The Museum is just such an iconic design. Maybe a “fashion watch”. But I consider it more of an art piece.

For sure! And I didn't realize that the design is actually older than I thought! 🍸🍸

@@KillingTimeWithNorman I have a question, I’m planning to buy a movado watch off of a retailer, and I’m not sure if it’s real or not because it’s a Japanese quartz movement and not Swiss quartz. So does movado make Japanese quartz or is it a knock off???
@KillingTimeWithNorman
@KillingTimeWithNorman Год назад
@@FYNOQZ It sounds like they typically use Rhonda movements, however I see at least one vintage Movado listed with a Japanese movement. What is the reference? Maybe researching that particular piece can shed some light on it. I know Museums (If that's what you're looking for) are available on eBay, new and used, for decent prices. Thanks!

I thought you were really going to give the watch a horrible review, in fact it is very fair. The Movado museum is an exercise in elegance, not a daily wear, if one is attending a theater play, the symphony, the opera a especial dinner, etc. Anywhere where formal wear may be required. Someone needs to clarify what a fashion watch is, a watch made by a legitimate watch company ( Seiko, Bulova ) for a fashion house, such a Michael Kors for instance, Movado is a legitimate watch maker. Lastly the glass is scratched because the previous owner wore it on the inside of the wrist. Some people seem to think that looks cool. Enjoyed the presentation very much.

I've always admired the museum watch and have owned the same watch in your review for the last decade. I have used it as my dress watch for the last ten years as it pairs well with formal attire. It is wearable art and on display at MOMA. I would not classify it as a fashion watch, it is a far more important watch than that categorization. Enjoying your channel, subscribed!

I agree. There is something about the Museum that elevates it beyond what it otherwise would be classified as. So yeah, when I refer to it as a fashion watch - I personally don't view it as such, just as I don't view Swatches as they get classified. Some watches are so great they really are their own thing!

I love Movado watches. Actually dreamed about the Pete Sampras model in the 90s when I didn't have a pot to piss in. With at least 5 Dead quartz watches scattered throughout my home ...I'm done with changing batteries. But after this video I was pleasantly surprised to find out they make an automatic version this watch for around $800. To me its worth it.

For any Serious watch collector/enthusiast, you MUST have a least one Movado. I recently bought a 606369 and a "cheaper" ESQ. The ESQ has a better ETA G10 compared to my 606's Ronda 712, not like you can go wrong with either. Movado watches are meant for your fine dinner-out nights and parties, same reason you only take your sports car out on the weekends.

While you have a 2018 model it appears they have become bigger and bulkier than in the past. Like you, I have very small wrists. My model from around 1990 has a 32 mm case and is 4 mm in depth. My watch has the gold dot and hands and also has the black Teflon link band. These newer models don't really define minimalism at all well. Try and get a much older model and see the difference.

Movado is the one that started it all for me. I like their museum watches mainly anything during and before their “The Art of Time” campaign is good for me when it comes to the Movado brand. Their new stuff is just hideous, boring, and looks generic. Their Bold line 🤮 but like I said it’s the one that got me into watch back in 2005 😂 Movado Meza was my first.

I have two 90's museum dial watches. I think they are very classy watches to wear with a suit or blazer. The original design predates Movado churning out fashion watches. They do make a lot of crappy designs, but I really like their heritage lines like the Calendoplan and circa. But hey, even big luxury brands like Rolex make some very tacky looking watches.

Absolutely right Norman. The Movado Museum looks much more attractive in a traditional, smaller size. Both Cartier and Gucci also have an ETA quartz movement. As for the newer Movado's, I have a feeling that they are no longer made in Switzerland.

I considered picking one up at the start of the year. I think they look amazing. Didn’t realise how good that lizard strap was until this video. Shame it’s so long. It wouldn’t fit my 6.5 inch wrist. Agree it’s a mix of Bauhaus with a touch of Egyptian. I was thinking half way through what a 36mm would look like and….boom! You showed it. I’ll keep an eye out for one. Careful trying to buff out scratches on mineral. I’d be inclined to swap it out for a sapphire. Edit: movado 87-E4-0863? When I search it shows the gold version only 🤔
@KillingTimeWithNorman
@KillingTimeWithNorman 3 года назад
:) They really are pretty cool! Yyeah re:buffing. I haven't made any headway, so gonna live with it for now. It def needs a new crystal. The dial appears to be clean and dark, but think the crystal in daylight makes it look ... weird - think it's kind of cloudy oslt. I'll be using Tic Toc again, prob around Jan, gonna do a bit of research into how possible it would be to have a sapphire crystal put in. With this aesthetic, I feel the newer it looks the better. - Unlike other vintage pieces.
