Nice review. I always thought it kind of smelled like Christmas trees out there. Some of the best xc riding in Florida. Loaded with deer. This is one of the few Florida MTB trails that one can find themselves fairly far away from their car.
You're right about checking your map often the first time you go somewhere. My dumbass got all turned around on my way out my first time at Balm, it was not a fun experience! Those "hills" look refreshing for this landscape!
The shed is a remnant of the tung oil industry that existed from the 20's to the 40's in San Felasco - thus the name Tung Nut Loop. The tung nuts were harvested then sorted at that shed - and then taken to a processing plant in town where they were crushed. (The plant burned down in the 40's.) I think tung oil is the best for preserving wood. i still use it on my furniture to this day.
I always wanted to go to the Philippines. Had a good friend a while back who was from there. With his friends and family I was called the adopted Pinoy. Called his mom Ni. Lol
