That's just a young and inexperienced bear. Probably his first year away from his mother and still learning where to go for food and how to get it. He doesn't look injured or sick, just underweight. Not uncommon when cubs leave the mothers and go out on their own. They struggle with taking care of themselves for the first year....much like people.
Like most animals (humans included), bear are opportunistic feeders. So it pressed the situation to see if an opportunity was there or one would develop. It came to the conclusion that it was too risky to continue the pursuit. About the only chance for that meal was to wait and hope that the goats had no other exit. I imagine the nanny would have risked another exit though. She knew she was in a relatively safe place and probably had more patience than the bear. having tried mtn goat myself, I assume the bear had never tasted mtn goat before or it wouldn't have wasted it's time in the first place.
We don't give animals enough credit. The bear is clearly aware of the falling hazard, and the goat nanny is aware that bears can be driven off by loud sounds. The nanny is not trying to break the rock, it's making a ruckus to scare off the bear.
It's stomping to entice the bear to come closer ... and then fall and die, leaving the goat and her baby to carry on safely knowing the threat is dead.
Really?, I give the animals credit. Humans will be a thin layer in the fossil record while rats, crocs and cockroaches will flourish until the sun quits fusing hydrogen into helium
My experience with goats is they don’t put there selves in a position to often that can’t escape from . To me it looked like they were ready to go but the Nanny was stomping her foot to scare the bear . If you have ever spent any time with them you would be amazed where they can go even the young ones . Thanks for the video
It wasn't scaring the bear, it was taunting it so it would make a mistake and fall off the cliff. If the bear was a human, it would've realized it could push debris downhill to offset the goats.
@@f.foster2099 Thank you for the comments, usually my understanding is according to some of the forest rangers, the stomping not only for the warning, the vibration bring lot of goats to the sight, so most of the time even if it is a mountain lion or cougar retreat and hide from especially billy goats(male mountain goat)! Because they are pretty dangerous when they try to protect the kids(baby goats)! Believe it or not the horns or small rack is like a blade, it is very very sharp, they can rotate and heavily damage the opponent with 180 to 200 degree rotating power of there head. They are cliffhangers, so they can target and attack viciously any of those mammals or big birds like eagles with extraordinary balancing and controlling skills. Sometimes on those battles they end up with a bad fall too, but it is very rare.
@@f.foster2099 I saw this exact video only the full episode, the Bear falls off the cliff and died , Don't know why they edit this part. G Rated I Guess.
How sweet, she's protecting her offspring even positioning him/her on the inside of the cliff! and, putting out warnings to the bear she won't be any easy target by stomping her feet!
Thank you so much, me my wife and our 3 year old son watching this beautiful event, I was out of our truck and try make to little closer view, but my wife got very scared, when the bear try to charge down the cliff to get the goat. So she started to call me in. Because always the law in National parks or Sanctuaries when you see any wildlife you cannot get off the car or try move closer to them. Thank you for your comment, next time we will give you more footages.

@علي نوح is a great resource. it was very useful. you are a good writer and a little ❤ 💙 I have no clue 😉 what is a great time for the most popular and what do we have in common. if I don't have it then 🤷 will be in charge for a while, the guy who provides the most powerful, and I am sure
@frank time you are correct...it would not have been supper at all. The bear would have missed its marked and slip clear off the side of the mountain.
@Me Smith Never said being pretty sure makes it illegal thats why I said it like that I wasn't sure. And it doesn't make sense that they would sell tags if a lot of goats are not full grown yet
@Me Smith I actually have a hunters license but I can't really go hunting until I turn 18. And as for your question about my political views I have some left views and some right views

My reaction as well 1:23 "Look at that" Goat is smart for staying there foreals haha. I like that is stomping its feet too haha. The goat is like, whatsup you know you cant touch this
Get of your couch and go into the wild and try and climb down that slope to get a sandwich. The bear was smart enough to know the slope was too dangerous to attempt for a Grizzly or anything other than a Mountain Goat. @@erickjanich6800
Why on earth have nearly a quarter of the people who've seen this disliked? Do they hate the bear for being a bear and wanting to eat or the person who posted it for filming nature? Weird world we live in...
Why concern yourself with why other people click a certain button? Why are you trying to account for all of humanity? Just live your life. That's complicated enough.
Easy answer Blind Tube Mare! Because so much of the ever increasing population have no idea about the wild. Rather their idea is via Disney and groups humanizing wild animals to gain profit via donations. Look at our TV commercials....grizzly bears now live in condos, and talk about which toilet paper they're going to use! So many have no idea, and really would not like to see what that grizzly would do to that nanny or kid!! Most can't handle the reality and brutality of the wild. Alot of groups soliciting donations to protect grizzly bears don't use videos of boars ripping apart cubs!! People can't handle the truth!!
Such drama. The suspense. Fates in balance. Cue Soap Opera organ music. We got ourselves a real cliffhanger. Tune in next time and see the un-bearable decision on the next episode of: As The Goat Horns
Cracking footage. Hungry bear, and a mama goat who was simply daring the bear to take that fateful step she knew would kill him. Shame the footage cut off.
I know about the circle of life and everything has to eat, and that bear looked like it was literally starving but damn that little goat was sooo scared...I wonder how this whole thing turned out, if the bear actually left for good or waited around for the goats... in which case, I guess I really don't want to know.

What is interesting about this video is that we see the bear making a conscious decision, not to proceed based on a judgement call.which required analysis of the situation. THis shows a level of animal intelligence that goes way beyond mere instinct. I often think draft animals like horse, cattle, oxen, etc.work for humans because they can make these intellectual decisions, decisions based on judgement.
While yes that is true, lots of mammals are capable of this accomplishment. You smoking weed and watching RU-vid videos? Kinda believe you are, with how much detail you went into over something so obvious.
@@MrBillFold What is worth commenting on is people can watch the animal make those conscious decisions as they unfold in real time; from watching animals, we don't often get to see this but only have a sense of their intellect as opposed to an animal's "instinct." A whole science is devoted to animal intellect that posits the "obvious".
I want "part 2." That clip ended too early. I want to see the goats, especially the baby goat, walk back up from that "death" cliff; yet, even that bear was doing much better on that cliff than any human would do without the right cliff-climbing equipment.

Goat stampin it's foot like "Get down here loser!" Jokes aside though that bear is definitely doesn't look well fed, and the fact that it's even thinking of going after that goat when it's at a very huge disadvantage just proves the point further.
I think it's a young bear that has recently separated from its mother and is still learning how to take care of itself independently. It's not uncommon for them to struggle a little bit in the first year away from the mother. The bear looks young. He doesn't look injured or incapacitated in any way, which would be the only reason he'd be thin if he was an adult bear. He's probably just inexperienced in finding the best feeding grounds.
I thought so too, but then realized it's spring - they come out of hibernation skinny. Combine that with what others have said about it's being young and inexperienced. . .
I remember years ago listening to a radio gardening show, and the host (Bruce Asakawa) was talking about a trip he took to South America and his walk through a thick jungle. I was expecting him to explain how, when left to themselves, the wild plants flourished in lush abundance. Instead he said that he was surprised to see that every single plant (and sometimes every single leaf!) had bites and nibbles taken from it, or other kinds of damage, from all the plant-eating insects & animals that lived there. Nature can be very tough...
That bear looked pretty skinny. He/she will probably wait them out, somewhere. That mamma sure was putting her foot down...."come and get us, if you dare". That sure is one baaaaa'd ass mamma. You go, girl!! Show that bear some mean foot stomping! That'll show him....or the steep mountain side will.
It is a warning and in the same time the vibration of stomping bring heard of goats to the rescue, because there is almost 40-50 goats came out from no where. This is another reason for 2 years old grizzly retaliate from the sight.
