoom (both front and back cams seem better on the One Zoom) but as you might know it's gotten a bit old in many things and yet still better in as many. Question is, can someone tell me if G54 is more worth it than the One Zoom if it makes a little sense? Thanks in advance.
Please guys fast response!!! Should I buy the Motorola Moto G54 5G smartphone 4/128GB or xiaomi redmi 13c 128 gb. If I want the phone for my dad, and I want the best kamera and best for games like pubg
Sorry for late reply i just saw it right now... buy the moto g54 its better and if ur country has the moto g54 power version with 12gb ram and 256gb rom then buy that one....
Hi mate I found this , the moto g73 and Xiaomi redmi note 13 4g for the same price 170 quid. What's your opinion go for moto g54 , g73 or redmi ? I'm not a gaming freak but I use the camera often and videos. I've saw reviews of the redmi note 13 that says the battery is terrible drains very fast and doesn't last and put me off a bit to be honest. Thank you
Does the matt back or the faux leather provide better grip? Having M.S. means I have trouble feeling things in my hands, hence surface texture is really important to me.
Just bought this for 144.99 on John Lewis with 2 year guarantee in indigo blue HAD MY MOTO G7 POWER FOR 5 YEARS AND IT'S STATED TO GO FUNNY SO HAVE TO REPLACE IT BUT PAID 179 POUNDS FOR THAT XXX
Hello I wanted to ask you if at maximum brightness you see outdoors , I have a Redmi Note 8 that you can see , do you think it is lower in brightness ?😏
I baught International version of Moto G54 8gb 256gb it has 5000MAH battery NFC etc 20watts charger 50mp + macro camera, while Indian moto G54 version has 6000MAH battery,33watts charger its available in 8gb 128gb and 12gb ram 256gb or 128gb storage, 50+ 8mp wide angle camera. Also quality of made in India smartphones are greater comparing to made in China international varients, even simple things like sim card tray and washer on chinese made are poor.
Hello, I have a question I am currently using the Galaxy A52s 5g and I am trying to upgrade, I am not sure what to get I have a few options, I care about battery, software and performance for like games on phones I don't really care about the camera, but here are my options: S23-565euro A54-300euro Pixel 7a-450euro Iphone 15-892euro Iphone 14 pro-890euro Out of these options what would be the best value phone, I am leaning towards the S23 but I could be convinced to get something else, any thoughts?
I wish you could easily transfer one phone to another. It's so annoying having to setup a brand new phone and install apps and configure said apps. Sigh.
