Haha, "furnies" isn't the first thing I would have thought of calling them, but makes so much sense in retrospect. For some applications, I expect folding them would work pretty well. I tried it at first and it didn't work for me. Hanging is much more convenient in my application.
Yes, you'll need some sort of hook to attach them too. Be sure to use an anchor of some sort (amzn.to/37SxYAa affiliate link to various styles). Personally I like the self-drilling kind. The drywall by itself doesn't hold standard screws well.
