They advertised this well enough too at the time. Any Agfa Super 8 to 1980 was in their chemicals, they switched to E6 and from 1980 to mid-1986, any fading issues were outdone by yellow calcium and mold issues, which all have the red boxes with thin lettering. the last three series of color Super 8 that followed were much better and all E6. I have a Movexoom 10 Sound model that needs fixed, but is in mint shape. They had to stop producing it early because they got sued by Braun Nizo for saying the design ripped off their Super 8 camera design.
@@ZeroBudgetFilmSchool OK, well that was the last of three boxes they issued in 1986, starting Wirth the thin-lettered one from 1980, then in the middle, they did a red box with blue dashes sim liar to their still film 35mm color stocks, so you must have got the very tail end of the olde thin-letter stock with mold and white calcium. Overseas, some companies offer a special chemical wash to get rid of most of that before any HD scanning. since I have some of those boxes, I will be on the alert when I get them developed.
Hmm, good question. The footage you see here was handheld so it's hard to tell with the camera shake. But if you watch the sprocket hole you can see the registration is pretty good. Not as good as a Canon 814XLS but not many cameras can touch the Canon anyway.
@@ZeroBudgetFilmSchool what would you say is the most dependable/ reliable super 8 camera you’ve had experience with? Love the 814s but have had way to many complex mechanical issues come up with mine in the past
@@austinhendricks6645 Good question! Obviously my experiences won't be the same for everyone but I've found Eumigs (Eumigette 2 and Mini 5) and Sankyos (ES44 ES33 and CM300) to be very reliable. My AGFA Movexoom 2000 also lasted for 22 years before it finally stopped working.
Even though the camera has nearly no manual exposure control, if the auto system is working it will meter Kodak 50D and 200T just fine. If you keep the backlight correction on, Tri-X and EKTA 100. The one stock that might come out overexposed is 500T. As for where to buy film, it depends on where you live. eBay always has it.
@@adampatzay If the camera thinks that modern Tri-X is 160asa it will slightly overexpose it on normal setting. Doing the backlight correction will overexpose it even more.
@@ZeroBudgetFilmSchool So should I turn the correction off? We are planning to shoot a music video on Tri-X with this camera and wanna make sure. thank you
@@adampatzay yes, just shoot the Trix on normal setting (not +) and with the daylight filter off (lightbulb setting) . Hopefully your auto exposure is working ok.
