Omg this hits so hard because I literally moved from Jamaica to the London last year and I realised Noweh nuh betta yard. Miss Jamaica sm. I had a business in Jamaica that was doing well before I left and I just miss it. One year in and I’m ready to go back home. As a photographer you can work anywhere! There ARE opportunities in Jamaica believe it or not. Don’t have to limit yourself.
@@ro1428 why did you think you could come to the UK and be more successful as a photographer here? Seems the wrong vocation to leave Jamaica to explore
@@leroysmart9363 I’m not a photographer. I have dual citizenship but I grew up in Jamaica but I moved because of better “opportunities” & family. I’m also a believer that the grass is greener where you water it so a photograph or almost any business can thrive anywhere once you put the work in.
Congrats on your decision. I moved back to Jamaica in June after 10 years in the U.S. and the 11th year traveling to 14 countries across five continents. No weh nuh better than yard. I'm happy to be home!
I am inspired to make a video about my experience living in the US for 25 years. I came back to live in Jamaica about 12 years ago and I don’t regret that decision. Like you, I had a job and was “existing “ in the US. You make more money in the states in terms of exchange rate, but my peace of mind is more important. One drawback to living in Jamaica is the horrible customer service that you will get from some businesses, compared to living overseas. I❤ living here and will never live anywhere else!
I love this video. I'm a Jamaican student at a University in the U.S. and Since the first semester, I knew I would want to move back home and build my life there. I cannot say I like it in the U.S but the only thing I'm going to miss is the fast delivery lol. As you said, the quality of life is much better in Jamaica with access to nature and natural foods and without the rat race. These Western societies will make us sick if we stay too long. There is money to be made but to me, it makes no sense if you can't move back to paradise (Jamaica) eventually.
I am a British born Caribbean, born and raised in London and spent alot of time in the Caribbean St Lucia, nothing beats the Caribbean, but to get the best out of London you must have a plan with a time frame, otherwise you will get lost and have no real purpose, with regrets.
this is literally what ive been preaching to my wife, "lets get the bag and go home". In my opinion london is good for visiting and maybe working but "living" isnt it at all
@@BusswehTravelLondon is not livable in this economy. 20 years ago London was more affordable to live. You came to England at the wrong time (2021), where the cost of living now in London is much higher than what it use to be. Maybe, consider moving outside of London where the cost of living in other UK cities is lower. You probably would have find it more better if you came to London in the early 2000's.
UK is in serious dept which they cannot pay back would take hundreds of years to clear, so the cost of living isn't going to get better it's going to get far worse
London will never be the same as Jamaica. 💫 So plan your exit. Many persons have already left London to live in warm countries. 💫 Also, England is not free and easy. You will work all you're life just to pay your bills. 💫 I know I live here. 💥 It's the same in the in Europe, the US and Canada. Bills, bills an Taxes. 💫Living in the Caribbean is the best life ever. 💫 Do a complete break down of all the bills and how much you have to pay each month for everything. 💫 Go to the shops and video the cost of the food. 💫 Show people how expensive it is for everything, and nothing is free and easy. 💯
i agree with you but its not even about free and easy, i am a hard working young man. its more along the lines of culture and geographical differences.
Thank you for this I also moved to London some years ago and moved back to Jamaica after 2 years for the same reasons you mentioned. I love the city but but I felt isolated most of the time.
I have been living in London for 57 years, I moved on several occasions to other parts of the UK but always returned to London after four to six weeks. I think about moving to Jamaica but can't get the courage to make that move
I am in London since I was age Hmmm, 15 1999 hmmm very eye opener. London is ok for money and to rebuild back yourself in Jamaica. There's nothing like Jamaica 😅😅 I tell people Uk has money, nothing else to invest. The weather alone get you depressed.
Great video, as a son and grandson of fellow Jamaicans I understand your conflict as I listened to my parents and grandparents say the same, difference was there were more opportunities and better quality of life back then (80s and before) now man of us British born are looking for a way to leave. There’s no quality of life, living cost is crazy, taxes are one of the highest in Europe and it’s bloodclart cold or raining. Maintain your balance my general, England won’t provide a happy ever after. Salute to you ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
i really appreciate this, i cant count how many times citizens asked me why would i ever leave jamaica to live in uk. most of them trying to figure out a way out.
You have your reasons like many others who leave home but there’s no place like home, even the usual things I grew to eat in the UK and on my visits to Jamaica is either expensive or the quality is terrible. My Wife is Jamaican born and we are looking at moving to Jamaica because England isn’t it plus war look like it’s coming and I’m not hiding in no underground train station to avoid bomb. Let me just find my arse in the son, around positive energy and go freedom street haha ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽🫶🏽
I moved to ja years ago and returned back to uk. All my clothes were stolen , i experienced PA and no one around helped me. Everyone was money oriented even if it meant giving up your morals . The icing on the cake was when they sold our inheritance land and home. By withholding deeds and will documents access. I lived both sides of the island and it was love hate relationship with JA.
Moved back to Kingston from Manchester(UK) in 2015, has been rough at times but zero regrets, nowhere better than Yaad! Just remember Quality of Life over Standard of Living!!! Respect!👊
Best get your UK (British citizenship( before any permanent move back home. TUI sometimes has cheap flights ✈ to Jamaica. You are lucky you have the flexibility to go back and forth. You vsn get the best of both countries.
@@pamhenry7498still open your mind to other a d visit other countries-Capetown South Africa, Thailand. I use the *MEETUP app* - different interest groups
I moved back to Jamaica earlier this year after 40+ years in the U.S.A. It has been an adjustment however it was a wise decision. I’m at peace, low to no stress and living a significantly healthier lifestyle. Before leaving the U.S. I contemplated residing in the UK but the weather and isolated lifestyle was a deterrent.
You really have a wake-up calling to what you know and have in Jamaica compares to London. The main thing you didn’t have was someone around to teach you what to expect in London. The fact is, you cannot compare London with Jamaica; although there are more money to make and spent in London, you can be very lonely sometimes. I had similar experience leaving Jamaica and living in London. It takes me years before I start feeling comfortable
I feel for you bro. Born in England with Jamaican parents after last winter I visited JA for a couple of weeks trying to sort out some business and have a holiday too and I realised that even I feel more at home in JA. England is so depressing esp. in winter where you can go for months without seeing the Sun only rain, fog and gloominess. I realised that though I'm born here my blood and my soul is not built for this climate or culture. I felt so alive as soon as touching down in JA. It was like a return to the motherland. England does have its benefits financially and healthcare wise though. So for me the ideal would be to spend 6 months in JA over winter and the rest in the UK. Bless up for good content keeping things real✌🏽
Personally i feel you should give it more time.i understand what you are saying to be honest.because im a Brummie and in a lot of ways if i left where i was born and raised i think i would feel as you do even more so for my family.but if you have been blessed with a nice home here in the uk.then you can arrange for family members to visit you and you can visit them.nothing is impossible! I wish you positivity peace and love ♥️
Great vlog! Been in USA for 33 years back and forth. I love Jamaica 🇯🇲. When mi come a yaad I become a new person. I am a lover of nature and luv go a riva. Ochi was fi mi backyard back inna di day. I need the connection to my Caribbean roots. I cannot get enough of it. I have had a great experience here in the USA. I love to leave it though.😂 I work hard and I enjoy my free time.
Watching this tears me up! Am going through the same feeling of unhappiness EVERY DAY here in UK 🇬🇧 moved here just few months before pandemic hit! Got pregnant at the beginning of pandemic, instant sickness due to pregnancy 🤰 so for me everything went left!!! In my partner’s face too much caused big trauma for me which I still can’t get over am lonely sad and everything that comes with it! No social life no family nobody really… every day I cry about Jamaica 🇯🇲 but I don’t think people truly understand 😢
I enjoyed the video. Make more 🇯🇲 content, at the River, beach and other places of interest. Talk about 🇯🇲 life. When in the UK, talk about your every day struggles in the 🇬🇧, the cost of living and your experience living there. Love and blessings
Interesting perspective .. i was born here in the UK but theres the fear to migrate to JA due to lack of opportunities and crime... Holiday wise beautiful place and ive never experience any issues... also great options for takeaway food unlike here in the UK... too much unhealthy takeaway places in London
i completely understand and agree with you, as it relates to crime once you’re not involved in weird stuff it reduces the probability of stuff happening
Between the cultural difference, costs, seasonal depression and the shakey weather UK is a hard place to deal with on a mental and emotional scale. JA defo needed for a soul recharge.
Uk is a money making machine & Jamaica a home. Mi come a London 2011, got a job withing 2 weeks of walking around and asking. Move out withing 6 weeks at family house... Went college and now I can't complain. You need 3-5 years to set yourself up after that you're on the route to success. Anything u do got to be skill based that's the fastest money and best way to start you're own business.
UK People are not naturally social Too built up Institutional Racism Good Transport Very Work Focused Nuclear Family Abundance of things to spend your money on Cheaper travel abroad JA People are more open to stopping and having a chat Greenery Food Growing everywhere More sense of Community Good transport between 7am to 7pm Work is important but leisure time is equally as important Extended family's and more family interaction Plenty to spend on but also so much free things Traveling abroad is expensive but why would you want to leave?
@@BusswehTravel Thank you. Look forward to your journey back to Jamaica. You have skills and seem to be a pro active person so success is waiting. IMO, UK use to be a place when you could work, save and do something with your money. Now people are struggling for the basics and things are heading to get worse. Jamaica has its problems too. One thing that I love is that it is easier to start something for yourself and make your own income. UK can be a lonely and stressful place. I value *PEACE*
I’ve lived in London for 15 years and recently decided to leave. Things are getting worse here. Maybe life was much better here before compared to other places, but it doesn’t make sense to live here anymore. If you’re very rich, you might enjoy it but you won’t be able to walk on the street. Anyone can get robbed on the street at any time now. And if you’re not very rich, you’ll struggle to afford life. So many people are stressed and struggling to stay alive.
I lived in US for 17 years now and if I had the money, I would be in Jamaica more often. I'm not sure if I want to move back to Jamaica because of the terrible customer services. I miss the vibes, and the food is healthier. In the US, it's more work and less play.
Having lived in different countries myself I would say you are experiencing culture shock. You need to decide what is important to you and pursue that. No one can tell you what is right for you. I have returned to Jamaica and the potential I see on the north coast is WAY better than I have seen in other countries. Explore a bit, keep an open mind. Thanks for sharing your story. I have come to the conclusion that most Jamaicans who have migrated since covid have ended up worse off, even if they make more money, their quality of life has declined significantly. Jamaica is growing and getting better over time. Five years from now it will be an even better place to live than it is now.
i moved to the uk last year from florida and..... nah suh!! dem can keep dis. im leaving in January. Its such a drastic change. Im not used to the gloominess and the reserved people. People dont smile over here. They dont hail you up, they dont greet you. They barely give you good customer service. Its so depressing.
Anyone who has moved to the UK especially London in the last 5 years you have made a big mistake, especially financially Even in the last 10 years. You have missed the boat.. Price of living now outstrips salary. Unless you have a job paying you £35/40k you will end up working to survive.
In the 1980s and average salary was £15-18k and average house prices £68k... You don't wanna know what it is now. I graduated in 1988 and my first salary was £13k and I brought my first house in 1991 for £59k which was a 3 bedroom terrace in London E7. Sold it for £350k in 1999. If your not on the property ladder get out of London
Im born london jamaican background ..lol i never got why you lot why move here from sunshine and countryside to london rain.. cold ... But i tell you this if your smart you can make money in london..still love london as im born and bread still🤲🏾
Because, don't be fooled, for many, life in Jamaica is ROUGH. Jamaica is beautiful, but there is another side of the story, which for many is intolerable. This video only focuses on the pluses of living in Jamaica.
I am British born, and even I want to go and live in the Caribbean with my mother. London, where I live, is nothing like it used to be. We have a mayor who is ruining everything for the everyday Londoner. It's totally messed up. When people say they want to come here, I ask them why. Stay where you are and build up your country because there's nothing here to build anymore.
With your skills you can work from anywhere in the world. 💥 So stay in Jamaica and get your clients from around the world. 💥 Build or buy yourself a nice property and live your life... 💥 You can still travel to see the world.💥 However, the main thing is to have a nice property in Jamaica so you can enjoy the rivers and trees and greenery... in a nice warm country, like St.Andrew parish. 💥 A lot of smart people go to London for business, shopping or fun then leave. They don't live in London. Not even rich people live in London. 💥 It doesn't make sense when you can have a mansion in Jamaica with the money you spend in London. 💥 Start looking to buy your peace of land in Jamaica and stop wasting money on rent in London. 💥
My husband lives very close to Cane River, entire families are being found murdered, he goes funeral every weekend. He is looking a way out of the chaos. It's beautiful there and I want to live there but bad minded people say he switched up since he met his wife. Jealousy brings danger. A gun has been put in his face twice now. He owns his home up on the mountains. Really feel confused where to live now. Canada is crazy expensive and cold most months. Was born here and found Jamaica to be fabulous. He wants to leave that dangerous atmosphere and come here and I want to leave here and move there. At a crossroads currently. I do not have an online job so I would need to work my medispa business there. Any suggestions??
Sorry to hear your experience didn't live up to your expectations it was probably the worst time to arrive during Covid. London and its experience can make anyone experience one of hardship .the other Jamaican centre's Birmingham Bristol Manchester may not offer the high speed and money but if its space and warm friendly people move out and commute to London for your work while visiting Jamaica regularly. Its the weather and location in England can make life seem grey and if your are unfamiliar were the Jamaica nightlife is it can seem dull.i have family that live in the country by rivers oand open land horse riding fruit trees all that you describe are all there. In terms of benefits for health its unmatched access to free health for life balances out living in Europe ..if your place is warm your half way there its as important as air con in yard ..peace🙏🏽..all de best farda
You are a young guy, maybe you could try to balance the 2 and build yourself up and in the mean time build up some thing in JA for when you return so my advice to you try to make a name in what you do so for now , try to balance the 2 ! Good luck 👍🏿 my friend ! 😊
Decisions! Decisions! Decisions! I think you are doing it the correct way right now. Some time in JA...some time in UK. Once you can strike a balance...you will be ok. If you can not...then chose the one where your heart and mental state is best. Remember you are a married man...what wifey says and how wifey feels matter! Sounds like she wants to be in London! That might be a deal breaker! I know what MY choice would be!
Bro, as a British Caribbean- London and certain parts of the UK has always been a cold place to live for black people. We don’t get the same privileges, we have to work harder and most of our communities have been destroyed. Weather is not really good for our skin or hair. It’s sad but the whole reason why Caribbean’s was brainwashed to come to the UK in the 50-60s era was because they thought it would be better. But now it’s our community is full of more crimes, less jobs and underdeveloped. But that’s often not for white areas. Jamaicans just have to be realistic and do more research before coming here. Realistically it’s about what you can tolerate pros and cons everywhere.
I'm from Northampton too, we came to Jamaica 19 years ago and I feel exactly like this guy is but in reverse. We both say it's the biggest mistake we made coming here. Have not made any friends, they all seem to have ulterior motives, just get what they can from you. There's no one there for you in your time of need, no one just calls round to sit and chat, no one invites you in. It's an incredibly lonely life and I feel so isolated and depressed 😢Would come back in a heartbeat but we've burnt our bridges
@ I know what you mean 😢, been there done that, I went back to Jamaica in 2003 after coming here and made a bit a money so I went back Jamaica after spending 7 years here , I bought a Toyota hiace bus , cash , after a year a got a red plate, it’s the worst mistake I ever made in my life, extortion and police 👮 want a thing would a kill me every single friggin day , the last straw was one night I went to bed after parking the bus , but I always took the battery 🔋 out at night, when I got up in the morning the bus was almost scrapped, headlights tail lights , had a big sound system in it , they took the cd 💿 radio , ripped it out , they came for the bus but because I always took the battery out before going to bed that’s what saved it , so I parked it somewhere else until I bought back all the parts, then put it in a car mart on molynes road , that’s me done with that , would have loved to go back home someday to live, but it’s hard because you’re just surrounded by bad mind,,I’ve seen a lot a good decent Jamaican people who had businesses and who try to provide jobs for Jamaicans ,get killed for extortion or some other sh-t ,and back then you didn’t have so many guns in Jamaica, it gotton worse,
Bredda. Go bak a u yard. England is a durti concrete prison. Jamaica is paradise. Memba a so dem describe fi wi place. There is not a dam ting Great bout Great Britain. Mi wid rada dead Dan spend MI while life a durti England.
Safety ina England is only a perception. Memba MI tell u dat. Dem gwarn like it a di best place ina di world. But people a left yah like maddd. But if u warn be miserable and look down pon ina society an get sick. U welcome fi tan a London.
Sense a hint of indirect Xenophobia I may be wrong though.Bottom line is A European country is suppose to be diffrent from Jamaica.Comparing the two as if your disappointed is criminal like sir you did want experince Jamaica inna England.
Jamaicans have a bad habit of leaving tier country and complaining they can't find the same in the country they move to. They are not the best travellers. Would live to see the stays of Jamaicans who return back home with their tails between their legs. There is a friend of mine from Hong Kong working in Jamaica for the last 10 years. She states Jamaicans generally do not have the work ethic to live or work abroad. This video is symptomatic of this.. It is filled with numerous complaints.
