Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team in action on Snowdon in winter conditions on 21st March 2013. www.llanberismountainrescue.co...
We have posted this video to make people aware of the significant amount of snow on the mountains this Easter in Snowdonia and to point out the dangers of descending the railway instead of the Llanberis Path in winter. We have not published it to criticise the people we have rescued - as team members we are all climbers and mountaineers and enjoy the mountains ourselves. We are happy to help fellow mountaineers when they over stretch themselves in their adventures or are simply unlucky but we also try and educate to prevent people having an unnecessary epic! Thats the purpose of this video so please share and spread the word - by getting into the mainstream media we are more likely to reach the people that would not otherwise appreciate the hazards of winter.

What a fantastic job you guys do, it does frustrate me when you bump into people ill prepared on mountains, when will they learn! Wink

I was there on 16th March during the blizzard. I saw people on the Pyg trail having to come back down. I reached the top but it was one of toughest ascents I've ever done! The MRT are awesome guys: massive respect. People don't realise that the weather on this mountain can change in a heartbeat and you can wind up dead or badly injured. It's unbelievable that these people are volunteers and put there own lives at risk. I'm afraid I'm not that brave...

I was in a group of 4 nearby when the helicopter landed, it was extreme conditions but enjoyable. I had a good read of the website before going, loads of info. Thanks for your advice LMR, it kept us all safe.

Rob, perfectly timed advice just before Easter. The hills are in full WINTER conditions and need to be left to those with the skills and equipment to tackle them. A great day out if you have the experience, skills and equipment, or it could be your LAST day out if you don't. Don't become a statistic.

Never needed these guys thank god but nice to know they where there if needed, I only had one accident whilst desending Elidir Fawr and hobbled back to Llamberis with a twisted ankle.

Mike Fuller That mountain is cool to climb up on summer as it has a railway going up it and a climbing path up it. Just don't go up on it on winter

@@thwalesproductions that’s not entirely true is it ,it can be dangerous most times ,depends on the peps going up and what gear there wearing and the weather can change very quick up there not just in the winter
