MMBR: The Mountains & Manure Bikepacking Route. 225 Miles/25,00ft. Of Climbing Episode 1 White Mountain National Forest #bikepacking #bikepackingroutes #gravelbike #cycletouring #gravelgrinder
Here it is The Mountains & Manure Bikepacking Route, or MMBR for short. we've been plugging this series for a couple months now and we are so excited to share this experience with you. After months of creating the route on RidewithGPS, doing recon missions to make sure it's all bike worthy, talking with private landowners, planning, packing, filming, etc, we're happy to say this route was a huge success. We feel it captures the essence of Northern New England from the rugged mountain terrain of New Hampshire beautiful quaint farmland of Vermont (home of gravel legend Ted King) small town America, lakes, remote wilderness, idyllic gravel roads, pristine lakes, singletrack, old historic logging roads, and so much more. It's not as long as something like the Colorado Trail or The Great Divide (check out Ryan Van Duzer for those two-epic series) but this route will make you fall in love with this intimate part of our country. New England may be bikepacking best kept secret. The landscape changes minute by minute instead of the same view for hundreds of miles, there's tons of awesome food and towns to re supply, water is always in abundance, and it's also a ride through early history of America. Every hour we were awed by something new. But most of all, New England has an intimacy to it that can't be explained, only felt. It will romance you at every mile. It's not easy with its 25,000ft of elevation gain and some slow rolling sections of backcountry terrain but wow is it worth it. Episode 1 leaves right from our small town of Lincoln, NH as we work our way out of the White Mountain National Forest on our Salsa Journeyman adventure rigs loaded up with all our camping gear, and plenty of snacks. We built the route with plenty of re- supply points and camping options and any capable gravel, MTB, or bikepacking rig will work and whatever gear you have is always the best option. Don't get too lost in the sea of gear reviews and options and just start pedaling. If all you have is a hiking pack and two wheels, you're still going to have a blast. There's not much pavement on this route and very few cars even when getting to a town. The route ends as a point to point, in the little town of Jacksonville, VT on its southern border. This series will end there but we've been working hard on a full loop back to make it a huge 600-mile trip that will be released in the future. Please leave a comment or ask as many questions as you can if you are thinking of riding the route or need gear advice or route building advice. The route building process can be almost as fun as the actual ride...almost. Thanks so much for watching.
Much Love
