Me and my cat used to watch this together, it was his favourite. He either heard the music and came running onto my lap to watch or he would sit on my lap and attentively stare at the laptop screen then look up at me as a hint to put his favourite video on. Miss that little dude.
They say the same for hamsters but mine knows his name and comes to it he also knows a few tricks I tell him sit stand and come and does it it took him around 2 minutes for his name and a few hours for the tricks as my other hamster took two weeks to learn her name she might be not to smart but I love her
so sad to think that he's probably been gone for seven or eight years now, as painful as one of my own darlings passing. I guess we just have to love them while they're with us.
What a smart little mouse!! This is my cat's most favorite video; he doesn't take his eyes off the screen!! He hears the music in the beginning and immediately jumps up on my lap to watch =)
I'm impressed with how impressed we are with this. We as humans look at this little mouse and we think, oh how smart he is. He can be behaviorally trained to jump through hoops just like the rest of us, opposing thumbs or not. Big deal, I can drive a car to my slavery, 9 to 5 Monday through Friday. This little guy is actually smarter.
Brain Storm truly is the world's smartest mouse. This has to be my favorite video on the internet. I loved watching every second of it. What a remarkable little animal!
Mice and Rats are very intelligent, clean, and make wonderful pets. I've had rats off and on for most of my life. They're awesome animals. I now have a wee female mouse I rescued and she's a sweetheart of a fuzzy thing. I love her as much as I adore my cats.
Brain Storm is just wonder-full!!! and so is his person as well as the John Williams music. it was all so gorgeous, intelligent and full of love it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for this moment.
This is my cat's favorite show. As soon as he hears the two bells in the beginning of the vid, he comes running and plops himself down in front of the screen. It's a great way to placate him when he's being obnoxious!
I'm pretty sure the there was a scent trail painted. Because if you look closely, the only part that required assistance from the owner was the "loop" part. and if you think about it, when you have a loop, the scent will be in a circle, which will destroy the leading factor. The course is set distance apart, so the scent will not affect other part of the trail. The entire time mouse was just sniffing and getting hit on where he should go next.
Brilliant! That was awesome! And i loved the music! Where did you get that cool mouse statue? I would love to have one as i am now collecting mouse statues, Thank you so much and Luv Luvs to all your little mouseys! All the best to you and your little mousey family!
@TheMisterCat That was my first thought about how it might have been done as well because BrainStorm seems to stop and sniff a fair bit. Very cute in any case.
Absolutely brilliant! I could say this is a very smart mouse, or I could say that this average mouse has a very savvy trainer for an owner!! Excellent!
obviously some sort of scent trail left for him, noticeable by his pauses, and how you redirect him around the loop (since the trail would split at the cross-section
this is amazing! ive never seen mouse agility before. i love mice they're so adorable. my mum has owned several mice. they're so intelligent and beautiful!
At first, I thought it was going to be a joke. I never thought that a mouse could remember such a complex course. Maybe just pulling a lever for a treat, or something simple like that. Great work.
That's awesome! I'm not surprised that your mouse is smart, but I am surprised by just how smart he/she is! My rats are way too lazy to ever learn such a long and complex course, Brain Storm must be one great pupil! Congrats, I'm impressed by you and your mouse!! :)
That seriously is AMAZING. Very peaceful to watch, though. :D Very cute, very impressive, what an amazing training job you did there, you must love your mouse a lot. :)
I'm not sure that 'laying a scent on the track' would work..in a few cases he could have easily gone around/under as opposed to over objects, I'm thinking he ran the course in a closed maze, and later removed parts as it learned the course. What's important here is that it's entertaining to watch. Enjoy the mystery of how it was done and "just" applaud the mouse and it's owner for being so entertaining. Well Done Brain Storm !! Bravo!! I'd love to see more :)
if you look on the floor of the course there is rat pellets i think and it guides the rat he probably been doing that for a while to get him use to the course
WOW! i made a maze for a science project, but nothing even CLOSE to that!!! Amazing you should show how you train your mice in a video!! Seriously, Props to you!!
I can't imagine how many hours it took to train your mouse for this. WOW! I tried training Apple but he's so darn hyperactive and he hates being away from me so he just jumps on me whenever I put him down.
@SuburbanDon . Well I'm guessing (to answer your question) with scent carefully laid out for the mouse to follow and I'm betting I'm not far from the mark.
That was so amazing!!! Has to be one of the best things I have ever seen :-) Some brilliant ideas too. Did you start with the first obstacle and build from there or use back-chaining?
What a smart little guy! BTW - as RU-vid is wont to do - they changed the music to your video; now, instead of the Olympics theme song, it's backed by something called "Northern Sleep". It's actually pretty cute the way it is, but I'm guessing that it doesn't convey the level of excitement you intended. Apparently you can apply to use copyrighted material; I would recommend that, or finding another trumpet-y song, because this mouse is Olympian!
@chidoriboy153 "How did you train your mouse?" Oh I didn't train it, I evolved it. Didn't take as long as one might expect. I just bought 50 of them at a pet shop and picked them a t random to run the maze. At first they played dumb, but after I shot the first 27, mouse number 28 looked me dead in the eye and began running the obstacle course. If I narrowed my eyes, she would change direction. If I ever so imperceptibly nodded my head she knew she was on the right path.
Hmm, I wonder if you lay a strong odor across the course that the mouse would follow, hence the sniffing at parts (notably at the circle where he wanted to cut it short).
Ive had 31 pet mice in my lifetime & only 3 showed intelligence like this.Amazing!I cant believe it & that should show people that a small animal most think of as a pest, can be just as clever as a dog!!!!!!!!!!
