The Izu-Tobu volcanic peninsula is an active volcanic area and is one of the 55 that are continuously monitored by JMA (Japan Meteorological Agency). Given the region is monogenetic, Omuro itself will likely not erupt again however the peninsula itself will continue.

About: Mount Ōmuro (大室山, Ōmuroyama) is a 580 m (1,900 ft)-high cinder cone volcano in the Izu-Tobu volcano field of Itō, Shizuoka, Japan. At the independent peak, the yearly mountain burning has been performed for more than 700 years is carried out in the early spring, so it is often covered with annual plants and is a symbol of Itō. Mount Omuro is located on the Northeast side of the Shizuoka peninsula.
Geological Summary: The Izu-Tobu volcano group (Higashi-Izu volcano group) is scattered over a broad, plateau-like area of more than 400 km2 on the E side of the Izu Peninsula. Construction of several stratovolcanoes continued throughout much of the Pleistocene and overlapped with growth of smaller monogenetic volcanoes beginning about 300,000 years ago. About 70 subaerial monogenetic volcanoes formed during the last 140,000 years, and chemically similar submarine cones are located offshore. These volcanoes are located on a basement of late-Tertiary volcanic rocks and related sediments and on the flanks of three Quaternary stratovolcanoes: Amagi, Tenshi, and Usami. Some eruptive vents are controlled by fissure systems trending NW-SE or NE-SW. Thirteen eruptive episodes have been documented during the past 32,000 years. Kawagodaira maar produced pyroclastic flows during the largest Holocene eruption about 3000 years ago. The latest eruption occurred in 1989, when a small submarine crater was formed NE of Ito City. AllTrails: The immediate below Alltrails route was what I was planning to take but quite literally within 5 minutes of me arriving at the lift (to the top) the weather changed and they shut the chairlift down. Given I had a few days off from my last hike, this visit to Shizuoka and Izu Volcanic Group was (in my plan) both going to mark the end of one season however where this end point would also be the continuance point for season 2.
See additional images below which was my alternate route walking from the station to Mount Omuro instead. The below was my actual route on AllTrails starting from Jogasakikaigan station all the way around Omuro. If I would have taken the bus or taxi, I also would have made it in time to ride the lift up. Tips & Advice: There is no actual alternate "hike" route up the mountain should weather turn bad meaning there is not a "hiking" route. At one time, there appears to have been one and in my fervent attempts to make it to the top, all historical paths were either overgrown, roped off, or had signs for no entry due to wildlife and habitat restoration.
