Mountain Slidewinder Front Seat on-ride widescreen POV Dollywood 

RIP Slidewinder, one of the best rides in the park.

This thing is a blast! Well worth the hike to get to the entrance, and the most underrated ride at Dollywood, IMHO

So nostalgic. I used to ride this 10 times in a row.

I’ve been to Dollywood at least 12 times, and this was always my favorite ride. Just out of the way enough to where it was overlooked by most, so you could run through the ride again and again without long lines. Just enough water. Just enough speed. Just enough turns. Through all the treetops. It was perfect. This hurts my soul to see it go.

Are you guys kidding me?! This ride is amazing! Don't talk crap about it until you have actually been on it.

By far my favorite ride at Dollywood and has been for as long as I can remember. Sometime back when I was in high school 4-5 of us got on this thing and decided to keep our heads tucked and all lean with the corners. Ive never in my life seen something fly that fast. We left the same time as the raft beside us and beat it by about 5 seconds.

Silver Dollar City used to have something just like this but instead of being on a hillside they built a tower for it. For some reason they closed it a number of years ago. I don't know why they would, it was a very popular attraction in the park. It was a ride that you had to get to right when the rope dropped otherwise the line would be about forty-five minutes long.

This ride is AWSOME.. LOVE IT.. WORTH THE LONG LONG WAIT

Yes! This ride is still at Dollywood. Rode it yesterday. For those of you that say it is not on the map...it is probably because Dollywood closes the water rides when it gets too cold and they do not put water rides on the "Christmas in the Smokies" map.

FINALLY! I've been looking into doing a pov for that ride, but I never went to Dollywood and probably wont for a while. This is great!

If u put too much weight, it almost tips over so take caution.

It was intense for me but I loved it at the end.

I just went there this past weekend and it's no longer on Dollywood's map.

Longest line ever. Probably the first ride I had to walk the entire length of the track to ride it.

I work on this ride this summer. It is one of the oldest and most fun in the park. okay, that last part is just my personal opinion.

It is still there. Timber Tower isn't. It was always being worked on because of the safety harnesses so the eliminated it all together.

My friend Diana worked that ride as well, told me quite a few stories. Some similar to yours!

Man, this crazy awesome ride is faster and scarier when I first went on this thing a year ago! The last couple of turns I thought I was gonna fall outta my seat cause there is nothing to hold you in! But, you have a loooooooong walk up hill to be able to ride down hill!

It's been years since I've been on that ride, but I always remembered that drop being higher than that.

Cool I always found this ride intersting. And it sounded like Dolly herself was riding XD

It seems like there are more of those sandpaper things on the slide so you don't go as fast an as high on the turns there were maybe two or three sheets of it when I went on it in summer 08. Oh well it is still my favorite ride there I rode it 7 times in a row!

How could you? You guys had videos from Dollywood back in 2009 through 2010 and you got rid of most of them. And you guys have done the same thing with other parks like Kings Island, Kings Dominion, and Canada's Wonderland among other parks. And I liked those videos even more than your newest ones. Why are you doing this.

This ride is in the actual theme park. Seems like someone else helped you on everything else. I would also recommend you go on something like Priceline and check for cheap rooms near Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. You may have to drive a little while to get to Dollywood, but it's much better than spending a lot more money at a hotel that's closer.

That could have been the best water slide ever if there were water jets on it.... reminds me of the Presidents Slide in south dakota.

I love this ride

This is an interesting ride. The "log" is more of a rubber material and was really flimsy. However you don't really get soaked which is why I like it as I don't enjoy water rides.

I worked on the version at SDC from 1989 to 1994. 7 stories up in the air. Couldn't find a hilly area in a mountain range in which to build it. Guests freaked out about the 7 stories up factor, they might fall over the side which NEVER hppened. So SDC put a top on the chute so you were enclosed in the DARK and couldn't see crap for 90 percent of the ride. Idiots threw trash over the side while in line climbing the tower and hit people on the ground. Glass root beer bottles to your head?

@TonyMProductions Neither its more of a log flume crossed with a water slide. the slide is like a water slide with sand paper to slow it down now. but the last time i went with family we all rode it and we pretty much almost flew off the slide!

it's worth the mile hike up the hill for the ride in my opinion. I Love that ride!

Stand in line 45 minutes for a 33 second ride. The insurance for it was insane because you sit tandum, and in the dark you don't know how close your face is getting to the head of the person in front of you. The boats were made out of a foam and rubber which was biodegradable when left wet in the sun. HELLO ! ! ! ! The verson at SDC just never stood a chance.

I stand corrected. I was looking at the wrong section of the map lol. So it's only Timber Tower that they've eliminated. By the way, do you know why they got rid of Timber Tower? I heard that someone got hurt on it, but I don't know if it's true.

I must admit. The trough that this runs on looks very much like the troughs used on those Intamin/Giovanola Swiss bobsled type coasters.

There used to be a ride just like this at Silver Dollar City in Branson called the Wilderness Waterboggan, and they took it out. I wonder why this one is still in operation at Dollywood (formerly SDC Tennessee) and the one in Branson isn't?

Who said Six Flags? I am aware SDC and Dollywood have different owners, I just wondered why this ride worked in TN and not in MO.

Anyone knows why Dollywood decided to close this water ride? I mean if it was popular enough, wouldn't they do something to keep it unless it was a pain in refurbishments such as costs or hard to find equipment and parts. Maybe Dollywood can do something in place of the Slidewinder like maybe a reboot and build a water coaster (aquatrax or build their own version of Matterhorn @ Disneyland) in the area. If not, how about putting a version of Slidewinder at Splash country in memory of the original but with some added surprises like waterfalls and instead of conveyor belts to slow down at the end, it would be a small pool of water.

Also Dollywood & SDC have the same parent company Herschend.

This ride can be intense depending on how much weight you have in your car/ boat thing. It can go REALLY fast :)

I love this ride but I try not to notice the fact that the supports kinda wobble, the fact that its really old ,and the boats look pretty beaten up

You have to walk a mile to get to this, and then it lasts 5 minutes and its barely a drop..wow

Anyway the reason while i'm here is to ask anyone out there that has visited this park if you think DOLLYWOOD is ready for Prime Time--- the building of a hypercoaster. I understand that this is a family themed park--but aren't they all when parks first start out? Look where Cedar Point is now--rolling with the Big Boys--I bet they started as a family themed park as well.

How scary can that be? It's a few banked curves and a drop that's not even steep. I was afraid to go on Big Thunder Mountain (Yeah, I'm a chicken. I know) but this wouldn't scare me the slightest.

they took that ride and that whole dreamland forest part away. for a new ride that kinda looks retarded, they must be running out of areas to expand the park. the dreamland forest is that water playground thing that you walk through before you get to slidewinder.

That one was not as sucessful as this one,and was did not operate as well that one.Also this is not Six Flags,the parks are not a chain,and are manged indviaully.
