good Ole Alice only weak link in the beast was yes the final drives love Alice Chalmers stuff all the way down to a WD-45 farm tractor my grandfather was a very proud collector and I got to live with and injoy all of them! my fave tractor to this day is still the D21 long live orange!!
Martells 41 left the whloe ripper behind when she broke ogf all the bolts holding it on. They werea great tractor they would rip what 5 air tracks could drill in a day. Change the final drive bearings every 2500 hrs and you were fine the owner of an oper pit mine told me, he had 5 of them working on one site.
That reminds me exactly of conditions in upstate NY in winter. Of course you folks get twice as much snow than NY. The winter nor'easter of 93 was a dooze, 16' of snow in Oswego,NY in 12 hours.Brutally cold for that neck of the woods. I imagine Alaska being much worse though . Thank you Terry for the thought of pictures ,but I'm afraid they do me no good. I listen to sounds mostly.
when i go somewhere and see a ambulance or a deputy the first thing on my mind " dang i`m gonna get hurt or killed" and " dang are they watching me hymmm"
Thank you for your comment. I know full well they did. Have you EVER operated this particular bulldozer ? I'm assuming no,right...then you Sir don't know. Not getting in a pissing contest with some random person on you-tube, about whether the HD-41 had final drive issues . Have a wonderful day.
While i never operated them various good friends who owned and operated them said that if they had a.weakness it was the final drives. But I have also been told it is something that happens with all dozers and it its worse when you add a tree spear..i think it comes down to how well they are treated and looked after.
You dont know what your talking about... These 41s never had a final drive problem that plagued them. All dozers & I dont care what make, have issues over their lifetimes but these dozers neverhad an issue that plagued them.
I just can't help myself. Have YOU EVER OPERATED this bulldozer ? I'm sure the very large contractor took care of their fleet. By the way,was it the outfit in PA,that using the FA-41B to reclaim the land ? Then using airplanes to seed. Was it that company ?
He s could have set the blade down, plus a 2 d shank ripper, and kept going. That sled wasn't even there. The sled was on the verge of being ripper apart at the end.
Some of them had issues I have already stated that.. The word plagued is what I find that you Dont know what your talking about. A large, VERY LARGE contractor in my area had one of these for YEARS & NEVER had a final drive problem. So I would say ONCE AGAIN that they never had a PLAGUED final drive problem...Thats not to say some had issues, I did not say that .The issue is did a problem PLAGUE them,,,,, Not with the local contractor here.....By the way it was a FA 41B.........
If I'm not mistaken I believe they both way right at 68 tons. At first I would think the Dozer would win but, then I remembered the Abrams tank has almost three times as much horsepower ,so it would definitely be something to see.
@@adamzaidi1748 it's not the horsepower, it's the driving force at the chain and the grip to bring the force to the ground. I think, the Dozer has the better traction chain.
