Hi Robert, very glad you're excited about it :) You'll not have a need for anything else for years down the road and it will keep you running calls without a hiccup ;) You're more than welcome and I'll be in touch. Wednesday is what I'm thinking for ya! I'll be in touch :)
I'm curious, how did you get the persons name in the lower box when not using channel or zone name for it? It's a bloody great idea for customisation and to prove "hey that's my handheld, give it back a@@hole" when someone tries to take it for themselves. Also handy if you use a license number and the handheld is recovered stolen goods from some lowlife... it will match the radio instantly to it's owner without leaving a permanent scar like engraving.
snarlingrabiddog5150 TYVM that looks a lot more secure against light fingers now :). Took a little to find the exact field and wouldn't ya know it, it's one I've been overlooking for some time.
V19 is the best firmware version Motorola has put out. The main thing it does is, if you have a RAM processor instead of a Bravo, it fixes the deficiencies of a RAM processor; when trunked, it always acted up and beeped on PTT. I don't really think that a firmware upgrade is worth it if you are at 12 or higher, unless you have a RAM processor. Stay away from 17 CPS and only use 18. 17 was bricking out radios coast to coast.
Nope. I rarely program units for people but he is a customer and I had to work with what I had and program it to his specs. Channel announcement drove me crazy after about two weeks in my units and I never use that option anymore. I find it really annoying. Its desirable in theory only, as far as I'm concerned.
Thanks! One more question if I were to buy 2 brand new xts or apx radios would they be able to talk with each other right out of the box or would they need to be programmed?
+medeco locks they usually come with a dummy frequency that as per any would be illegal to transmit on without appropriate licensing meaning as mentioned here, programming is required. You will also need to program the radio to get the features from it as well else you might as well just go get some FRS radios.
