You had me holding onto my britches watching you lift and move that hive without a strap. I guess you just like living on the edge. One more thing, I use a black sharpe to draw a line on the hardware cloth. I really helps cutting the mesh straight. God's peace brother.
Jeff stole both my comments! So I'll just add- you released those bees like my teacher used to release students to go to lunch or recess. Those who sat still and quiet got to go first. I was always last!
I have had problems with the arms and hand holds on my lifter as well. I believe there are a couple of design flaws that are becoming apparent. The arms actually bend pretty easily under load and the hand hold flaps, IMO should never slant downward. I believe that if those flaps slanted upward, toward the box, they would not slip out of the hand holds as easily. As it is, they will naturally push the arms outward which allows the box to fall.
Yes, the arms will bend easy of the flap is not in the handle of the box. I think in my case here If I cut the front end of the flapper, I can move it a little more forward and it will then line up in the center of the box handle properly.
