The BMW Navigator sat navs are quite pricey. If you're not worried about integration with the Wonder Wheel control on the handlebar, you can buy a Garmin Zumo XT sat nav and a 3DAM E-nax XT adapter for less and get a great result. In this video I demonstrate the product install, and take it out for a road test.

I have a pretty ancient Zumo 660 on my RT which fits the factory mount perfectly, still works fine and gets the job done. The screen could be bigger and it doesn’t interface with the wonder wheel. I’m reluctant to pay the extortionate price for the BMW unit V or VI so pleasantly surprised to see this alternative option. Great review thanks 👍

I have a Nav 6 on my RT. When it's in place, the menu button will bring up a menu called 'navigation'. You can then control the Nav 6 using the jog wheel. Not ideal, but it works ok. In nearly 3 years of ownership of the bike, I have used that functionality maybe twice. Thanks for sharing this informative video. If I were ever to get rid of the Nav 6, I'd probably replace it with an XT.

There is a locking mount from Wunderlich , that works with the central locking and blocks the release button when engaded. Perfect for short stops, overnight on a trip I still prefer to take the Nav with me.

I’m on my third Nav VI in 3 years and it started to fail again, so I got a Zumo XT with this adaptor and it’s superior in any aspect. I hardly miss any of that few additional features the VI has. Funny thing is though, since I have the Zumo, the Nav VI that I still use occasionally has never failed again. I just cannot trust it anymore so on long trips I use the Zumo

I’ve got the nav vi had it a few years on a GS. You change the setting so the wonder wheel either works with the TFT or the nav on the press of a button, it shows on the top of TFT which one you’re using. If I need to replace the nav vi I think I’d probably get the zumo xt as I never use the wonder wheel with the sat nav.

Best of all you can Bluetooth routes to the Zumo XT With the NAV 6 unless you have a laptop with you its almost impossible to edit routes

I have been looking for an adaptor like this since I moved to a 2017 R1200RT and quickly realized how few mounting options there are. The bike came with a Nav 5, and it has not stood the test of time, when it comes to functionality and performance. Thanks for making the video. Let's see if 3DAM ship to the USA.

FYI - I bought the Zumo XT2 and the adaptor is on the back of a UPS truck ('out for delivery'), 2-days after I ordered it. Amazing how UPS can ship a parcel from Italy to Austin, Texas this fast, and it takes the USPS 2-weeks to deliver a Priority Package sent from within the USA.

I just ordered the E-nav XT and on the order, chose the "Zumo XT2" versione. My question may have more to do with BMW's Connectride Cradle than their adapter, but can anyone tell me if it'll fit the 6" XT2 or only the 5.5? This is for my 2023 1250GSA. I tried asking on their portal (translated to Italian :^) but I don't think they understood the question as their response was unrelated. BMW's site says the cradle is compatible with smartphones that have a max size of 6-2/3" x 3" x 1/3" but I'm curious if anyone has actually used the 6" Zumo XT2 with it? Thanks!

I would love to know the same thing. I am wanting to purchase the XT2 and I am hoping that the 3D XT2 option will work and the XT2 fitment will be similar to the XT figment

Don’t you have to use the washer from the Garmin XT packaging in order for those four screws to fit flush on the bracket ?

Does the zumo xt work off of satellite like the Nav🥲6. If I’m riding through parts of the U.S. that has no cellular service it’s great to have the Nav 6 with satellite connection ?

Yes, it's a standard sat nav. You can connect your phone for additional info (e.g. traffic), but that's not required.
