Love the point about the vision and psychology of looking past the top. Gotta give that a conscience try the next time I'm out

Sweet. That move on Teacup is very similar to some moves on the last mile of Porc Rim. I love Sedona (sans traffic and helicopters), especially this time of the year.

I really like it when you break it down like this. Teaching technique is my favorite part of your videos and most useful to me. Thanks for your time and effort to do this!

All excellent info! I love how you basically hopped up that one section. You completely unweighted your bike and made going up those rocks effortless. The key to doing this stuff is taking your time and recovering when you can while on a ride so you have the energy to get up this stuff.

It's hard to see from the video how steep that long roll is on Jordan, but when you are there, it seems like it is almost vertical. Thanks for breaking it down Jeff. I looked at it the other day and thought that the bottom transition would throw me over the bars seeing someone do it with such confidence, I might give it a try next time I'm there. I did the smaller roll to the left, and once I did it, I wondered why I was even worried about it.

Super fun riding with you in Sedona last week, really learned a lot about the rollers on Jordan and how to start practicing a punch. Great video Jeff!

Nice vid, good tips. And I don't know if it was intentional or not, but I got some real strong Son Volt _Straightways_ era vibes from the music. So even more the better 👍.

Jeff's preferred line at the intersection of Thunder Mountain and Teacup appears to be a new ramp to accommodate the majority of riders who could not get up that "staircase" without it. It is indeed a tough spot and usually took me more than one try, so I'm looking forward to trying that "newish" line. I'm glad Jeff recommended against the "cheater" line to the left, since it widens the trail, and there's already a bypass about 50 feet to the right that most riders use. I'll be there next week! Thanks for the timely video, Jeff!
@JeffLenoskyTrailBoss
@JeffLenoskyTrailBoss 2 года назад
If you’re familiar with rust area try using that technique on the left side of the original staircase. There’s some lines up there that work awesome using that technique
@willbros1499
@willbros1499 2 года назад
I agree. Those looked like strategically placed "cheater" rocks to create an artificial place to make the climb easier, because all of the others were embedded. That really bugs me when I see those on our trails, because we're trained to pick the smoothest line, which to me is always going to be the "staircase" looking line, because square edges are almost always harder to navigate when they are awkwardly spaced (ash he outlined on the next one). I realize Jeff could go up that on the absolute hardest spot like it was nothing, but I just don't care for "dumbing down" the trails, and to your point, that is precisely what that appeared to be. I know...I know...."It's just one line." But what if people did it on every difficult feature, and you were stopping to remove the placed rocks every 100 feet. The trails and features are rated for a reason.
