I went car shopping with my father this past weekend, to find a Lyft/Uber car for him. We ended up getting a 2016 Sonata Sport 2.4. Certified pre-owned with 22k miles for under 15k. Seriously a bargain compared to Camry and Accord. I'm really impressed with it. Interior fit and finish is great, tons of features, and I think it looks very handsome in dark blue too.
The rear end styling of the 2018 models is really nice, but they should have left the front styling alone. However, as Alpzepta said, yes, the 2020 sonata is absolutely beautiful
my wife and I both got new sonata's. hers is a 15 and mine is a 16. we both like them and would recommend one. performance is good and so is the gas mileage. just hope they last.
Jeffery Crocker ... I'm currently looking to trade my Elantra in for a '17 Sonata. curious what kind of mpg you're getting in your Sonatas. I'll probably go with the base 2.4
Doug N I'm getting 28 to 32 mpg mixed city and highway. we both have the 2.4 in ours. we haven't had any problems with ours. even driving just around town I'm getting 26. we both got the se trim level nothing fancy.
Jeffery Crocker ...I'm looking at the base SE too. The only option I'm adding is the Homelink mirror with compass and built in garage door openers. This is big step up in size and comfort from the Elantra. I'm looking forward to having an adult size car again.
They'll last. I traded an 04 Elantra for an 09 Sonata Ltd. When it got hit on the highway (fenderbender) and totaled, I got another 09. Sold it to move and, boy, do I miss it!
We have a 2006 Hyundai sonata 4 Cyl. with just over 152,000 miles on it and we've never had engine or transmission problems. The 2006-present sonata are very reliable
@@pattreu834 Reliability has declined starting with 2011 models, sadly. Consumer Reports now rated the 2008 Sonata as the most reliable in Sonata's entire history.
I still like the 06 to 09 Sonata. The 4 cylinder with the optional 3.3 V6 was a good platform, although they don't have Honda and Toyota longevity, they can last a while and have good performance. My brothers 06 with 3.3 junked out around 260k miles and he didn't baby it.
Everybody hates the styling... I don't know why though... But of course styling is something that will remain very subjective to everyone. However, I love the new styling! It has a more masculine vibe now and I happen to love how everything is toned down a bit. The previous generation just felt like too much was going on in terms of exterior and interior. I haven't actually got see one in person, but I can't wait. I'm also waiting for the redesign of the Elantra.. I'm very curious as to how they're going to change that car up. (I currently own a 2011 Elantra).
i have read and viewed many reviews for the 2015-2017 sonata's and none regardless of power plant took more the 8.3 seconds to reach 60mph. furthermore they obviously had not tested the eco powerplant or done any research or they would have known not only do you get better fuel economy with but it is faster due to the turbo. with that engine it is on avg .2 of a second faster than the naturally aspirated 2.4L engine to 60mph. in addition you have three drive options regardless of engine choice. pressing the button to select between eco, standard and sport driving modes. unlike most i have used in other models you very much can feel the difference toggling between the selections on the hyundai. i found the sonata to be a surprisingly comfortable, quiet riding vehicle, besides being a well made automobile. IMHO much more so than for example the 2017 fusion with ford's awful cvt we tested a few months back.
surprisingly i find this new car very very impressive so much so that after owning both previous generations of mazda6 and loving the third generation i am still inclined to buy this Sonata over the new 6! its a difficult choice for me now.
I have owned a 2015 Sonata Sport with a 2.4 L GDI for 5 months now. It ran very well with 36+ MPG on the highway @ 70 MPH with plenty of power to spare in, "ECO". But I have found that parts and touch up paint are in very short supply. The Service Adviser said that it is because the car was so new. Three weeks ago (2/12/15), the car lost power (check engine light on) and was idling at 1200 RPM when warmed up. The Hyundai tech reset the check engine light and said that he could find no problem. The code was, "camshaft sensor error". But the sensor tested OK. The dealer adviser said that nationally, 3 other Sonatas have had this very same problem (source: Hyundai tech line). The problem happened again. But this time he found that the, "bushing" connected to the camshaft sensor was leaking oil internally on the camshaft sensor. They did give me a loaner car, Because they had to keep the car for a week. Because they had to wait for parts to correct this. The car now seems to run well so far. All was repaired under the Hyundai warranty. It took all day to fix once the parts arrived.
I have an 05 KIA Spectra, a rebadged Hyundai Elantra. I've put 170,000 miles on it and had it since it was 26,000. I find their cars to be incredibly durable. I've put this poor car through hell, and it's still running. Maybe you ended up with a bad model lol
My 2015 sonata has 19k miles on i bought it brand new... it shuts off on me randomly, the engine shakes and sounds like its sputtering barely staying on until it just turns off. was this similar to yours? Hyundai keeps turning me away saying nothing is wrong with the car!
Sonata Eco is much faster with better gas mileage than 2.4L Sonata tested. Autobytel timed 0-60 mph of new Eco model. It got 7.6 sec (about 1.5 sec faster to 60 mph than 2.4 L).
Hector Diaz A page with a Korean knock-off twist, no doubt, as evident by the 60's-era, one-dimensional, fake-wood decals. You just gotta love it, of course.
For all Hyundai Sonata engines, run full synthetic oil with a higher quality oil filter. Mobil 1 Extended Performance Oil can be used on the 2.4 Liter engine for those going 15,000 miles per year. For turbo engines, avoid using Mobil 1 Extended Performance oils, because the formula is not compatible with turbo engines and will cause engine damage. Use Mobil 1 with SuperSyn Technology for turbo engines. Synthetic Oils can improve engine performance and optimize fuel economy.
I really loved the last version of the Sonata but am not impressed at all with this style. Not like I will buy one anyways but I do like the new '15 Genesis sedan, they did really good with that design!
It has the longest "Power Train" warranty when comparing milage with years in the USA market (10 year's or 100 ,000 miles max limit[which ever comes first]). One of the top "bumper to bumper" warranties that can also be extended with a dealers optional "Wrap Around" warranty to the 10/100,000 mile limit of the longest warranty which is again that of the Power Train's.
Not as dramatic style wise like in the last generation, but still a value and interior very good even in the base SE. 1000 dollars less than the Accord and even the new Camry.
Genadiy Ivken ...it is ironic that the "Eco" model happens to be the quickest. So granny buys an Eco for its economy and ends up being the Little Old Lady from Pasadena....haha
That baby food carrot orange... No no! I do wish they would not have went with the square center stack either but that and the grill are exactly what Subaru just did with the Legacy.
Hyundai doesnt seem to offer the turbo in limited trim, only the sport model. That's a mistake in my book as not everyone wants a firmer riding car, especially not for a car like this.
Hyundai is now offering the 2015 Sonata Limited with the 2.0T. It still has the Sport suspension, however. The badging on the car even says "Sport 2.0T Limited".
Compared to what? You failed to mention that all of Hyundai ' s competitors, of any class, are to costing more than what they once did. So compared to the competition Hyundai is a great Value at any price.
They hired Paul schreyer who was a lead designer for audi. That does have something to do with it. He is currently their president and was chief designer for them as well.
Still a POS Engines can't take a beating nor their transmission. Always in the shop because they need that long warranty because Hyundai feels bad for building such a POS.
hnnotyy ..I've owned two Hyundais. a '13 Elantra GT I traded in at 90,000 miles and now have a '16 Elantra sedan with 35,000. I've found them to be trouble free and easy to maintain cars.
