I totally agree! I seriously can't understand what they are saying without subtitles. I went to the drive inns this past weekend and couldn't hear the beginning of the movie because there wasn't subtitles. Lol
yes!!! thank youuuu this is me too. movies and shows make dialogue scenes soooo quiet and action scenes sooo fucking loud!! i live in an apartment and i’m constantly having to change the volume from scene to scene to not bother my neighbors and to be able to hear the people talking, but i still need subtitles for the quieter moments of talking scenes
Definitely looks more aesthetically pleasing to have Matt next to Erin! Maybe mostly because I love seeing their facial expressions towards each other lol I couldn't help but find it hilarious when Matt moved his mic again after just 5 minutes
I haven’t seen many comment on this new arrangement but I’m loving the arrangement it feel and it shows that Erin/Matt can have a more depth conversation with Mike and Carly compared to before it felt more Matt and Erin’s conversation. It involves them all together and I loved seeing Mike’s and Carly’s input instead of seeing all quiet.
Just tuning in to this episode now, I’m so happy y’all decided to start this podcast. I’m a freaking loner and listening/watching podcasts helps me feel like I’m tuning into a discussion I would like to have in real life with fun like minded people. I enjoy and watch all of your other podcasts as well and wanna thank you guys for sharing yourselves with us. I’ve yet to leave a Spotify review bc I haven’t listened to you guys on Spotify yet but I def will when I go on my walks at night. Sending you all love.
Glad to see someone feel the same about this pod and their others as I do, just a good time listening to them all chit chat, perfect company for quiet evenings (:
Being slightly older than you guys, it's always hilarious to listen to you talk about anything before about 1997 because it's like watching how myths and legends form in real time with partially remembered or understood things that were so totally commonplace but since you were young enough it's just a fuzzy memory at best.
Matt is so funny - the one liners that he has this episode "I realized I have plans tonight though" "I never ordered my lunch" and his reaction to Erin saying she uses his credit card info to rent movies lmao 😂
My Vecna movie is 100000% The Holiday because Christmas. Also please record Mike watching all these movies he hasn’t seen before because that will be immensely entertaining as he seems like a true cinephile who would rip any DCOM to shreds.
I can’t with the, “I’ll be honest I wasn’t listening because I was thinking how Jennifer Lopez is honestly not a bad actress.” You guys are hilarious together. Ten out of ten! I repeat…ten out of ten.
Snacks at the theater: Popcorn, Grape Hi-C, Reese's Pieces First R-Rated Movie: Halloween (1978) Veneca Movie: The Wizard of Oz Favorite Horror Movie: Candyman Lion King is amazing Favorite Disney Movie: The Nightmare Before Christmas Favorite Adam Sandler Movie: Uncut Gems First Movie Crush: Alison from Hocus Pocus Favorite Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis Favorite Actress: Audrey Hepburn
ERIN, I never thought someone would claim my fave movie of all time as their "vecna movie"!!! This is amazing!! I am officially the Erin of the podcast
Matt’s either stoned or just in a really good mood in this episode, but I really like his energy. He’s not trying to be too know-it-all. Seems more genuine. Like this side of him. He made the episode
In Pirates 5 when Barbossa responds to his daughter's question, "What am I to you?" with "Treasure" and then sacrificing himself gets me every time :')
I love this podcast! I listen to a lot of podcasts and this one just hits different. Perfect mix of funny and intellectually stimulating. Love you guys
Hearing them talk about horror movies really made me think about how many I watched as a kid. Like I was literally watching The Hills Have Eyes with my family 🤣
I need to know if any of you have seen Josie and The Pussycats (2001). It was my favorite movie as a child and I rewatched it as an adult and it seriously held up. So many jokes that went right over my head as a kid. I think it is a staple early 2000s movie and i highly recommend it because it’s so funny and fun and camp
I'm not a big movie watcher, but I absolutely LOVE the movie theater. The vibes. The ambience. The snacks. I don't know how to explain it but it's really just one of my favourite places
i would die to know the tea on why zane and heath didn’t go to erin’s wedding and why they are so sketchy when matt mentioned this podcast .. i have a feeling it has to do with the vaccine but what do i know
@@qu8083 i think people close in erin and tjs life were immunocompromised and they made it where you had to be covid vaccinated to come to the wedding and they are against it
I was shocked in the best way when Carly mentioned That Thing You Do! It’s a family favorite and I’ve seen it so many times. I love the soundtrack. Love the episode guys! I follow you all and I feel the energy really comes together when you are together
Whattttt the twilight movies are amazing!! Like they are ironically funny but they are so good and nostalgic now. It was such an era... I can't believe you guys don't enjoy them lol
Hey ! I love this podcast ❤ You should do an episode on food ! I am French and whenever you guys talk about food and what you eat, I am always so shocked. Nachos at the cinemas !! I feel it could be interesting for the Europeans like me if you talked more about it !
I really love the dynamic you guys have all together, I genuinely enjoy listening/watching. I don't really listen in on many podcasts, but with you guys it is very easy and fun.
The best cult movie in my opinion is Rocky Horror Picture Show, I love it, it has everything, my sister and I was always watch it together whenever it came on and we'd be reciting it line for line and singing along, one of my favourite memories growing up. My favourite Disney movie is The Jungle Book (the original on VHS version). A movie recommendation is Powder, so moving, I have watched it so many times and cried every single time. My brother, sister and I are always quoting from the Monty Python movies, they are so funny, my favourite is The Holy Grail but they are all good.
Movie hack check: Erin mentioned plastic bags. When I was younger my mom and aunt used to bring me, my siblings, and my cousins all to the movies (can you say hero’s). They would bring ziplock bags and buy one popcorn bucket and filled the bags for all the kids. Then we would go and get free refills! One bucket for all of us:) lovin the podcast queens
i was so let down when matt talked about not being a fan of marvel movies on his podcast, i was hoping he’d touch on it again! but i love this group’s dynamic, instantly became one of my favorite podcasts!!
I'm with Mike, I don't need the negativity of horror movies in my life, but I have made exceptions in the past. and OMG, I remember when our grocery store had video rental, we also had a store downtown. I remember nights walking around the aisles with my dad looking at movies.
I’m from Portland!! Definitely worth a visit! Matt in Astoria the house for the goonies just sold, and the buyer said that if you do the truffle shuffle, you get a tour!
My 8 year old loves spooky stuff! So we allow her to watch Goosebumps, of course, and she's seen IT, the newer one, and the first time she saw it she made fun of the clown! lol! But as she's getting older the "scary" stuff does seem to spook her more. I say when you're kids are interested in scary movies then introduce them slowly and watch the movies with them.
Its 2004....7pm on a Friday night hits, my moms a couple glasses of wine deep and takes us to the nearest Blockbuster. I pick out a few Mary Kate & Ashley movies I haven't gotten to yet and exchange the ones from last week. Life is good
We had a pizza place that you could have a movie delivered with the pizza & for an extra dollar they would come pick it back up! Loved it!!! I still get Netflix by mail, am watching "The Sopranno's" right now!
That was me talking about lion king. Truly sorry lol. But also I agree with Matt on the map time movie thing. I have seen it sooooo many times I think that’s what ruined it for me. But he’s right, Hakuna matata and the bug scene are pretty good tbh. But anyways, my vecna movie is also 10 things i hate about you so I feel like I made up for it. Love u guys!!! Also love the seating arrangement!!
Omg I love the movie murder mystery with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Anistin. It’s so good and they hadn’t been in a movie together since their movie just go with it. Which was my go to movie as a kid. My mom was so done with me watching it🤣🤣 Any movie Adam Sandler is in is so good no matter what.
My boyfriend grew up in the town that Groundhog Day was filmed in and I had to make him watch it for the first time the other day 😭 He didn’t realize how truly iconic it is
I 10000% agree with Mike, the Saw movies scarred me more than any other movie!! The og It and chucky were my childhood fears that held on for a long time but seeing Saw as a teen was awful.
Also if you haven’t seen it I recommend watching Empire Records! It’s not great lol, but it’s a cult classic and has a huge fanbase. Just a great trash movie with a really good cast.
As soon as my kids showed interest in wanting to watch scary things or go to like haunted houses I allowed them to do it. All kids react to things differently so it should definitely be their decision as to when their comfortable. But, I don't think you should make the decision to completely shelter them from it, cuz they'll be exposed at some point in time and I feel like it'd be way less terrible for them to be with parents for that. Love you guys so much
We had a blockbuster but also a place called "Starlite video" it was just a convenience store/movie rental. All your snacks and movies one stop place lol. Remember the movies we could get in cereal boxes? I remember getting spy kids and monkey trouble. Two of my favorite movies as a kid I am now 30 lol
I just went on a trip to Seattle & Portland and I made my 13 & 16 year old brothers come with me to see Bella Swans house and other twilight locations and to Astoria, that’s my kind of trip. & I love that Carly’s vecna movie is that thing you do, I just watched it again recently and it’s still so good
Aliens fucked me up as a kid. So much so I couldn't finish it and didn't get to the part where they could easily be killed with water 😭 nightmares for months
my hometown had a video rental place called “Aardvark” i still remember going in there as a kid, there was also a lego table for kids that my mom never let me play on 😫
OMG! When my brother was 3 he was in a coma and one day my grandma was sitting with him, turned on Wheel Of Fortune, and that’s when he opened his eyes!
• Erin think celery is spicy. (Is NOT) haha. So saying she can't multi-task and watch and read subtitles at the same time doesn't surprise me. She is one of the kind. • So weirdthe way Mike make the statement "The movies are always better than the books", I honestly never heard that before, like its always the other way around. Becasue the books are mostly/ always better than the movies. There are few very few that its the other way around. • My fav. movie from Saga Bourne is The Bourne Legacy, and people dislike that one. But is so good. •The Lion Kigs was made by the B team, and they never thought it would be a success, • My fav. Disneye movie was Atlantis: The Lost Empire or Mulan. • Grown-ups. • I also had crush on a cartoon, Jim from Treasure planet. •My fav actress is Sandra Bullock.
HOLY SHIT! Erin talking about IT and being afraid to shower is ME af 😂 I was horrified! I remember having my best friend sit on the toilet while I showered! 😂 Also, I LOVE What About Bob! Dude, classic Bill Murray movie! Basically a crazy ocd male who follows his therapist on his family vacation & forces his way into the family. It’s a great movie from my child hood… EDIT ~ I watched the ENTIRE Sex & The City series from Netflix deliveries 😂
I recently watched "The Black Phone" and really liked it. However, it has been many years since a horror movie stuck with me. Hereditary and Sinister were the last 2 that really impacted me
i loved watching this podcast much more than the last few because of the seating, matt and erin on one side with the similar heights made it very pleasing to the eye and the energy was amazing in this video, please sit like this from now on!!
When I was 8 we went to our local video rental place, and me and my brother went to the kids section and picked something random based on the art on the box. It was a cartoon about where babies come from. Not what we were expecting.
I swear that in my 11th grade history class we watched at least 10 movies throughout the year. Wizard of Oz, V for Vendetta, Captain America, Dances with Wolves are a few. So random
Just some newish movie recs: Fresh (Hulu), Not Okay (Hulu), Prey (Hulu), The Outfit (Peacock), Emergency (Prime), The Wretched (Netflix), Last Night in Soho (HBO), Promising Young Woman (HBO)
