Takes 4 standard AA batteries. It's probably best to just change your batteries annually. If they're dead, you can of course still use the key, so don't lose your key.

Thanks for this. The manual says nothing about the biometric set up which is totally bizarre

I had to watch this video to find out how to set finger print the only thing is it won't stay worked twice then a minute later its the wrong finger print and they're no help either

Brought this off Amazon and it's going right back. It opened once and it could never closed again. The hatch just would not lock shut.

Buy at your own risk. Too many of us are having the same issue with the lid not locking. Sucks because it's a pretty nice safe otherwise. Mine also was missing the inside LED light. I think I got a used one, I really do. 😠 Edit...Hey guys! Good news! I kept playing around with this safe to get the lid to stay closed and locked. I tried every way I could think of, with no luck. As I was going to close the lid again, I put my finger on the biometric keypad, then closed the lid and what do you know, it worked and stayed closed! I've tried it now numerous times with key, pin, and fingerprint and it's now working like a charm! The only thing missing now is the little LED bulb, but that's no biggie. This safe is temperamental to start off, but keep at it (shouldn't have to) and you'll find the right way to keep it closed. I was ready to send it back tomorrow, but glad I kept trying. Hope it works for everyone having the lid issue. Good luck!👍

The one amazon sent me was total crap. It opens up fine the way its supposed to. However, it only closes up when it feels like it and after 5-10 attempts. Its going back ASAP.

Every time I set the finger print it works then 2 minutes later it won't work blink red
