Move Over Hot Toys - Sideshow Reboots Scum & Villainy Collectibles Line! 

Dude, I just got your email as I was watching this, it makes a lot of sense to get the greedo while it's new and regular price if you really wanted it before. I've got some info and advice for you on Greedo because you sound quite unsure what to expect from Sideshow. GREEDO INFO: Sideshow don't use the same bodies they used back in 2010 and their newer stuff is much more up to date, look at their return of the new Jedi Luke skywalker they did for an updated body. This new Greedo is not a reissue, it's been remade from the ground up. The head sculpt is new, the belts are all new and now represent the film better with details like the white metal boxes. The tailoring on the vest is far better, the outfit material is completely different and now accurate to the film. The original Sideshow figure's material is like a 90s shell suit but this new one is like a cross between neoprene and leather. The skin colour is now multilayered and much lighter as the original costume was. The old Sideshow figures skin is more like what you see on screen and the new one is more costume/ prop accurate. In terms of the eyes, the original ones are metallic-ish and in pictures look a solid colour but in person change with the light and angle (they look amazing!) I think these are similar. In terms of Sideshow and hot toys, I personally think people should get what they want. If a cheap car brand like Skoda made the world's best super car and I was some rich super car collector, I wouldn't stop myself from getting a product I love just because it wasn't made by like Bugatti or something. You get what makes you happy, if people don't like it, they can just get, or not get, what makes them happy. And yeah you're right, Sideshow and Hot toys have a close business relationship, if hot toys gave their blessing, they aren't doing these characters because for Sideshow it's a passion, hot toys is more about making money and its too small potatoes for them right now. Having worked at a company that makes products, I would guess the conversion was like: "hey, everyone says we do great aliens, shall we start doing them again, I don't think hot toys will. Let's reach out to Hot toys and see if they have anything planned". Then I assume they got the all clear. Dude I'm excited for these! I want them all but probably budget says only Greedo, Ponda Babba and Ackbar.

These pictures are the best these figures will ever look meaning expect a downgrade. They are nice for about $180 each but not for the asking price. They're insane. Not to mention they beat their molds to death so I expect them to keep releasing these for years if they are successful making the exclusive versions definitely the ones to grab.

Damn. I had convinced myself I didn't need these...but I think I actually do. That's a lotta Original Trilogy figures being prepped for release. Since I've now become an OT collector (no more Disney SW) I'm thinking I'll just have to jump into these lines.

I love the fact that sideshow are doing these figures again, gives a lot more variety in your collection. I think shadow characters are all Jabba’s guards.

These look so good. Instant pre-order. I have the original sideshow 2010 Greedo and it looks great in hand, you wont be disappointed. The new greedo is a complete update with new head sculpt and clothing / stitching and a new body. Don't think you will regret getting Greedo, he is a must have for all A New Hope fans! Only thing is my wife won't let me get Cornelius Evazan at the moment as she said he is too ugly. LOL

I would love to have Greedo, Ponda Baba...and the future Bib Fortuna, but it seems like their pricing is way off. I wish they would go back to Empire and make Zuckuss and 4-LOM again! I guess I'll see what happens, ordering early does make for lower monthly payments over a longer time. I guess I'll see?

These are incredibly overpriced. Sideshow is not Hot Toys.

They all look great. I especially like the fabrics on them. Unless they used some sort of posing trick but the folds on Ponda Baba his pants for example, look very realistic in this smaller scale.

SO very thrilled with this announcement. The first five figures look great and I cannot wait to see the remaining seven revealed in all their glory. This line is my highest collecting priority (alongside Tatooine-related figures) and starting in 2025 I was planning to begin to purchase those 1.0 scum and villainy figures. Not only is this going to save me a small fortune but we'll also benefit from 2.0 advancements as well as figures that were never made before. Win, win, win.

To be honest, I don't see getting any of these for the simple reason I need to be more selective. But the one figure I would get in a heart beat is Bib Fortuna (looks like his silhouette in the background), to put with my sixth scale Jabba. Another Sideshow figure I would love to get is their Gamorrean Guard, for the same reason. I have a Sideshow ROTJ Luke, and it's second to HT only in the headsculpt.

These are still really expensive, especially with shipping and tax. I’m just sticking with Hot Toys.

The new Scum & Villainy figures look cool, but it's hard to justify the cost when there are so many great-looking recent Hot Toys figures up for pre-order that are at a similar or even lower price point. If Sideshow runs a descent promo or discount at some point I could totally see myself scooping them.

Chris, first, sorry again for not keeping up with the comments on your content...still in festival season and struggling for time. I'm really on the fence with these figs. Greedo is the only on of first 4 I care about but for me. Because of their sales data for HT figures, it seems SS has convinced themselves that the customer is willing to pay a higher price BUT, they've forgotten they don't have the track record in delivering. U have their Mythos Boba which now retails for $250 and that is weathered and has a ton of accessories; still has typical SS issues with body, proportions, etc. But THESE don't seem to meet even that standard....so $280++? I'll probably cave in for Greedo and for Boushh (if that indeed is her) but I can't see going any deeper into that line until they reach the bargain bin.

I was excited until I saw these are Sideshow. I'm fairly new to collecting, just started a few years ago, and when I didn't know the difference between Sideshow and Hot Toys and bought the Sideshow R2-D2, I almost stopped collecting. The build quality is so bad. As cool as these figures look in the photos, it's a hard pass for me, but that's just me. I so wish that these were being made by Hot Toys because I want all five of them. The wave 2 looks interesting, too. I'm sure that the first one is Squidhead, but I think that the second one is Klattu. The third one looks like Weequay, but I don't see the ponytail. Of course, Bib Fortuna... I hope that he's better than the old version because I have the Sideshow Jabba, and some of these would go great with him. I do have the old Momaw Nadon figure because Hammerhead was one of my favorite Kenner figures as a kid. He is of decent Quality and holds up well with more modern figures. I've eyed the original Greedo for a while, and this version looks so much better. I'm very hopeful that these are as awesome as the pictures make them look because I think that I'm going to grab them, too, before the time runs out. I'm just weighing it over because there are still Hot Toys out there that I don't have. Still,I love these characters and the chances of Hot Toys making them is slim to zero.

These look great but given Sideshows track record they are either going to look completely different once released or be way over priced for what you will be getting. Fingers crossed they have seen the errors of their past ways (animated Clone Wars figures anyone?).

I think Sideshow need to include more hands and accessories for the price, Got 1 Sideshow figure and it comes with a few basic hands a few pistols ans thats all. Where as Hot Toys at the same price you get much more hands, plus head sculpts weapons etc.

The Sideshow Bounty Hunters were ace.. very expensive now. I wonder if they'll redo them too?

They look great but there’s absolutely no weathering? in any of them and the price is to steep. It all depends on the quality of the product for me so the price scares me to get a mediocre product that won’t stand down the line.

Tempted Chris, but too much for me right now, got to sell my JazzInc 22 Batmobile then I might be tempted in a Greedo!

If they are really a limited run and as you say unlikely Hot Toys will make them. In 5/10 years time you can see these figures going for crazy money. Then everyone will be wishing they'd jumped on now despite been expensive. It doesn't help that there's so much stuff coming out and then these five figures come out of blue.

Thought you might do a video in these, and you didn’t disappoint! Way overpriced for sub HT quality. Wouldn’t waste cabinet space on the first 5, will see who’s in the next wave.

Hono Wolverine was priced at $160, let that sink in before dropping $280 on a second tier supporting character by Sideshow. These are clearly being marketed at diehard OT trilogy fans who want every single character they see on screen and have cash to burn. For a PT trilogy fan it would be like dropping $280 on a Rune Haako lol

OT. Getting all of these. Already pre-ordered the first two. Collection was crying out for more non-human characters. Floppy body complaints a little overblown on the later day sideshow releases. Own Skiff Lando and the joints are fine. Hot Toys has no interest in making these and would rather keep putting out main characters. Do I think these should be cheaper? Sure, but it is what it is.

They look good, but all kind of background "extras" characters. Can't see me getting any. I have too many POs as it is.

I've owned, sideshow star wars figures, they are super figures and are very collectable in there own right, not the very early ones before hottoys, there nasty. Dengar is one of the best detailed figures you could buy, above hot toys easily, but painted eyes unfortunately. His suit and gun is a masterpiece. Hammerhead is another mind blowing figure. These are brillent good on you sideshow, hot toys have yet again missed out.

My wallet is hating this... Probably going to go for Garindan and pose with a Sandtrooper and Greedo for now.

Regarding your loyalty to Hot Toys and so debating whether to get these Sideshow figures or not. I'd say that if both companies made the figure then get the Hot Toys one but, when Hot toys aren't making a version then feel no guilt or disloyalty getting the only representation available. It's better to have some representation of a figure than none. Ideally, yes, we'd like the best maker to produce every figure, but if they won't then let's support the smaller companies for filling the gaps. And I believe that Sideshow have come on leaps and bounds since they earned their reputation for cheaply made figures. TK "I can't collect everything. I can't collect Hot Toys and these." I feel that if you just shift your perspective a little, from being a Hot Toys collector to being a Star Wars collector, that will make things clearer for you. Why limit yourself? Sure, budget may understandably limit you, space may limit you, but rigidly adhering to a brand is a self imposed limit. You've got other figures that aren't Hot Toys. But hey, at the end of the day you should do exactly what you feel you want to do. No judgement from us, either way. I'm just hoping that one day they'll rerelease the ATAT driver.

Absolutely not worth the $280 price tag especially with no real accessories, plus these will be under the SS banner which isn’t know as the best quality. At best maybe it’s a $220 and that’s still being generous. I would hope HT comes out with a version but they probably won’t.

100% not Boussh and not Ackbar. Certainly all from Jabbas Palace. They look interesting, but the pricing?! Garindan would be nice for a setting with sandtroopers.
