Except when it came to reliability, I think it’s weird how Toyota didn’t make a Toyota xb when they discontinued their scion sub brand as it was still a high seller. The Nissan floors because of its odd quirky styling for the time. Most people were intrigued by the souls look and good marketing.
I drove a Honda Element for 11 years until someone ran into it & totaled it, while it was parked. So, got a Scion and feel it was perfect timing for all the right reasons. I love this car! Juliana
my lady and I both have 2009 Scion xB's- we average 27.8 MPG consistently. Her's has 164k miles and is an automatic. Mine is a manual with 103k miles. They are absolutely fantastic vehicles! Too bad Toyota stopped making them.
I just got a 2013 xB after my 2003 Camry died. I only got 306,000 miles out of that Camry. This xB may we'll be the last gasoline powered car I ever own.
Disagree....XB is the best looking out of all of them cause its open for customs. It's hard for the majority to understand the "less is more" concept in the XB. Soul just has that Fab styling that gets old after couple of years. Cube is just out there that's not even a car anymore.
Toyota brand and Camry engine saids it all. I saw another video where they said the SOUL interior is cheaply made where it can scratch easily at only 9k miles.
True The XB is the most versatile: good pickup, roomy, decent price, better styling, and most customizable. It's a car not for everyone but it's not ugly either.
I like my Nissan Cube. Its so wierd. I drove all 3. I felt the cube was the most comfortable for my 6'2 body. I also found the design just more interesting. The cube is a conversation starter that doesn't say "I bought this V-6 Camaro to pick up girls"
Love my Soul ... Ive had it 5 months , did'nt even bother to look at the others ... knew I liked it when I saw it ... knew I wanted it after I drove it .
dude the xb wins all the way because kia and nissan make shitty cars and scion (toyota) put a bulletproof engine in that better looking box. plus the xb has more horsepower than the other 2.
If I were to bu one, it would have to be the xB for me. Not only is it he best, it has the most HP, Torque, best interior, most scape, ect. But, Im not a city person, so Id have a 4Runner or Sequoia.
Zach Davis thanks so much for the comment you obviously on some toilets and know how great they are a Psion will not disappoint you it's a great vehicle I have had many of them I love them
I love the Nissan Cube, however it was never a really big seller here in the U.S. soo as of 2014 they only sell the cube in Japan. I still see some used ones out there and i want a Cube soo ill fine a good used one.
The new Soul 2012 has a 6speed, with a new set of engines 1.6 GDI(direct injection) and 2.0Nu with 160hp. I've had my Soul 2.0 for nearly 3yrs. with no problems, a very fun car.
Not exactly. Yes its the fastest but you can customize the hell out of a Cube. You can even change the colour of the plastic surrounding the air conditioning vents, and you can have mood lighting.
Chris Pisz please do not get the kids out the XB so much better less better friends gray more spaces away more versatile I'm just trying to look out for you
I got to sit in a Soul and play around with it, not drive it though. I was really impressed. Seats were comfy front and back. Tons of head and leg room front and back too. Lots of room under to hood, so easy to work on. Good size trunk with the seat up. High seating position is great for entering/exiting and visibility while driving. I may feel different about liking it if I get to drive one.
They got the "history" wrong here. In Japan the Cube and bB( the xB in the us) came out in the late 90s.After the success of the Honda Element in the US, Scion brought the bB over as one of its first offerings and refined the interior some. Nissan later brought the Cube over after the success of the first and second gen xBs. Kia as usual brought out the Soul as a "Me Too" rip off of the Honda, Toyota/Scion, and Nissan vehicles. The actual order in who came first is 1. Cube ( by a few months) 2. bB or 1st gen xB 3. Element 4.Second Gen xB 5. Soul
I've got a 2015 xb and It hits 75mph at 6500 rpm in 2nd gear exact. I've not tried 3rd or 4th. I've only got 1000 miles on it. waiting till I break it in at 5000 before I test top speed in the other gears.
The Kia Soul is only one "box car" left. The Soul will be heading to its 3rd gen (about 2020) Maybe we can get a reboot of the Honda Element, Nissan Cube and Toyota XB. they all did well the first time around.
I have the same car, It is awesome no problems at all 140 000 miles runs like new. I flush all the fluids, change all filters, changed all spark plugs and spark plug wires. Ceramic brake pads. Go to a great mechanic and have them do a 3 step fuel fuel injection cleaning service. Make sure they use BG products. It gets rid of all carbon build up The car roars now. Also use royal purple engine oil it is better then mobil 1 one oil. It drives like a race car now!!!! Also use Trico Titan wipers they work the best. ALso buy the royal purple oil filter and change serpentine belt every 80 000 miles to be safe.
Hopefully the 2012 Soul would have real world gas mileage the same as they claimed. Also it's a shame the XB will no longer be offered after 2012. The Cube is just too funky and small for me.
Would rather know RPM's at 55/65mph. It's the one reason I wouldn't buy the older model XB my friend has. I just don't like high RPM's at high speeds since a lot of my driving is highway. And cubic feet of storage is nice, but would also be nice to know about how long of an item would fit in the back, like my friend's older(different looking) XB can fit a bike if the wheel is turned to go down between the seats.
The Matrix get a longer floor length , I know cause I compare before choosing the Mat instead of Xb .My 64cm frame road bike go into the matrix without removing the front wheel . Unable to do that with the Xb
martin martin Actually my friend and I fit 2 bikes with all wheels on in his xb. Had to turn the wheel to go down between the back and front seats, but they fit. Edit:the older more box looking xb.
SCION looks boring is because u can add your own body decals and it looks grwon up of the 3. The SOUL trim u see in this video is NOT $14K. For the base model SOUL, getting a boring monotone exterior and intrerior SOUL...all the extra goint to get u up at 20K with the SOUL. CUBE is just too out there for me.
@palebeachbum , I would also have to agree that the Kia Soul Sport is the #1. It is fun, sporty looking and stylish. Great sound system and nice features.
These days, I’d rather have the Kia Soul since the Scion and Nissan are also no longer being made, the Kia Soul is way more popular. Back in 2010, I’d probably get the Scion, or maybe a Honda Element.
@coandcaiv its still faster than the soul with the 2.0 140+ hp engine lol and better mileage. imagine the soul with an automatic and 1.6L engine.. had a versa with 5 people and luggage like u couldnt believe oh and the front passenger was more than 350 pounds!!! yea it was slow but i never had problem keeping up with traffic and i even hit over 100 a few times with the ac on. not the end of the world lol...
Fast1098R I deliver new cars to dealerships on an 18wheeler car carrier trailer. we redline each car at the ports when driving to our trailers to save time while loading. cars have 1mile on odometer when we redline them. enjoy your break in process. :)
Imagine a Nissan Cube, A kia soul, and a Scion Xb right beside each other! Nissan cubes are aa piece of squirrel poop and scion xb is just weird. Kia soul is funky in the good way.
Brian C no, they only had some 08-12’s that had the consumption issues, and Toyota still offers new lifters to cure the problem for XBs 10 years old or newer if they have consumption issues. I know cab drivers with these still running excellent churning 300k or more, with no issues, or a minor repair like an alternator.
My 2005 Scion xB, which I got in 2004, is coming up on 15 years old and 192,000. It is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Lightweight, nimble and so fun to drive. Great gas mileage and tons of interior space. It is still going strong. My goal is 300,000 miles.
@pjtart Every car has a recall at some point , Toyota has had a bunch of them lately, so has Nissan and Honda. That Wire issue is a mimimal first year problem that Kia will work out. I still think Kia Soul is the best out of all of the Box cars.
The Kia Soul is the winner in my book. The XB is just plain and boring. The interior looks like the inside of a Rubbermaid bin. The Cube is freakin' hideous. I wouldn't be caught dead driving it. The Soul looks fun, sporty, and stylish. Loads of personality without being hideous. Best and most stylish interior too.
