Compared to Chicago, Zermatt has no air. I was lucky enough to be able to take a trip to Zermatt, Switzerland and unicycle in a small section of the Swiss Alps.
The Matterhorn and other beautiful peaks were in view a majority of the time which made the steep trails and semi-sheer cliffs definitely worth it. But again, there's no air. Goes to show how much more practice I need to hang with the Europeans.
If you have the chance, I'd highly recommend taking on the Yo-yo trail and AHV Weg trail. Thanks to Trailforks for helping me navigate these!
Oh, but also, Yo-yo trail is incredibly difficult so take your time. As much time as you need. It's not an easy run.
I'm also very proud of my future wife and her cranking out two days worth of mountain biking on these trails. Her biggest fear was biking near sheer edges but compared to the Swiss Alps, anything in Illinois is child's play.
Matterhorn - 14, 692ft (4,478m)
Taschhorn - 14,734ft (4,491m)
Dom - 14,911ft (4,545m)

very interesting to watch. Looks like you had some steep, high altitude hills to cycle up. I was amused by your 27.5" unicycle packing job. It looked like you turned it into carry on luggage.

It ended up being an oversized checked bag but it worked out. The wheel was just too big to be anything smaller. But I highly recommended taking your unicycle on vacation with you haha

hey dan, i just found my 26" nimbus, do you think theres much of a benefit of upgrading to the 27.5"

Good question. I know unicycle.com has a “find the right unicycle” guide so that might be something to look over but the benefit of a bigger wheel is speed and the likelihood of it rolling over roots and rocks. Both are helpful. The drawback is it’s not as maneuverable and might take some time to get used to. Why are you interested in upgrading the wheel size? Depending on the reason, an upgrade may or may not be the solution.
