Sir this is Gerri I hope you and your family is well. You came upon a grave and the man's first name was Rosario, so strange because my fiance's last name is Rosario. I thought at first he was Italian and he said he's half Native American and Mexican American. He's in the military Army in Iraq in the red zone. He's a Green Beret sharp shooter. I physically never met him but texted over a year. He should be coming home soon. He always sent me money which surprised me. That's why awhile back could you go to the military section of St. Joseph cemetery in Chicago, my uncle James Edward Petress is buried. Thank you sir very much. I know I call you sir and I'm alittle older than you but that's the way I was raised.

I was lucky to be able to spend time in the Tuscana, Italy. I love cemeteries, the older the better. I was able to visit one near Pisa, it was something I've only seen on TV. I expected the Godfather to step out.. just beautiful. Carmel is ornate like it but it was packed, I believe all mausoleums and graves on top. Just surreal.. and real. Thank you

There is nothing wrong with walking upon graves. Large mowers roar over top several times a year. The greater disrespect is to not visit these sites and to give remembrance of these peoples' lives. Hans.

I am handicapped and can't go visit my loved one's graves. But you know what my brother is into the genealogy and is on "Find A Grave" website and he's posted pictures of all the relatives graves so I just go in the web site and can visit the Graves and even they have it where you can place different types of flowers or notations for the Graves you visit. People on the site will go to cemeteries in their stats if you ask them and take pictures of Graves of your loved ones and send them by emails to you so you can even visit loved ones not buried in your own state. It's a wonderful network they have going and it's all free!!!

As we tour these beautiful resting places it makes me think how many really were immigrants, the hardness of relocation and survival (no federal welfare), the plight of survival for some during the great depression and how these beautiful giant sized, (undoubtedly expensive) these monuments were back then and question how did they afford these lasting memorials. Breathtaking history in my eyes. Enjoyed the stories and tours within this cemetery. Wow.

Loved the walk around looking at those beautiful tombstones. The pictures just bring more meaning to the person when looking at them. I was just wondering, how do they mow the grass there without running over the graves? How do they have funerals without stepping on graves, or use devices for digging graves without touching another grave? I have never seen any type of disrespect in your videos.👍👌😂

Yay! You made it to over 10,000 subscribers. Responding to anyone commenting that you are stepping on graves... 1. I don’t see those people out there keeping history and these peoples memory alive! 2. Not all graves are positioned where it’s easy to not step on them. Especially if they are close together. My daughters grave is positioned where it has to be stepped on by the person at her feet if that family wants to be at their loved ones grave. 3. To be able to get close ups of pictures and remember these people it is worth a possible step on the grave area. 4. If I was dead I wouldn’t mind someone stepping on my grave to read my stone and remember me.

I guess you grew up near a graveyard I think I heard you say. So did I, and I had to walk over a little walking bridge across a river and out through all the graves of my ancestors in northern Ohio when I walked to school every morning. I spent a lot of time playing in and around the river and that graveyard, hiding among the graves and such. Never did see a single spirit but it always felt peaceful there. There was a big crypt built right on the riverbank that you could go into, the stone door was open, but it was spooky and damp.

Thank you for doing this. I continue to be amazed at the beautiful works of art that adorn these Graves as markers. When did it go out of fashion to put so much effort and thought into something to mark the final resting place of your loved ones? Personally I've never had the opportunity to see markers of this stature. Here in Oklahoma, the local cemeteries usually have the plain granite or flat metal plates as markers. Probably the most elaborate markers I've seen are the 'Woodman of the world' markers. These markers that you are filming are true works of art and a mostly forgotten practice. Ron, please don't listen to the trolls and their negative comments, unfortunately RU-vid is a prime opportunity for unhappy people to try to bring others down. The rest of us are appreciative of what you are doing and we can see how respectful you are of the Graves. Please continue providing us with your videos and stories. Again, thank you.

Really enjoying this. As an aside, my mother (1908-1984) absolutely loathed grave photos; why, I don't know; she had some rather peculiar ideas. I myself find them fascinating. They prove that a person actually existed - a person who has the right to be recognized if not remembered by the living who knew them! They provide a little insight as to who that person was. I'll never understand why Mama was so against grave photos.

I know exactly where you are at. On the other side of that building in the entrance (there is sort of a hill ,that's where I usually park) where you were in the beginning of the video are some cool pictures on graves. They have some after death photos on their graves (sometimes that was the only picture that would of been ever taken of them). You can tell they are deceased and their eyes are still open . It was common back in the day to have your eyes open during the funeral/wake. I was told by a cemetery worker , in the 80's they put people who died of AIDS in that part of the cemetery because it was the older part of the cemetery and back then they weren't sure if the AIDS virus can be contracted even after the person died. So they put them there cause it's less foot traffic . I believe he is somewhat correct because the person we visit did die of AIDS in 1986. The graves all have 1986 as the death dates and their in the isle between the older graves .

Mount Carmel every week or so sounds great! BTW: Don’t do stone rubbings with paper & pencil! Extremely hard on those old, fragile stones. Look it up. Thanks for the cool videos...love them!

Right on Meredith. Also, I don't think we should be trying to make repairs. These stones and portraits are PRICELESS, it should be done by someone who is an expert...like what adhesives are flexible and not brittle. DO NOT USE LIQUID NAILS.

Very interesting urban cemetery. For a different type of historical cemetery, check out Sidestep Adventures. They do rural Georgia abandoned church and family cemeteries being swallowed up by nature. Fascinating!

Kay - I watch Sidestep Adventures as well ,, really is fascinating .. I especially like the few he has found buried so deep into the woods , that people who live close didn't even know of them .. I suppose one day we will all be forgotten ,,, That's OK , the Lord remembers who and where we are .. Have a wonderful day Miss Kay !

Stepping on a grave is not being disrespectful if anyone is respectful its you I kneel on my mother's grave in front of her headstone the disrespect comes from the vandalism and litter people throw down on the ground stealing flowers off people's graves Someone stole flowers from my mother's grave that is disrespectful and wrong you keep doing what you are doing you are keeping these people's memories alive God bless you 🙏
