Yes, I love my 5.7 D. Mine is the facelift, and I love the looks of it compared to what came after. I also like that it was a proper truck platform, unlike the Gen 3 which is not really a truck.
My grandparents bought a '04 Hemi with AWD brand new. They didn't keep it long because they ended trading their travel trailer for a fifth wheel. But, boy was that a nice truck!
As an owner of one of these rigs, i had to like :). I will say honestly 16 spark plugs and cheap suspension/steering components are kind of a negative (mpgs, not to mention 😅) to the otherwise abundance of positives, and yes the hemi is a fun engine. :)
Yes, the only thing I really hate are those ridiculous spark plugs and coils (so stupid). Put some good Bilstein or KYB shocks on it and it really changes the way the suspension feels.
Agreed. I remember when these and the new generation Dakota came out in 2005. They should’ve just refreshed the old generation and kept it going. They looked much better. This Durango especially looks big and bloated.
@@PamelaBellOfficialThe 2005 Dakota was definitely much better looking than the Durango in my opinion. I preferred the 05-07 over the 08 facelift. But yes, the 97 Dakota is also a very nice looking truck.
The 4.7 was probably worse honestly. The 3.7L rams were quicker than my 08 4.2L V6 f150 on every video ive seen. And my f150 was quicker than all 3 4.7L rams I drove. I pulled 4000lbs across the country with that f150 and it did great. Had a rating of 5500lbs. The ram had trouble moving itself, as did my ex girlfriend's 4.7L ram. I will never buy a 4.7L again.
I love how motorweek is very random with their body roll tests. I've seen some roll like crazy and they say it's light or moderate, but others that barely lean, they say it has a lot of body roll. Also they use 2 different slalom setups. If you notice, they flip flop the cones on some so their slalom in a bunch of videos have sharper turns than others. So they end up comparing body roll and how much understeer or oversteer cars have with each other, but they aren't fair comparisons since some were pushed way harder.
The 4.7L was terrible. That 235hp felt like 135hp. I've driven 3 rams with that engine in it. My ex girlfriend's 06 quad cab 4x4, my 04 reg cab shortbed 4x4, and an 07 quad cab 4x2. The 07 was a 6spd manual and honestly felt like it had the full 235hp. The other 2 were autos. I had an 08 4.2L 5spd 4x2 f150 while dating that girl. My f150 was so much quicker, and I would bet my paycheck that it would outperform the 06 and 04 rams in every way. The rams had a good 1st gear but fell off after that. But I would bet if I hooked up a 5000lb trailer to the f150, and hooked that same trailer to the 04 and 06 rams, the f150 would handle it easier. I towed about 4000lbs from PA to CO on the f150 and had very few issues keeping up with 70mph traffic, even up hills. The rams had trouble with just their own weight going up hills. I drove the 06 up a steep 70mph hill in Colorado. At the bottom we went 55 snd accelerated up. That thing topped out 2nd gear and went into 3rd, where it slowed down because 3rd was too weak. So it would go from 2nd to 3rd and back over and over. Meanwhile, the f150 could pull from 55 to 100 just using 4th. If I used 3rd at the bottom, I could literally hit 100, lt back off to 70, get to 100 again, back off to 70 again, and get back up to 100 again before cresting the hill. The f150 also got 14mpgs on that PA o CO trip pulling 4000lbs egereas the 04 ram got 12.9 on its own. I have a video on RU-vid showing m6 04 ram, 08 uplander cargo van, and 06 monte carlo going up the same hill. The ram being the 4.7L and the other 2 both being 3.9L V6s. The ram was the inly ine that downshifted, and it dropped 2 gears to hold 70mph. The other 2 didn't need to downshift. I literally think the 3.7L V6 was a better choice over the 4.7L V8 in every vehicle they offered them in.
Idk man , I have a 4.7 dodge durango, i mean the hemi durango uses the same 345 engine as the chargers but is only going 0-60 in about 8 seconds, that just means the car is to heavy. The 4.7 does its job for me , i can feel the pull from the almost 300ft torque it has , and its slow but slow like a v6 . The big up is i can have the car loaded with passengers and the car wont feel heavy.
@@JoseNunez600 yeah but if you were to race a 3.7L V6 durango, I'd almost bet you'd lose. And I would also bet that the 08 V6 f150 I had would pull 5000lbs easier than your durango would at higher speeds. Maybe not around town like 35mph or less, but at 50mph+, I bet that f150 would pull away easily wuth the same weight.
