My favourite circuit in the entire world. It's on my bucket list to visit! I'd love to sit at the top of Forest's Elbow and see the V8s race past and down the hill at 200mph.
One of my favourite stories about the mountain is the first time Alan Moffitt went there so he's standing at the top at skyline with another driver on the road looking at the magnificent view and he says to the Aussie this is a great lookout but where's the track I can't see it Aussie casualie looks at him and says your standing on it pal Moffits turns gray and spultters get fucked !!!.
They used to race motor cycles around this track every Easter They used to have an average of 1 FATAL crash per year In a car this track is scary good...on a motorcycle ....BLOODY INSANE!!
The good old days thousands would go for the riot and punch on with cops rolling battles on the mountain crowd charging the police compound under cover of darkness and burning cop cars crowd had turned the shithouse into a fort both sides armed up hand to hand combat firemen in it as well dozens of ambos coming and going Are yer there was a bike race too apparently.
Yep, those were the days. Before The Chase was added the bikes would be on the back wheel over the final hump of Conrod Straight at close to 300kph. Not for the faint hearted. From age 10 my dad took me to every Easter Australian GP there from 1970 until it stopped. Just great, great memories.
The margin for error is SMALL....if a driver makes an error it is quite often the LAST error of his race. It is a scary prospect as the walls are VERY close together. The driving line for optimum speed is TIGHT! I have only ever driven the track in its public road state...but I have NO idea how they do 172kmph average...because the cameras do NOT really do the elevation changes on the course and through corners any justice!!
@TheRenegaderacer I love laguna seca, it's one of the best tracks on earth, but I think bathurst is australia's nurburgring, it's so good, it can only be compared to only track better than it and everything else, the ring. especially with the complex, tight and wild turns, it does remind you a lot of nurburgring
No one can fuck with me on MOUNT PANORAMA on real racing 3, i'm literally a fucking beast on that track, UNBEATABLE! I win the race by like fucking 5000+ yards.
@minjo79 cheers, I meant as in that intro when they were comparing V8 drivers to other athletes, would love to know if you have it, and if you do, could you upload it?
This quite frankly is the GREATEST 6.213km of race track in the world. It is NOT a Formula 1 ....never was never will be and anyone who says different knows SFA about motor racing. It is the most testing road track in the world They do this track under race conditions in 2 mins 11 seconds That is that is an average of just over 172 kmph So in the 6.213km the cars climb to the top of the Mt. Approx 300m....go across Skyline .then down through the "S's"..thru the cutting and down the Mountain.
Paul EJ sorry to burst ur bubble mate but in 2011 Jenson Button set the fastest lap time ever for this circuit in his Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes F1 car.
Yes, but that is just one F1 car in a promotional even. SO that lap record don't count. What about a full F1 field under proper race condition's? Would they have a race here then? No.
I'm praying this track gets added to GT5, and macau. If anybody doesn't know this track and macau, you need to learn, seriously, check them both out, 2 of the greatest tracks on earth
@18PacWest I know people love spa but it's completely overrated, bathurst is twice the track that Spa is, bathurst is the greatest track in the world other than the obvious king of all tracks, the nurburgring
