People are people anywhere. Nation states are social constructs that keeps us apart, same as language and cultural differences. Once you truly understand this you will realize people don't need ambassadors, especially not from fascistoid dictatorships. I get what you mean though. Many people have prejudices for political reasons.
Wow, amazing trip, a window on hiking and leisure activites in Russia. Fantastic window on Russian's working as a group in leisure activites. Thank you for sharing Russia beyond Red Square, Tolstoi, and the Bolshoi. Can not wait to see what is next.
This is your best vlog by far a true TV documentary material. You spoke like a true mountain climber with wiseness and cautiousness. Most mountain climbers champions will tell you this never try to be reckless. Hats off also to The Climbing Brothers guides they took the right decision and I look forward using their services in a near future. Bravo and thank you.
Congrats ,🎉 I did Elbrus last year and will be in my my for ever. Many don’t even know that the highest mountain in Europe is actually based in Russia 🇷🇺
@@giuseppecento main ridge of the Caucasus is the border between Europe and Asia. South of the main ridge is Asia, but Elbrus is north of the main ridge and in Europe
I summited 1999 and again in 2002 was there. Absolutely fabulous area. Inspired me to start night school to start learning Russian, however work pressures meant only done half the lessons. Thanks for sharing your video. Sorry you did not get all the way to the summit. However it was still one of life's experiences to treasure.
So interesting, I wish I could speak Russian, I live in Alaska, there is some Russia people here but they keep to themselves, I don’t know, one of the best books I ever read was about a guy named Ed Vistures. He climbed the worlds 14 tallest mountains becoming only the 6th person to do so, this was in the nineties. It’s always interesting to see another persons view of things from somewhere else in the world. I hope I get to travel in Russia someday Eli. This is a good video. I was recommended to it from another channel, I hope you get success on RU-vid. You do speak good English, I almost can’t speak myself some days and I was born in it. So. Thank you.
A fantastic video Eli. My trip to Russia from the UK to climb Elbrus has been covid cancelled twice. Your video makes me look forward to the day I arrive in Russia and on Mount Elbrus even more. Bad luck with the weather!
Hi Eli, thanks. I have been watching all of your videos unexceptionally from the very first post of your video. This year, I am coming to Russia to Carry on my study. Your videos have helped me a lot in understanding the circumstances, culture, language, food, tradition, believe, and much more. I love you so much Eli ❤️
Wow, I feel embarrassed that I honestly didn't know of Mt. Elbrus! It looks so inspiring. I can imagine it is frustrating if you were looking forward to something and preparing so much and then, when you are almost on the finish line, it doesn't happen. In Austria a bad incident happened where a group travelled there to climb a famous montain, and on the morning of the ascent they met another group that had a guide and he said: we are going back down, don't go today, the weather is going to turn sour. They thought the sky didn't look that bad and that they would notice early enough if something changed and just go back, so they proceeded, but the guide who said it was a local and they were tourists, misjudging how quick the weather can go in the mountains. None of them came back, they were all struck by lightning. Such accidents happen very frequently. Also a group of 10 people went on a hike during summer and got caught up in an icestorm higher up. None of them had brought alpine equipment for this day, they were just thinking day trip in summer, they all froze to death. Usually, people who are not from an area should listen to whatever the locals recommend and treat any mountain with respect, even if it is not a 4000 or 5000 metre high one.
Wow, such a beautifully done video! It reminded me of my mountaineering trips to south America a few years ago, I kinda miss the harsh mountain life now (although I was staying in a tent eheh)! Too bad you got bad weather, the mountain is always the one deciding if you can climb it or not, and at least the whole team made the good call! Also I didn't know mountains in the caucasus were so high and beautiful, I hope to go there one day now!
Wao! Eli I never know that you are a climber too. It's really loving activity to climb a peak in any part of the world, especially in Russia. I am an adventure enthusiast and living in the confluence of the world great mountain ranges and the most dominant peak here is Nanga Parbat. I would like you to invite my region for such a small adventures activity, in the Himalayas, where you will meet more diverse people from all over the world and will enjoy your trip to the North of Pakistan. Please comment or inbox, if you are interested in the said adventure trip to the Himalayas or the Karakuram . Once again thank you for your lovely videos of Russia, which was one no go are or even unthinkable are for us, now thanks to the government of Pakistan which makes it thinkable to visit Russia for such adventures activity. Keep exploring and sharing your lovely videos of the world!
It is wonderful. I have been to the Caucuses on the Georgian side (Kazbeg) but I am too old now to take on something like Elbrus. I did climb Kilimanjaro 10 years ago, so I could feel your pain.
Thank you Eli for the fantastic insight on climbing Elbrus via two routes (the one in this video, from the South, and the North one in another video). I am also climbing and enjoying the mountaineering experience, vicariously, with you! :) Thanks for all the videos on the different regions of Russia! Regards from Canada!
Those are some absolutely incredible views! This was such a wonderful video. Regardless of the fact that you didn't make it to the peak this time, you still got to experience the mountain and share some views of a lifetime. What you said at the end rings very true-- life is not about the end destinations, but rather enjoying the journey and the *process*.
Wow ,your a amazing young lady. Love the Historic content , cultural, adventure sides of your homeland. Love your pride of where u come from and sharing it .
Amazing videos. You are just so wonderful and you gave me so much information and inspired me at the same time. Thank you very much. God bless, safe adventures and
AbFab, Eli! You are a champion. Thank you for sharing this grand adventure with us. And I loved your philosophical perspectives on life as a journey; not merely a destination.
This is just an awesome adventure. Very informative video. When you have children I am sure they will never be bored. Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe. Thank you for sharing your time with us today from Henrico County Virginia
Eli,this is the most amazing YT video that I have ever seen! Your perseverance to do this is really impressive! For a group of newbie climbers this is a lifetime achievement to be proud of and a keepsake for the rest of your lives. I salute you courageous people ! I think that you can accomplish any challenge Eli !
Well done! Very nice clip! I appreciate your effort to make this video. You have convinced me to go to Elbrus in the future. Very nice final idea: Enjoy the trip and the process, it's more important then the final destination. - I went to Jungfraujoch at 3.571 m. I've met a girl from New York in the top of the mountains and spent together some very memorable moments in the Alps. An experience I will never forget.
Beautiful!! The tallest mountain in Europe. A friend of mine from Fulton, NY was supposed to be there now climbing it but with everything going on he had to cancel his trip.
The greatest skill anybody learns when climbing mountains is when to turn back, the mountain will still be there next time, the weather wont. A stunning video.
I'm from Susa Valley, Turin, Italy, a valley surrounded by the Alps, the highest mountains of western Europe. We love walking in mountanous tracks, but we have never reached such high tops. The maximum height I reached is 3000 m above s.l. on the Rocciamelone mountain. Your video is wonderful. Thanks a lot
Eli: this was such an excellent video on many levels, some of which you touched upon in your final thoughts. Congratulations! In my view, you made it to the summit after all making a five star video.
Yo Eli, You are my Newest Superhero. Thank you for sharing your Amazing Adventure. Yeah Russia Hooked me up with your channel. Looking forward to more of your videos. Hello from mid Michigan USA.
That was such an inspiring video. The feeling of connection with nature, people and even your own body must really be something. I am really considering climbing mount Elbrus too now. Thanks for the effort you put in this video!
So sorry to know you did not reach the peak, but going down in that situation was the best decision. The most important thing is that you went back safe. Just wait for another trial. Hopefully, you can still keep your spirit for Elbrus.
Mount Elbrus is beautiful mountain, lovely nature and peace environment. People in the village of Terskol also very friendly and nice people, its against the streotype about Russian I know from media. I am blessed that I went to mountain, did aclimatization to observatory and Pastukhov and experience delay in summit due to stormy weather..Elbrus is not an easy mountain to climb , the biggest handicap is the rapid changing n unpredictable weather ...love Elbrus, love Caucasian , love Russia...excellent documentary Eli🤩❤
Beautiful video, Eli! You certainly are brave and adventuresome as well as talented. You had more work to do than the others, because you had to take your camera and constantly think about how to set up your perspectives and position the camera to get all those magnificent views and hiking shots. Your editing was superb. I am so impressed! And you are so right that, "Life is about small steps."
I thought your best video I had seen was the "Ice Skating on Baikal, but this was even better, beautiful photographed and commentary, you area start x ,
😘💪🏼👏🏻👏🏻 Beautiful life experience. Inspirational, indeed. Eli, incredibly exciting video of an adventure that not everyone can, will experience in real life, but only on video like yours. Well done to you and your friends. Be proud. 🤝👏👏💪😚💪💐🌹🇷🇺
This is your best video so far. (Okay I haven't seen them all, but this is best I've seen.)) I'd say they are "trekking poles"; there are also "hiking sticks" or "walking sticks", or less common, a "hiking staff" (think Gandalf). ("Walking stick" might also be the "cane" used by the elderly.)
