"Some real zing to start Oldsmobile's next 100 years" That sure didn't age well... Despite its endless faults I really miss my 2000 Intrigue with the 3.5 v6.
Never will forget when I was with my instructor during driver's ed in one of these and the power steering failed. Fortunately, we were going predictably slowly, but it was still unnerving. I still like this generation of Olds; exactly the kind of nondescript prettiness that is so taken for granted these days.
They could probably do some interesting designs with the front fascia, just like how cars today have decorative headlights and the real lights hidden lower in the bumper. I feel like Oldsmobile would have a retro-futuristic vibe
I rented one of these in 2000. I really liked it and was quite impressed with the car. I would have considered buying one, but I didn't need to buy a new car at the time. I thought it was a great effort that ultimately would have saved the Oldsmobile brand if they had been around a little longer. I was sadly surprised when at the end of that year, it was announced that the Oldsmobile brand was going to be dropped by 2004. Too bad they did not come out with this prior to the Aurora - this sold in larger numbers. A LOT changed in a short period of time in the 1990s in the car industry.
if only GM gave Oldsmobile more time and money.. this was a great effort and very European/Japanese in style and features.. But the Olds ship was already sinking at this point
I can't believe they got rid of Pontiac. You still see old Pontiacs all over the road, so I can deduce that it it was one of the most durable models and besides, they could have had a new Firebird. It's all about money, GMC is just a macho name for the same products made by Chevrolet.
I had a 2002 Oldsmobile intrugue with the 3.5 v6 and the factory Bose stereo system and sun roof, I miss that car, I want another just to daily, plenty of low end power!
GM should’ve dumped Chevrolet and kept Oldsmobile. Olds always built a much nicer car. If I remember correctly I think the Intrigue was the last Olds my Grandfather ever bought. Before this he always bought 88’s. He loved his Oldsmobiles
Your crazy! Dump Chevy? You know how many trucks and suvs Chevy sales? A whole bunch!! As matter of fact it’s what they probably sell the most off….if anything they should have dumped Buick and kept Oldsmobile or Pontiac instead….
That car was the only real front wheel drive cutlass supreme, it and the Alero could have helped in Oldsmobiles future luxury cars, but GM brass wouldn't have it.
Now i really want this car, especially since the backseat is big enough for 3 adults. But I already have a car so i shouldn't. I would like to know if these cars don't rust in the salt belt because that's the only bad thing i sense from American cars (and Japanese), that i see a few with rust issues.
