MOVING ABROAD ALONE IN YOUR 20s life-changing //
I decided I wanted to be moving abroad after college, and that's how it happened - my moving abroad alone story!
Living abroad alone has been a truly amazing experience for me in terms of personal growth and development and that's what I wanted to focus on this video. Life abroad and moving overseas can be truly amazing if you let it so be and moving away for the first time is something unique and magical. You need to be willing to step out of your comfort zone and be a bit of the adventurous type (the type that would go forward with moving out with two suitcases), and moving abroad is not easy by any means but it can be a great thing.
So in this video, I break down all of the reasons why you should move abroad in my view and how that can cause you to grow tremendously.

Im moving abroad this summer in couple of months , I need to quit my job first cause I was working this job just to save money , and I did now im full ready to do so , next week I will apply for my leave its finally happening , I just wanna save as more as I can. I hated my life here I never find myself in this job or home that I’m living right now so I always been thinking to move away and I was really preparing for it I’m actually being emotional lately because I didn’t expect myself to finally do it and it’s so soon to be happening I am only in my 20s and your video of moving is really gd and gave me some ideas thanks 🙏🏻

Great video! Thanks for sharing this. It was really informative. I just completed undergrad in Texas and for the passed couple of month I’ve been really thinking about find myself and work in Sweden. I truly seem like a leap of faith to move to an entirely different place but at the same time there’s so much potential for growth. All of your points were valid. Best of luck to you. ✌🏼

I am so happy you found value in it Brian! I would always tell you to do it, it's such a transformative and amazing experience - of course, not every moment is pleasant and comfortable like at home, but i wouldn't change it for the world (I honestly don't know if I want to go back even 😂). Thank you, and I'm excited for you! 🌠

Loved this! I just moved by myself to Iowa from Puerto Rico, and it's been a challenge to adapt and feel comfortable (I've only been here for a month). This video gives me the confidence and assurance that I'm not alone in the process and that for sure, I'll eventually feel better, I just have to give it time.

Ohhh brave girl!! Stay strong, I know it's uncomfortable but soon enough you will only see upsides and be sooo proud of the path you took!! I don't regret a thing, 5 years later. I'm much further in life than if I would have stayed in the comfort zone

Spain must be a good life... 😁 I think they have a very laid back lifestyle! And I visited dubai once and learned that 80% of their population is expats!! Which left mevery curious as well! And their lifestyle is different so I also find it so interesting :) hoping this is all over soon as well so we can travel again freely 💃

I have exactly same mentality after moving to netherlands at 23. Now im 24 back in Poland and deciding to move out again somewhere. I wanna work in hotel or ski hotel and meet many cool people and see new opporunities and perspectives i dont know yet about. Feeling like i can learn and do anything while being so confident and open, i am already grasping what i can. Also different thing is that i know about my mortality and i am aware that things happen in a moment and i know i do my best with my already positive energy that comes from self discipline and respect to myself. Recently i go through streets and surroundings and things really look brighter when i watch around - lights are stronger, buildings are more detailed and nature seems alive. Cool stuff!🔥🔥🔥

Question, do you have to eventually apply for citizenship in the country you live in after staying there for a certain amount of time? I know you would have to if your final decision is to live there pernamintly and be involved in with it's system like voting there? If you apply for citzenship in that country, does that mean you are no longer considered a U.S citizen if that country does not do dual citizenship? Are the moving companies who would move your items including your veheicle overseas associate with airlines? Do you know any companies who move your items long distance within the country and overseas? If yes, can you please name them? Do you know any international job application websites?

Hi Sofia, great video - it was really Interesting 😊 I am 24 years old and are from NZ. I am considering moving to Europe next year to live. I was wondering what do you think Lisbon would be like for a foreigner? I have been there once as a tourist and loved it, I want to meet lots of people and experience the Portuguese culture . I have an EU passport so this should make it easier!
@sofiaeveryday
@sofiaeveryday 3 года назад
Hello Rory, i am so happy you liked this video and to hear about your plans! So I think Lisbon is great for a foreigner! My German boyfriend wants to move there and live there in the future ahah he lived there for 2 years and there is no better city for him. The only downside that it has in my eyes in comparison with other european cities are the very low salaries & weak career prospects. To give you an idea if I would have stayed I would be looking at earning max 1000€ per month (15k/year) after my masters degree, while in germany it's not uncommon to start at 50k and I have colleagues who started WAY above that. But if you work online and don't have to be tied to the portuguese job reality then it's the perfect life :) i also have german colleagues who stayed after we were done with studying, even with the salary/career prospects :) so it's all about what you value and prioritize in the stage in which you are at. I would love to hear if you end up moving there!! 💃🤗

Thanks for the reply Sofia! To be honest moving to Portugal for me would be a 'life break' as I have been living the corporate life for the past 3 years. I would just look to get a job at a bar or hostel and enjoy a chilled out life for a year or so before moving to Amsterdam or the UK to resume my career. Do you think it would be easy to meet friends in Lisbon? What is the renting scene there like? How much would an apartment cost to rent for six months? Thanks 😊
@sofiaeveryday
@sofiaeveryday 3 года назад
That sounds like a great plan!! You would love it soooo much 😊 yes for sure you would easily meet friends in the same mission as you (once covid passes)! Living in the city has gotten a bit pricy but you could get a room in a shared apartment at 500-600€ a month or your own studio from 900€ (of course you can also get lucky and get better rates, but that's the average I would say) :) and I love your plan!!

@@giraffe565 hey, im planning to move to england from italy. got any tips or info?
@giraffe565
@giraffe565 Год назад
@@user-qr6ss3vq6b really depends what part of england you move too, the climate is definetly different from Italy and it's much colder here obviously. People are nice enough (depending on the age group) but in general it is quite a good place to live. London is very pretty and as is the lake district so anywhere you go I'm sure will be lovely. In areas like london people just mind their own business mainly which I'm sure is the same in areas like rome in Italy. In the countryside closer to the scottish border people are much more talkative and everybody knows everybody, news travels fast around small villages. I don't really know what else to say about england but I hope this kind of helped x
@user-qr6ss3vq6b
@user-qr6ss3vq6b Год назад
@@giraffe565 Thank you. I was considering Kensington, which is basically the north-west zone of London if I got that right? I heard that it's quite lovely and there's quite a lot of cafes, local shops, etc. As for the weather, I don't really mind it, actually I prefer colder temperatures (which is kinda weird since I live in South Italy). Just a question tho: I don't really know how to make a British accent, so do u think people will understand me if I talk in an american one? Otherwise, I'll try to learn how to XD

did you have any trouble making friends or meeting new people? how did you combat loneliness? I'm moving from Toronto to australia and am fairly outgoing, but it is always so scary that i'll be all alone :(
@sofiaeveryday
@sofiaeveryday 3 года назад
I think I was very lucky because the company that I started at was all young people that wanted to hand out literally every day. So I was able to make friends right away and explore the city fairly easily. I hope you have a similar experience, but if not I would say that living in a shared flat helps a lot, joining a gym or group sport (when we can), use bumble BFF (inside of the bumble app you can set up a friendship profile, it's super nice!!). Best of luck and have so much fun!!
