I have seen the Pivot lift, and their hands were under the arms and the back, lifting up. pivoting the elder to transfer from bed to wheelchair calling it a pivot lift.

i noticed in the beginning the lady that was picking up a box had her elbows away from her body this is a no no. as you lift anything from a lower postion you arms/elbows should be as close to your body as possible. this as seen was incorrect manual handling!
why do the staff have there id hanging from their necks?. this is a hazard to the staff but also to the client/resident! also when the carer was transferring the bin in the kitchen to another area of the kitchen as he squatted to put down the bin he twisted his body to place it down against the wall. i was a manual handling trainer for 4 years and resigned because many things that are taught simply don't work in reality. most of what is shown on this video would be great if only you client/resident is compliant with your instructions. and 9 out of 10 times that are not so what then?? a question that was never answered to me by management or pt's. which then leaves room for error and an injury. and if you refuse to preform a task because you feel that it is a hazard to you, you are either thought of as lazy, no empathy or just trying to get out of working and then you get into trouble. you can't win
Hi i am manual handling trained to train like yourself, i feel vidoes like this are there as a guidline only as we all need to get to know an individuals needs first of all, i agree with your points.
