Went to base camp about a year ago. It takes about a week and 70kms just to reach the start of this video. At that point your buggered and all you want to do is stop every few minutes and catch your breath. Anyone who climbs Everest is a gangster.

The people that did this back in the day without the benefit of all of today's technology and groundwork laid by past climbers are truly amazing and/or nuts.

This was the most difficult climb I have ever made just sitting here on my couch. I even got a little chilly.

Just incredible. I watch every video that I can find on Everest for a couple of years now even though I would never intend to climb it myself. I’m amazed by the people who decide to.

I can't imagine how maddening it must be to stand on snow in an ice valley and feel the sun beating down on you over 100⁰F

This music in the video is played on a loop through everests PA, which consists of speakers placed randomly throughout the climb. Apparently it really gets you in the mood.

*Well that was an easy climb. Dunno what all the fuss is about, only took me 5 mins.*

Amazing. What boggles my mind is the first who climbed this had no experience and no modern gear to achieve their dream of reaching the summit. Just amazing.

The music is in tune with the greatness and beauty of the mountain, but also the weight and sometimes the horror on the way to the summit.

My opinion is that too many people that climb these mountains don’t deserve it.This should be more like a life time achievement.You start with smaller mountains and gradually make your way up to Everest and K2You shouldn’t be able to just climbed,you should earn it!

Great video! A nice addition would be to have the altitude displayed constantly as we move along the trail

A suggestion: Put an incline graphic so people know just how steep the ascent is at each leg. It's not like walking up a gentle hillside.

Two things I want to comment on, first climbing Everest is as much about the climber conquering his/her own fears, it is not the most difficult climb but it is treacherous as the many deaths have signalled, secondly, their is something about the majesty of this mountain and the huge effort required to complete a successful climb, going to the moon is a team effort as is climbing this or any serious mountain, we can rejoice in the fact that the climbers who master themselves as well as the climb carry all of us with them, i can truly be grateful that I will never see this mountain never mind attempt to conquer it but I know that I will always admire the men and women who struggle to do the almost impossible and live to tell the tale, nothing better than a climbers story, thanks for all the effort, I for one appreciate the sacrifices you all make to achieve your dream, thank you.

Stunning visualization. Reinhold Messner did the whole journey - base camp to summit and back - solo, without bottled oxygen, in 4 days (3 up and 1 down) ... the Usain Bolt of mountaineering: two wonderful freaks of nature whose accomplishments are beyond the comprehension of most and attainable by no others.

If there's ever a place where you want to become a permanent piece of the landscape, this is that place. I will stay home where there's way less chance of freezing to death thank you.

This was such an eye opening video into how trying an everest expedition truly is. People who attempt things like this amaze me.

Looks like an incredible adventure. Even on sea level, the amount of walking up and down those icy surfaces would be a challenge, but on those altitudes, it must be nearly impossible. But the scenery looks awesome.

Whoever made this video next time if you're going to put words to describe what's going on leave the words up there long enough for people to read...also, if the majority of the background is white dont use white lettering

The text in the video should have been in a darker colour to contrast with the white background, thereby making it easier to read. Also just a touch slower to admire the beauty of Everest.

Tbh it's a great place to go sledging. It's a bit of a climb, but once you get to the top, the ride back down is really worth it!👍

The top most climb near the summit looks most difficult due to it's structure, height and the harsh atmosphere... The animation was realistic and detailed... Now I understood why it takes months to complete the climb.

Thanks for the vid, it helped me a lot to know about the route before watching the Movie "Everest". The only thing I wonder is: Reading Messners report from 1978 (not the solo one, which he did from Northridge), he mentions a camp V on this route (on 8200 m). But all "modern" sources just list 4 camps on way. Has a 5th camp become obsolete on this route (with still 900m !!! left for summit "attack") over the years?

The one problem with videos like this is that it is hard to tell just how large/tall the parts of the mountain are since there is nothing to base estimates off of.

Amazing and terrifying all at once! What people sometimes forget is that just getting to base camp is a trek on its own, you can't just Uber there and hit the trail to the summit the day after! Great graphics...

I've often wondered if it was a "technical" climb at any point. Turns out it's an extremely arduous trek at high altitude that's fraught with crevasses and other perils. This is close enough, thank you!

My opinion is this Since there are currently so many people climbing,and dying,on Everest,the cost needs to be increased.Since the local people and sherpers risk their lives to climb,they need to get paid more for each climber and climb attempt.Really talented climbers who don't have the money.
