Freezing the fruit definitely helps by breaking down the cell walls. Adding boiling water after thawing into the mash definitely helps extract flavor. Great video.

I hate too tell you brother but you don't put grain. In mountain brandy old time brandy is just apple's water and yeast thats it my family has made it for 3 hundred years

@@unsane78 No man thank you, I have been thinking I'm doing something rong adding fruit to my grain mashes ....glad to know I'm not completely nuts . I figured a good mountain Brandy would be just as good as a good corn whiskey or bourbon mixed with Coke

@@unsane78 awesome timing , apple and corn was definitely want I was thinking of for next season too .... there's not really anyone around me doing hobby distilling other than a few gangsters that are doing horrible sugar shines to sell to people,I'm incredibly grateful for the time all you guys have taken to school me up ,it's awesome having so many awesome guys to learn from
