Nice video ! Fun-fact : The three GBA video cartridges with movies inside are actually 64mb cartridges. And there is even a GBA video cartridge with TWO movies (Shrek 1 & Shark Tales) that have even more compressed audio\video. The interesting fact is that the developers have find the way to fit three hours of video inside a 64mb cartridge.
Are you aware that the Gameboy Advance SP was released with two different screens? You have the front-lit screen, which is terrible. The later SP had a back-lit screen, which was amazing. Edit: I see that this has been mentioned several times in the comments already.
Yeah I realize that, but I didn't feel like going into too much depth with these consoles, since the main topic is about the video formats. It would also ruin some of my jokes!
I don’t know if this is a bad idea, but you could make a blue ray collection video, where you would show what movies you have and how you’ve sorted them, kinda like Chris Stuckmann did.
I’m pretty sure the Gameboy Advance SP had a front-lit screen. With lights shooting down from the top. There was another version of the SP called AGS 101. It had a back-lit screen
You said the PSP had 600 UMD video releases. It's more like 2000 and up. I'm personally at 750 UMDs. On top of that each region got their own specific releases. The U.S, Germany, Australia, Japan, U.K, China you name it. There's tons of UMDs to collect. A UMD movie fan on Instagram I follow has about 1300 as of 2019
@@No_True_Scotsman well this post was 3 years ago and I have sense stopped collecting video games in 2022 My collection when I stopped was at 801 umd movies and 651 psp games. I'm 51 now and ive been collecting sense I got an Atari 2600 for Christmas in 1982. Gaming and game collecting have become something else in the last 10 or so years and i personally dont like the direction the industry is going so the switch was the last system for this old game collector. Happy Gaming to you
The Gameboy & Gameboy Color had a Pelican Performance' Magnifier and Light you had to purchase as an extra accessory that slides over your Gameboy Screen.
Oh yeah I had a Game Boy i had the light attachment that went over the gameboy so u could play in dark lol but I also had a Game Gear with the tv tuner i loved the game gear!!!!!! I actually still have my game gear it works but no games and battery doors are gone.I so miss the 90s 😢
Your Gameboy Advance SP has a front lit display. You have an earlier model AGS 001. The later model with the back lit display is the AGS 101. The AGS 101 has the same screen as the Gameboy Micro. Edit: Just realized that many others have mentioned this in this comment section.
Actually, Nintendo re-released the Advance SP in 2005, infamously known as the legendary AGS - 101. It has an amazing crystal clear and very bright IPS display with a smooth 50hz refresh rate. Also the Game Boy Advance was the 6th. generation of Nintendos handheld consoles, not the 4th.
I don't think the AGS-101 had an IPS screen. I've never heard that. I think it was just TFT but backlit. Alot of people do however mod IPS screens into Game Boys.
Your Gameboy advanced SP was an ags-001 which had a front lot screen. Nintendo then release a Gameboy advanced SP ags-101 who had a backlit screen and was just like the micro but a booger screen
.....& You thought Steven Hawkins voice was synthesized! The option to turn the front screen on or off on the Gameboy SP was so kids could play it if it's past their bedtime, no telltale glow from the screen, then when the parents check up on them, kids can turn off the screen without turning off the game . Looks like you haven't got a Gameboy Pocket. How to copy UMD's? Simple, jailbreak the PSP & use a piece of software on the PSP to dump the UMD contents to memory card. DVD resolution is 720x576 actually.
You've the wrong GBA SP... you've the frontlight (model AGS-001) and not the backlight (AGS-101). Even now you can buy mods of the first GBA with the screen of the GBA SP with backlight. Plus, now you've usb rechargeable AA batteries... and other thing... did you just said you sell you GB Classic for a Game Gear?!?!?!?!?! The Gear use like 6 batteries and last like 5min (3 hours) and the GB like 30 hours. No one in they right mind will make such switch.
You really should have done your research on the GBA SP, the screen is frontlit, not backlit, and you can turn it off when your outside, as the light makes no difference when you're outside. Not hating, I actually really enjoyed this video, just some constructive criticism :) Edit: Also there was a second model of the GBA SP with a backlit screen, comparable to that of the DS Lite
Omg when you did the game boy advanced and you put the cartoon network cartrage it put on a ad as soon as you flipped the switch and it was a Gatorade as XDDDD
Biggest reason for not buying a Game Gear: Batteries got used up within minutes compared to the gameboy and you needed way more of them. What use is a mobile console if you can barely play with it on the go? Best "compromise" seemed to be the game boy Pocket (real greyscale screen instead of yellow-green) with its small size.
