In the fall, I'm running a fasted 5x5: five road marathons in five days while water-only fasting. Would you recommend using the R1 for all five marathons? Or would you recommend rotating the R1 with another shoe every other day to allow the R1 midsole to relax? Thank you.

Be good to compare notes on the R1 and S1 as hopefully they are sending me them for a look as well. I think my main observation is that you seem to be suggesting the "racing" R1 is really a good "daily trainer" which is what I thought the S1 one is really meant to be. This would have been a tricky classification of Like/Neutral/Dislike for my latest vid. I think I might put Neutral in terms of what it is sort of intended for against what you found but maybe a Like if you just received the shoe with no guidance as to what it is actually intended for. The concept of a road ultra "race" shoe is quite varied. Basically anything from a 50K to things like JOGLE. For the best runners a 50K road race is basically an all out marathon but just holding back very slightly. Of course even ultra racers would rarely go past a marathon in training so these shoes have to also "work" for your standard say 10K easyish runs etc etc as well as race pace work.
