Tip: It’s easier to play if u trap the cats in certain areas by opening/closing colored doors at the right time. You can also trap yourself in a location to be safe from the cats if u want to take a bathroom break. My sister and i used to play this for hours when we were kids. Thanks for the good memories!
I did manage to flip the score too. Not that hard if you lock the cats in using the doors. You can even lock all the cats in a single 2x1 room. After a while I started collecting all the bonus prises, on every level another new bonus prize is added each increasing in 200 points (like 1000, 1200, 1400 and so on) until you had 31 bonus prizes. You started with 6 bonus prizes.
WoW! Watching this overwhelms me with nostalgia. My dad bought the family ColecoVision for Christmas one year when I was a kid....with several games to go with it. I loved this game...along with Q*bert, Burgertime, Donkey Kong and Carnival. Thanks for the awesome video. I actually WOULD have sat through the whole half hour and watched you play if you hadn’t sped things up. Thanks for the wonderful memories.
I played this way too much, and it was my favorite Coleco game :) I think we also had Cosmic Avenger, Looping, Donkey Kong (obviously, since it was the pack-in at the time), Jumpman Jr., Smurf Rescue and a few others, though I can't recall all of them at present (and also because I was 4 when we got it).
Me and my sister played this to death and donkey Kong, we got so good we started playing donkey Kong upside down and beating the the game! Even when the screen turned into all latter's, we still played upside down and beating donkey Kong all the time
Just watched a play of the arcade and this is surprising very close. Love the high pitched noise the cats make when you eat them. Interesting how the hawk never makes an appearance.
Not on Skill 1, but if you play Skill 2, 3 or 4 it does. On these higher skill levels, if it comes near you, enter the purple "IN" door to make it choose a random path rather than chase you down, but this also causes your mouse to warp to one of four different corners of the maze. In the arcade release, it said "ENTER (IN) TO MAKE HAWK STUPID."
Nice review, I never had a chance to play this one myself when I was growing up. I like the idea of being able to activate your power up at will, instead of having it be active as soon as you get it. Kudos on the high score thing!
Love this game spent Weeksand Months playing this game whole summer of 83 or 84 can't remember but anyway wish they would make this in a psp collection that would rock
I have a sega genesis controller that was rewired to work correctly for the colecovision. I don't think a stock sega controller will work 100 percent correctly if my memory serves me right.
@@65Gamerguy it was worth the thought since those colecovision controllers get clunky and rigid when it comes to up down left right basically every movement you would do. miss those dust magnet controllers LOL! BTW what is the best way to deal with the rigidness the directional stick has after a year plus of use?
I've played so much this game. My personal high score was (27 years ago) 1.500 000 (I was wondering : "what will happen when I'll get the million ?". The answer was : you restart from zero...
@@ChirpTheErithacus um, sure, that’s what I’m referring to, but my friends and I definitely shortened the name back in the day, like almost every other console. Do you correct people for writing Nintendo, and not Nintendo Entertainment System?
Seems like kind of an alternate version of Pac Man.. But, the whole cat, mouse, cheese and dog story makes a lot more sense than a mouth eating dots..) I recall someone brought it over when I was a kid but I don't think I ever owned it.. Another game other than Mr Do and Popeye that could use a remake..
Bring the hawk into play ,,(choose a higher skill level) if you want grow some white hair quickly, on skill level one you can point press the bonus objects galore. probably the closest to the arcade of any console at the time, still liked ladybug over this but both are hours of fun..
At some point I should probably make videos of Coleco games on higher skill levels. There are many games that feature more arcade features, i.e. extra enemies, that skill level one lacks.
@@65Gamerguy I liked the fact that most Coleco arcade game conversions have quite a wide range options burryed in a games 4 skill levels ,, the fact you can turn the hawk off lets people enjoy the game ,, "but" its there for added challenge , many of the other conversions did not offer all the game play elements due to there hardware limitations.
You mean the intellivision version with the SHIT graphics? This version is MUCH closer to the ORIGINAL arcade, and ARCADE perfect gameplay is THE MOST important factor in ports. Sound don't mean fuck all
The arcade version has a hawk that will fly across the maze and kill you if you are not quick enougth , your only defense was to enter the "in" box in the center of the maze which would confuse the hawk for a short time , the difficulty of the arcade was quite high compared to the Coleco version
i was the best at this. i had to stop because i could not lose. tried to get to 999,999 before it turned over. i challenge Billy Mitchel to beat me, bitch!
Is this a screen capture from an NTSC source? This looks just as bad as it would on a television of the time, and a poorly tuned one at that. This is exactly what it looked lack back in the early 1980's with a cheap set. It really looks like the shadow mask on the television is shifted just a bit, just enough to produce the wrong color at the edges. A common artifact with computers at the time, because you were so limited in colors and pixes. Anti-aliasing? What's that?? I'm curious how the video was obtained. If this was done through an emulator - what emulator?
