This video features four pacific northwest scientists who present a review of Cascadia Region tectonics, volcanoes, volcanic hazards, and a summary of how the science and monitoring has evolved over the last 40 years. It also features a first person account of the buildup to the May 18, 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens as experienced by University of Washington seismologist Steve Malone.
Hosted by the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, moderated by PNSN director Harold Tobin, with presenters Dr. Jackie Caplan-Auerbach from Western Washington University, Dr. Josef Dufek from University of Oregon, Dr. Steve Malone from University of Washington, and Dr. Seth Moran from Cascades Volcano Observatory.
Join us on directly after the youtube premiere (5/18/2020 at 8PM PDT) on Facebook for a live Q&A with our presenters, moderated by Harold Tobin.
