Depart from Matsumoto to Kamikochi
There are two ways to get from Matsumoto to Kamikochi - either by train to Nieshimajima Station and then transfer to a bus, or by direct bus from Matsumoto Bus Terminal to Kamikochi.

🚊 Matsumoto Electric Railway
Take Kamikochi Prefecture (also known as Matsumoto Electric Railway) from JR Matsumoto Station Platform 7 for a 30-minute ride and get off at the last stop, Nieshimimajima Station. It should be noted that although this train departs from JR Matsumoto Station, the train company operating is not JR but ALPICO GROUP, so you cannot use the Japan Rail Pass to use these trains.
From Nieshimimajima Station, it takes about one hour by bus to Kamikochi
