Did anybody ever get so confused as to where they were that you had to put up a "Kitchen" sign haha. Hmmm didn't think Police Story would be down you alley... Guess you gotta get Police Story 3 blu-ray too now, which is out since you're still stubborn and won't be getting the 4k trilogy set ;) Yes! i still need The Kid bluray and it's sadly not all that cheap the places i can find it.
Good point Dennis, but it’s nice to know exactly where you are at times 🤣 yeah I won’t be picking up that 4K set soon lol, I’ll try and get you a copy of The Kid (it may take a while but I will try) take care👍😀👍
Excellent room Alan. What was the room used for before? There is nothing like a good browse through to see your collections, plus all the other reasons is why I won’t go digital. Years ago when I moved into my house I’d planned on doing this kind of library but sadly kids and life got in the way and it’s still just a plan on a piece of paper! 🤔 I have to ask do you have any films in your collection that you just bought because say it completes an actors filmography or a franchise, or that you regret buying but just can’t get rid of it?
Hi Richard, it was my wife and I’s bedroom before and when my daughters moved out (the floor above the movie room) we took her room which is the same size and I took this one for my collection. I’ve waited a very long time to have a room for myself and do not take it for granted at all… I’ve purchased many films on the strength of it having a particular actor involved (most of my movies are blind buys) I don’t regret buying anything so far, if I didn’t enjoy a movie the first time around I’ll give it a few years and go in with fresh eyes. I’ve not thrown anything away so far lol but never say never. Cheers mate, take care 👍😀👍
Very nice...especially the full Studio Ghibli set. You need anime shows in your collection. Cowboy Bebop, Vinland Saga, Attack on Titan, Death Note, Samurai Champloo, FLCL, Monster, One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist....etc.
Hi mate, sorry for the late reply, I completely agree with you, I definitely need anime shows, it’s just getting the money together…so many titles so little money haha, thanks for leaving a comment, take care mate👍😃👍
Brilliant poster's fantastic 👍 wonderful movie tour quite a lot of movies you have Alan matey 👍 great different editions selections of movie's brilliant stuff keep up the brilliant work going 👍👍👌👌
Hi there, sorry for the late reply, the song is called Blue Mountains by Gabriel Witcher…..it’s embedded in the IMovie app on the movie making program on my IPad, I hope that helps, take care👍😃👍
Hi sorry for the late reply, I didn’t get a notification of you message. I’m on bluray . Com under the name filmfan1 if you go in collection section I’m on page 5 then you can check out my entire collection listed, hope that helps, cheers mate, take care👍😃👍
Hi James, it;s a Disney Movie Club Exclusive and I had to pay scalpers prices on eBay and on top of that there was customs charges too…..they only way to get it is either eBay or live in America unfortunately, take care mate👍😃👍
Hi Daniel, sorry for the late reply, yes the entire collection (apart from half a dozen DVD’s) are blu-ray. It’s not rude to ask mate, I live in England in the seaside town of Brighton, take care👍😃👍
I loOoOoove your very diverse selection of movies and your bookshelves organization and display. It looks and feels like a personal collection more than an exclusively cult movies/boutique/criterion movies collection.
Hi mate, yeah I try to get movies from every genre and year, I have a very broad taste in films, I love everything from musicals to martial arts and most things in between. Glad you enjoyed the video, take care mate👍😃👍
Hi dad!! Movie room is coming along nicely! Nice to see the film's I've done for you and how they look in the cases (not bad getting a bit of credit too, thanks 😉) I can't remember which ones you wanted done next. Let me know. X
I always give credit where credits due my darling and you have done an amazing job, I’ll let you know by the weekend which films I need doing lol, take care sweetheart 👍😀👍
As of today I have 6033 but I have a fair few in the post on their way to me 😬 I may need to slow down before I run out of room lol, cheers mate, take care👍😃👍
What a great room and collection! Love the custom shelving as well as the layout! Herbie Goes Bananas was my first movie rental ever after getting our first VHS player. Awesome posters and I like the way you used them on the shelf ends. Great design and way to utilize every inch of the room walls for sure. New subscriber!!!
Thank you very much Kevin, the room took a year of planning and there’s still plenty of work to do. Herbie Goes Bananas is a great movie, I have fond memories of it growing up. I’m very happy the way the posters worked out, I did plan (and actually build a slim forward facing book case on the end of each isle but they didn’t look right. Cheers mate, take care👍😀👍
Hi Colin, yeah it’s surprising that most of them were still alive when I hung the pictures up 😮 life is too short. I do like collecting props too, take care mate👍😀👍
You have a really lovely home. 🙂 That's a nice autograph collection. Most of my autographs are on my movies. Amazing movie room, Alan. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Ray, I’ve never considered having a movie case cover autographed, that’s a very good idea, thank you, I love where I live (despite being right in the city centre) take care👍😀👍
Lovely to see it all Alan. You have a beautiful home. Your kitchen is gorgeous! I’m very jealous! 2 Tom Cruise autographs?! Awesome! You have a very enviable collection and everything is arranged so well. I can’t believe how much you paid for Cool Runnings!!
Hi Lisa, thank you, my wife was mortified that I filmed the kitchen, she always thinks it looks messy….oddly enough I have 3 more Tom Cruise autographs on the next floor up haha, yeah £120 what was I thinking…..take care Lisa👍😀👍
What a lovely room to have. I have just moved house and will be looking to do something similar. I’d be interested to know if you have put anything on your windows to reduce your cover art from fading? I was looking at UV film for windows but I’m not sure how effective it will be.
Hi Matthew, thanks mate. I’ve put a frosting film over the windows to prevent fade and direct sunlight plus I have blackout blinds as well on extremely sunny days, it seems to be working as I’ve been using the room for almost 2 years without problems, hope that helps mate, take care👍😀👍
Hi Sir Alan, Thanks for sharing your complete movie room in a video, & what a nice set up, the movie stars autographs are superbly displayed & many great ones on display, but obviously i"m liking the Clint Eastwood one 👍, i like that Lethal weapon set which i have also, the daughter does a good job on the covers. The posters cap the movie room off, WTF £120 for "Cool Runnings" i guess nobody can borrow that movie from your collection ! Impressive tv series collection, i"ve just started watching the tv series of "The Incredible Hulk" with my twin nephews, would be a shame if the HMV Premium editions come to a halt, i do like their releases. Must make you feel proud with the time & effort it took to get to this point, job well done so far Alan !
Hi Carlos, thanks mate, I’m very happy with the progression of the room (I know I’m very lucky to house my collection in one room) I know £120 for a single film, this was in the days before I started trading with our friends from across the pond lol. That’s so cool your rewatching The Incredible Hulk and bring it to a younger audience as well (uncle of the year mate👍) yeah fingers crossed the HMV Premium line continues but it looks doubtful at the moment ☹️ I’m proud that I made all the bookcases myself, it’s saves money and means I can maximise the capacity at the same time lol, cheers mate, take care👍😀👍
Ure kitchen is well nice mate .. you av done such an amazing job on the movie library.... I find it a chore to move a few of my collection coz mine is alphabetised as well.....but for you ure collection is so large ...it must take a fair bit of time...the work you av done is awesome..... ope ure feeling better this week.....thank you for all the work you put into wot you do ..... I am sure like many of ure subscribers it was such a great day wen you came back .....unlike Boom town rats I do like Mondays.... its Kermits Day ....enjoy the rest of the week and weekend mate .. 👍👍👍👍
Hi mate, thank you I put the kitchen in myself a couple of years ago 👍 yeah I usually wait till I have around 100 films before I put them into the collection and it takes hours….it’s my pleasure mate and comments like yours make it all worth while, take care mate👍😀👍
Leave it to the American to be more obsessed with the idea of having a door on your kitchen! 😆.. Very impressive library and collection of autographs though!
Hi mate, it never occurred to me that having a door on a kitchen was an unusual thing, I’ve never been to someone’s house in America (although I have visited often) I wonder what else is different, (I know the plug sockets are and we have separate taps or faucets as you call them for hot and cold water) cheers mate, take care 👍😀👍
Thank you very much, I still get a smile on my face when I walk in the room, it’s such a relaxing space, thanks again, I really appreciate it mate. Take care👍😃👍
You are only the second movie room that I have seen (and I’ve seen several rooms) that feature ACTUAL movie theater seats. I absolutely love that. I know I know that theaters have mostly gone the way of the recliner but in my mind and ever since I was a kid, this type of seat meant “movie theater” so kudos for that. Love the room.
Awe thanks mate, yeah I’m of the same mindset, these are and will always be movie theatre seats…and it was very important to me to have authentic (used) seats in my movie library, I really appreciate your kind words, take care mate👍😃👍
Great stuff, Alan! Love hurts is my favourite episode of house, it’s the episode that stuck with me the most, John Cho happens to guest star in the episode also. Anyway, I hope you and yours are doing well, I spent yesterday (Thursday, October 6) setting up a ring doorbell 😜 Trust me, don’t feel too bad about where you started in terms of your library room being a dumping ground, my living room/bedroom is like that at the moment 😜 Finally, looking to make a start on my home theatre space next year. I have a lot of things to look forward too just in terms of my own home improvements, the problem is with me though, I want everything done yesterday. 😂🤣😜 Take care anyway
Hi Eva, glad you liked the room tour, I need to rewatch House, it’s been so long and I’m starting to forget it, I just know I was glued to it when it aired (obviously I remember the characters though) I could do with a ring doorbell, we have a crappy intercom system but it’s due for an upgrade soon 🤞 this room was such a mess mid build it was a nightmare to film in haha. You sound like Melanie, she wants thing done as she’s saying it lol, very impatient…. But she hates the mess that comes with it too.. big hugs and cuddles Eva👍😀👍
@@kermitsghost well of course, let it sound like your wife from a certain point of view, it’s a very borderline thing 😂 My doorbell has definitely been worth it within the last 24 hours (as at the time of writing). There’s so much to do in my home, but there isn’t enough months in a year, not to mention the fact that everything boils down to that little thing called money. That being said I know I’ll get there in the end, even if it takes me the next 10 years or so, curiously, I’m interested to see where I’ll be by the time I hit 50 (I know I’m only 36 right now but still). thanks for the cuddles
Hi Alan, great movie tour, I see you do your movie in alphabet order? I used to do mine like that but got fed up with moving so many movies around just to put 1x movie into your collection. Now I organise mine by genre which I find more easier to organise. Like you I have every HMV premium collection but they have not added any new titles in over 6 months? I wonder if they have stopped? I hope not because I've enjoyed collecting them and they look fantastic on the shelves altogether. Thank you for sharing your collection most impressive.
Hi Ray, I wait now till I have at least 100 films before I attempt to enter them into the fold, I have considered doing them by Genre or even actor but always back out when I think I’ll have to take them all off the shelf to reorganise haha yeah it’s not looking good for further HMV Premium releases but never say never 🤞cheers mate, take care👍😀👍
@@kermitsghost no it’s open floor plan so everything flows together. A lot of new houses in the states are made like that now . The craftsmanship is less than impressive though .
Excellent video Alan, love all the woodworking skills to make your library, It actually looks like a library, which is great 😁😁👍👍 love the way you bring the 2 shelves out of the walls to steal space, just a great dedicated room to your passion Alan 🤩🤩👍👍 cool runnings though 😳😳🤣 wow we've all been there at one time or another!! The out on loan label as well ❤😁 yeah amazing space Alan 🤩🤩👍👍
Hi John, thank you, I was never very good at woodwork at school so I’m more surprised than anybody haha, just practice I guess, yeah I wanted to utilise the space as much as possible and the two isles give me space for about 1500 more movies, so result there haha. I know, I know £120 for one movie…what the hell was I smoking lol, cheers mate, take care👍😀👍
@@kermitsghost well you've certainly done a cracking job with the layout and the isles is a great idea for sure 🤔🤩 haha yeah I was kind of 😲😲😲 when you said it, but sometimes there was literally no wat to get some movies out there for a decent price (still is) this could be a slight benefit of streaming, at least you might be able to watch the movie and wait fit a re release 😁😁 cheers Alan 🤩🤩👍👍
Hi Alan, your kitchen is so nice. I like the seating area. Incredible autographs you have and the room tour was amazing. I was drinking my tea and I was like in all and excited looking at everything. Thank you so much for taking the time to show us.
Hi Ariel, thank you so much, I put the kitchen in myself. Haha it’s nice to relax with a cuppa and watch RU-vid…. I do the same thing haha, take care👍😀👍
Wonderful room tour Alan 👍👌.So much time and effort you have put into your collection and looks fantastic. Wish I could have a movie Room myself. Maybe one day 🙏. Great set of signed photos as well.Nice one 👍
Hi Matt, I’m sure you will have a room one day, took me 25 years for one of my children to move out haha, yeah it took a while to get it to this stage but I’m happy with it for now lol, take care mate 👍😀👍
Hi Alan, yeah the posters were an afterthought to hide the join between the bookcases but they worked out very nice, I wait till I have around 100 films before I enter them into the fold (and it takes hours to do) cheers mate, take care👍😀👍
It’s not a dumb question at all, I would estimate the entire cost (not including the films and memorabilia) to be £3500, I have no idea how much to buy all the movies as some are limited and some out of print. Hope that helps, take care mate👍😃👍
@@kermitsghost Great man!! You are an inspiration for the few left physical media lovers in today's Netflix world. If i ever get the time and resources I would definitely build this dream movie room like yours❤️
Great Room tour video is always Alan . I love all the props you have in your collection and those film tins I know you’ll do something with those . Looks like you still have plenty a room for more movies.
Hi Mike, thanks mate, I have been collecting little props late, I actually forgot that I have a movie prop from SpiderMan 3 in my upstairs cupboard, so maybe I’ll remember for next time haha, yeah room for around 3000 more movies, take care mate👍😀👍
Alan, thanks for taking the trouble to film and upload this 📽movie room tour 🎬. It's clear to see how much trouble you go to in keeping the huge collection well organised. 👍 The self made 'bespoke' shelving units to store the collection together look great and enabled you to maximise the space available in the room. I've said it before but the two sash windows add to the character.
Hi mate, thanks mate, yeah it took a surprising amount of time to film the tour (plus I cut out a lot of footage) I have tried to maximise the space to get as much in as I can, it took a fair bit of planning (but that’s all the fun I guess) yeah I love the double windows too, on a sunny day the light floods in…take care mate👍😀👍
Hi mate, it’s taken me a long time to build it as I’m not the quickest with projects lol but I’m extremely happy with the results so far, still some work to go though, take care mate👍😀👍
I love a movie room tour and This room just looks incredible. Love the layout and the posters at the ends. Looks like you will have plenty of space for a bit of time. Good to see you still got you favourite film on VHS ( I’m not judging) Strange that hmv have not done any of there premium collection for some time now. You have done a great job, it looks like you have had lots of professionals in to do it so you should be proud. Thanks for sharing Alan
Hi Gary, cheers mate, yeah room for a few thousand more, not sure what I’ll do then lol. Not sure why I picked up Pretty Woman on VHS, it was the first film I bought when I started collecting seriously (my favourite movie is Lincoln 🤣) I have a feeling the HMV Premium line is ending, which is a shame and I hope I’m wrong about that. I’m really happy the way the room looks, there are a few things I need to go in and change but they cam wait haha, thanks Gary, take care👍😀👍
They are the same height and depth, it’s just the spine is 14mm instead of 9mm cases that Germany, France and the United States use, cheers mate, take care👍😃👍
Thanks for sharing this with us. Love the dedication you have toward your movies. I wish I was 1/10th as organized as you. I think the only thing we have in common is I have a stuffed Kermit too (and a Ms. Piggy).
Hi Erik, thanks mate, glad you liked it, gotta have a stuffed Kermit in the collection haha, I may have to seek out a miss Piggy too some day, take care mate👍😀👍
