If you enjoy crying, watch Leo McCarey’s 1937 film Make Way for Tomorrow.
I’m sure some people are wondering why I didn’t mention Tokyo Story in this video. I know Make Way for Tomorrow inspired Tokyo Story, but I think the films are so different that it’s a disservice to both to compare them. Most people tend to prefer whichever one they saw first.
I probably need to rethink these videos because I feel like I end up spending too much time explaining the plot and not enough time talking about why the movies are so important to me.
